Spring 67, 516 AV, shortly after high noon

The night before it was decided by Sera Ravonai and her peers, that Irathia's berserker rage syndrome needed to be addressed. No one knew much about the issue, so further study was needed. A plan was devised to get Irathia angry so they could all witness what it did to her. After much debate, it was decided that Ser Imass would be taunted into fighting her and drawing out her rage though combat. Given the circumstances, Imass was the clear candidate to execute, as his reaction would be genuine.

~~~
Ser Imass stood tall and silent in the training grounds amidst a group of Knights. They were speaking about the progress of their squires
Ser Gunther Royer, a Sergeant in the Silver Quadron, changed the subject of the conversation, "Ser Imass is pretty much a squire once again now, arn't you?"
The remark brought a few chuckles from the group. Ser Holsfast guffawed, "By the looks of it, Imass better be hitting the chow hall after this session,"
Ser Imass retorted quickly, trying to seem amiable despite being annoyed at the remarks. "I did not see any of you on the battlefield,"
"That's because you lagged, half-arse-Imass," Royer laughed.
Sera Ophelia remained quiet in the circle.
"Why don't we spar then Ser Royer?" Imass said now clearly annoyed.
"What? Me? HAH I would dust you too quick, we've seen your recent bouts,"
Ser Holsfast was quick to jump in, "Some of the squires here would dust you!"
Laughter among the circle erupted. Even the empathetic Ophelia couldn't help but smirk. Imass on the other-hand growled in anger; he had sacrificed years of his life in a dungeon for a campaign that none of them even participated in.
Gathering his tears, Ser Brutis, another Sargent announced, "Who here has the greenest squire? Let's pit him against, Imass,"
More laughter. More disdainful silence from the Akalak.
Sera Ophelia finally spoke with a quiet suggestion, "My squire Irathia would run circles around him,"
Ser Royer burst, "Yes! Squire Irathia! Bring her over, Sera, let's see her beat Imass,"
The Akalak growled angrily, revealing a row of broken teeth from battle, "So be it,"
~~~

Stepping forward into the dueling circle, Ser Imass waited patiently for Sera Ophelia to fetch Irathia.

For protection the Akalak had gauntlets, a single shoulder plate on his right, and a visored-helmet; he could not handle full plate yet, for he had spent three years in a Sahovan Dungeon and lost his physical prowess. Over his body, he wore a simple black tabard; blue arms and legs exposed to the sun. On his hip hung a longsword and slung over his shoulder was a large circular shield.

As the young squire approached, the Akalak Knight growled in anger - revealing a row of broken teeth. Imass was outraged that his peers thought that Irathia could beat him down. The veteran's face was rough; his right eye lazy and forhead slightly bulged from a dented visor in a battle.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

Postby Irathia on March 25th, 2016, 5:50 am

Irathia wore most of the armor the order supplied her and the gauntlets Terag made for her in Winter. In one hand she gripped her hammer that her mother once wielded, and in the other a brand new hammer she bought when she entered Syliras. She was practicing her pacing and footing on a training dummy, trying out which one was the most effective for her hammers. She tried to slam both faces of the hammer together to form a sort of clap that she felt like could be effective...

After she was done she looked around to see Sera Ravonai's face walking straight at her, a bit of a grin on her face. "Sera Ravonai, is something wrong?" Irathia asked, she looked like she was in a hurry to get Irathia as she came into full view. Sera Ravonai grabbed Irathia's arm and she began to pull Irathia.

"Everything is fine, we... You, actually, are going to duel a knight." Sera Ravonai said as she pulled Irathia through the training grounds.

"Wait? I am going to fight a knight... Not a squire or you?" Irathia asked, slightly confused as they walked closer to a flat circle, a bunch of knights were in a circle.

"Indeed, you will be fighting Ser Imass." Sera Ravonai said as the knights as Sera Ravonai began to slow down slightly, now walking towards the small circle. From the distance they were at she could see an Akalak with a helmet on, a sword on his waist, shield on his bake, and a broken grin that freaked Irathia out slightly.

As the knights opened up and swallowed her into the circle she could see the ground was flat, which was nice. Though the fact that the Akalak was growling and clearly angry unnerved her. She didn't know this knight, and it appeared that he was angry at her for some reason. She didn't do anything wrong to him, did she? She was just confused as she placed both hammers onto her shoulders.

"I take you are Ser Imass?" She asked the Akalak in front of her, tilting her head in wonder slightly as she talked.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

The Knights lined the dueling circle as Irathia approached. They succeeded to capture the tense angry energy coming from Imass in the arena. The Akalak's pride was damaged and it was a tough one for him to let go. The Squire entered the circle, but did not feel the heat yet. The Knight's did not usually line up to watch such a spectacle.

The Akalak slammed his gauntleted fists together with a loud thud, as he sized up his opponent, "Squire," The Knight acknowledged her with curt tact.

Immediately, she gained no respect from Imass. She was clearly of muddied Zith blood and racially Akalaks hated Ziths. In choppy, precise movements, Imass armed himself. The sound of his longsword being drawn was loud. Words and whispers began to circulate around the circle.

Imass banged his shield three times, "Give her a shield! I will not have any talk of a bad equipment match up!"

Sera Ophelia stepped in the circle and handed the Squire a shield, taking her secondary hammer. She whispered into Irathia's ear a few pointers before withdrawing, "You will need to keep up your footwork to deal with the brute; stand your ground and he will overpower you, get caught flat footed and he will seize the opportunity... lastly don't be afraid to let loose--" The last part the Sera said with a grin on her face.

"Enough!" Imass demanded angrily, "It's time!"

Sera Ophelia stepped back and the Knightly crowd got strangely quiet. The only noise that could be heard now was the background buzz of the city behind them.

Slamming his visor down loudly, the Akalak got into his fighting stance; he held the shield close to his heart and the longsword rested on the rim pointed straight down at the shorter woman. He was turned his shoulders perpendicular to her and crouched in his stance.

Taking a bounding step forward, without switching feet; Imass circled the long-sword counterclockwise over his head to gain momentum, before slashing at Irathia's shield arm.

"Huuuuaah!" He put all his kinetic energy in this strike at the cost of being able to counter.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

Postby Irathia on March 29th, 2016, 9:18 pm

Irathia's eyes widened as she stared at Sera Ravonai when she spoke about letting loose... She shook her head slightly, but then she left and next thing she knew it she had a shield in her off hand... She was still stuck about what Sera Ravonai said... Irathia couldn't risk letting loose... Bad things could happen if she does.

A roar of anger filled Irathia's ears as Imass swung his sword for her shield arm, caught off guard she quickly lifted it up to block the attack... The block connected, just barely though, and the swing caused Irathia to stumble back wards slightly as she struggled to catch her footing.

Irathia managed to stop tumbling and she spaced her footing to make her more secure for the fight. Irathia's face tightened into her mask as she brought her shield up and started to swing her hammer in an upwards fashion, her mission to up cut Imass with her hammer. The swing was slightly panic induced, so there was a likely chance she could miss.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

Postby Imass on April 6th, 2016, 6:30 am

The steel of his bastard sword echoed against the wood of her shield. The familiar reverberation jolted through his arm; Ira's opposing dynamic sent Imass' sword arm back up, leaving him in a natural position to throw a second cut.

The Knight was fairly new at using the bastard sword, so he would make up for the deficiency by hammering with more blunt force than usual for a blade.

Hoisting the sword in a wide arc over his head, the Akalak used an over-head strike on the Half-Breed. However, the squire was already stepping into him with an underhanded swing.

The two strikes connected at the same time: Ira hammered the bottom of the shield's rim. Imass' hilt guard got caught on the top of her rim. His strike was completely ineffective due to standing toe-to-toe with the squire gave him no room to work with the four-foot blade.

Ripping his sword lose, the angry Akalak did not choose to step back into sword-play range. Rather, he held his ground to throw a jab at Irathia's helmet without a second breath.

"Huawah!"

Imass gripped his sword harder and kept his shield hand on his heart, but would throw a lot into the punch causing his shoulders and hips to turn dramatically.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

Irathia growled as her hammer hit Imass' shield, but was slightly relieved that the over head strike hit her shield as well... But she still felt anger boil and swirl inside her. She bared her teeth, but then she was met with a fist hitting her in the head, dazing her as a white light filled Irathia's vision and her mind swam. Something was swirling around in her mouth as the taste of iron covered her tongue. She bit her tongue, and something was moving around in her mouth... Which wasn't a pleasant experience for her. She pushed her helmet up slightly and spat out the remains of a tooth. She used her tongue to feel the broken tip and now dull part of a tooth.

Irathia shook her head as she went back into focus, she noticed she walked back a couple of steps as she stared at the Akalak... Tunnel vision wrapped around her eyes as she shouted over the slight cheers and cringes that had occurred when Irathia was hit in the face. She charged forward, her shield blocking most of her body as she waved her hammer in the air above her head. She was going to get revenge as more rage burned across her being. She was aiming for his leg as she swooped her hammer down.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

Reeling back from his punch in caution, Imass tried to mentally gauge Irathia after the brief exchange. Already breathing hard, the Knight stared at the half-breed threw the narrow slit of his visor.

You really going to try to stand toe to toe with me in a battering match?

The other knights had been talking up the Squire as a force to be reckoned with, yet Imass' first impression was that she needed to pick a more finesse type weapon and leave the blunt force trauma for the big dogs. The Zealot was ever cautious though and would take no chances, despite her already being bloodied.

They two contenders approached each other again for another exchange. Irathia threw a low sweep, forcing Imass to take a four inch hop backwards to dodge it.

Without shifting his stance, he began to side step counter-clockwise around the Squire; his intention was to keep his sword's reach in his advantage and further test Irathia's mettle before committing.

Lunging forward with his lead foot, Imass threw a stab towards her helmet. Being new to the bastard sword, he knew immediately before he finished the strike it would miss or be blocked.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

Postby Irathia on April 9th, 2016, 3:04 pm

Irathia growled with anger as the Akalak jumped back away from her swing. Hey eyes widened as she turned her head to see him going to a attack, she quickly brought her shield up as the blade slammed against her shield. She quickly went back to standing straight up, she felt anger swelling and swirling in her as she slammed the side of her hammer into her shield.

Irathia began pushing down her rage, trying to not let her... Other side down, refusing to let her out... But she was struggling, the anger still swelled and churned in Irathia's head. She stood their with her hammer, and she charged forward, growling with anger, determined to hit the Akalak in front of her. She thrust the top of the hammer forward, determined to hit him in the gut.

In doing so though, she opened the flood gates as Irathia's blacked out. But she still stood, as she began snarling and seemed to be doing thing much harder. Irathia was gone, and in her place was her other side, she was going berserk. Rage moved through her very core, she snarled and growled as she began her thrust and it was obvious, she was very, very angry.

[Antinous] Drawing the Anger Out

The glancing blow off Ira's shield left him with absolutely no opportunity for a follow up attack or counter move. Booing could be heard from the Knights that had circled them in the background.

Taking to recoiling step backwards, Imass prepared himself for another exchange. Before he could decide on a tactic though, the Squire charged him loudly with a hammer trust towards his stomach.

Pivoting on both feet and turning his hips perpendicular, Imass only gave her his shield to bite on. After blocking the blow, he continued to circle her in this defense position as she continued to swing on him in anger. He blocked the next couple of attacks easily, but his positioning gave him no room to counter or do anything

The Knights began to boo even more now; they wanted to see Imass do something. What are you doing? You really want to stand toe to toe with me?

Hopping back, Imass gave himself room to pivot back into an offensive stance. Keeping his sword arm tucked in, the Akalaka threw three shield bashes in a row, using the rim of his shield to strike.

"Huah! Huah! Huah!" He also pushed himself closer into her box.

If Irathia wanted a battering match, Imass would give it to her.

Each shield strike two of the strikes hit her, one in the shoulder, one in the chest, and the second barely missing because she was pushed back slightly by the two hits. She growled and snarled with each hit as she tried to regain her footing. She looked at the Akalak in front of her and wanted to make it so he had no teeth left.

She managed to regain her footing and charged forward this time swinging for the head, and If it were to hit she would pull back the shield and thust the hammer for the chest again. Her shield was up and was preparing to block any attacks from the side... She seemed to be swinging faster, but in the mean time she was leaving herself open to a attack in several areas.
