39th Spring, 516 AV
A plaza somewhere in Alvadas
7th bell

It was a grey day in Alvadas. The sky was covered in a blanket of cloud, non-descript and dreary. The Weaving that covered the entire city seemed to be less vibrant in patches, and in one of those areas, there stood a building. It’s a tall one, in a plaza of three others that all overlook each other. Most of the buildings in the area were well-maintained, and were obviously housing people, families, couples. This building, however, looked nothing like its nearby counterparts.

It stood slightly crooked, with no obvious door to get into it. The windows were grimy and caked shut with filth. Curtains obscured the interior. It was isolated from its neighbours by a small gap, as if the other houses felt disgusted by being in its presence. Three stories up on the top floor was a balcony, with a rusting, green-painted iron fence tentatively separating the sky from the floor. Its roof was missing tiles with some laying undisturbed on the balcony, and its chimney had a large nest of some kind perched precariously on it, with the occasional bird flying to and fro.

However, the most striking part of the building was not the building itself, but its inhabitant. Her neighbours had never seen her, and assumed the house was empty. But on the 39th Spring, 516 AV, they were in for a shock. Standing on the balcony was a woman, tall, with dark hair and pale skin. She wore a dress, artfully dramatic and made of some kind of dark crimson crimped material.

It was only early morning, about the 7th bell. The woman was standing, leaning over the balcony with an airy abandon, gazing down at the cobbled plaza below. Whenever someone walked past, she would call out to them. Sometimes they ignored her, sometimes they spoke to her. The natural amplification of the plaza meant that their words were easily heard, if somewhat echoed.

She was asking something, with a mellow, cultured voice. Something that drew a small crowd of her neighbours, four or five Alvads, who were curious rather than anything. They gathered at the base of the house, craning their necks up to look at her.

[Event- 39th: Of Being] A Morning of Musing [Amon]

Postby Amon Ironheart Terras on April 19th, 2016, 12:05 am

Amon was on his way back to the forge from breakfast a pleasant little buzz playing around his head from the ale. Wonderful feeling it was so, he decided to take a longer path than his usual route. See the other parts of the city, something new and interesting. It was wonderful so far, there were a few interesting buildings, some were designed like old castles and other were completely wooden with images carved right into the wood. It was wonderful Amon made a mental note of learning a bit of how to do that with wood. To just be held down by metal wouldn't work he need to master all of it.

He was so deep in his thought that he walked straight into the a burly man standing on the street, bouncing back slightly he was about to mumble something in the form of an apology but the man wasn't looking at him. He was staring up at a building in the district well it was certain an old building but that couldn't be what was so interesting. Following the direction of his eyes peering at the figure who seemed to be balancing on the run down the balcony. That's was unusual but nothing really different from the city the entire place was a mad house. He was about to continue on his way to work until he was able to see a bit closer at her face and more importantly those eyes. Taking an unconscious set back his haze disappearing in understanding. He knew those eyes they used to look back him before he left home, in those eyes are a person who believes that there is nothing left to live for. The eyes of a person who is will end it all. "Fire and damnation."

Kicking the gate open, he tears into the yards running straight into a collection of thorn bushes. Pushing through clearing a few with his glave, trying to find a way into the house. He love how they built houses in the city but come on doors people, doors ! Cutting his way around the yard to check the back, there was patch of old wood that looked like a door frame. Slamming his body onto it ,giving way into some kind of foyer. He was bleed slightly from various small cuts on his body. "Oh come one" There were at least three different stair cases and five doors one was on the roof. The roof I say charging up the first set of stairs slamming into the door at the end only to be bounced back. Pulling the door open to only see a wall behind it, ok then trying the one on the roof. Jumping off the top stair grabbing at the handle of the one in the ceiling. Turning it while dangling for a pile of cloth to come tumbling out. He was starting to hate this house, swinging back and jumping onto the top stair. Running back down to try a third door, and a collection of plants came bursting out. Kicking the door back close he tried a fourth this one finally had a staircase. Running up the winding stairs he come to a door that seemed to be leading to the second floor.
He bolts through the door pausing around to look at the find stairs seeing one, the one time he does something un drunk like world is with him. Finding he next set of steps taking them two at a time. Until he finally reaches the third-floor puffins slightly breathing in the stale air. Peaking around in the semi-darkness looking for the balcony. Walking out to the balcony to look at her she was pretty in that way artist were pretty. Not a great deal of muscle was on her frame so she wasn't one that seemed to do any forge like work, well anything type of heavy work really. Taking a swig from his wineskin bugger he was planning to save this for later.

Keeping his eyes on her offering her the skin." So want to drink ?"

The woman watched out of dark eyes as the unknown man raced to find a way into her home. The commotion he made as he climbed and raced up the stairs made her jump, and when he finally reached her out on the balcony, the woman jumped a little in surprise, pressing herself against the railings, as if for comfort and safety, despite the obvious irony in that action.

When he spoke however, she inclined her head, staring with confusion at the proffered drink. In a soft, cultured voice, the woman asked, "Would it help?" Her tone was neither accusatory nor fearful, but simply wondering. "I've tried alcohol before, I'm assuming that's what's held in the skin, and it was not anything special. Although if you suggest it, then I'll try it."

With a casual gesture, she looked out over the plaza below. "So, should I jump?" Turning again to gaze at Amon, she would keep a careful distance, but other than that, would appear to be friendly. Up close, the woman was even more beautiful that before, with raven-dark hair and soft, dark eyes framed by delicate lashes. Her skin glowed pale and her movements were refined and elegant.

"I'm Eleanor. Who are you?" She smiled, and narrowed her eyes at Amon. "Let me guess... you don't think I should jump and plummet to my untimely death, because there's so much more to live for? My neighbours have been questioning my sanity, you know," she said conversationally. "I'm not insane. It's a perfectly good question, don't you think?"

Amon was a bit taken back she had said that alcohol wouldn't help, how dare she alcohol helped everything. It made women prettier and man braver, it ever made life more bearable. He could see that his drink would be of little us to him in this situation. Staring at her a bit as she talked using the chance to drink in her fractures. Everything from her stance to her eyes. She was one of the most beautiful humans he had ever was seen, and she apparent was able to think of taking her life with the casual ease of one talk about the weather. She wants to know if to jump, how could he answer that all he knew about her was that her neighbour was question her sanity.

Taking a quick look at the railing, solid iron with steel rivets, that would be able to how her weight. Leaning back against one of the walls that lead out to her, taking a long swig of his skin. "Well, I can say that I'm the best judge of sanity being a drunk and all. Oh don't get me wrong being drunk is how I'm able to function as a civil creature. I guess that is an interesting question if anything. " Taking a next long drink of his skin staring out at the crowd and to the ground. " Oh and if you should take your own life, well why do you think jumping is the best option ?" He wouldn't answer her question just yet, she was like a piece of steel, there were many paths the piece could take but only one that brought out its full use.

She sunk into thought for what seemed a short time given the philosophical weight of the question. "Well, stranger, the thing is, I don't know if I should, as you say, 'take my own life'."

The woman shook her head, her locks shaking free. "It's more a case of, how to put it... What truly makes this life any better than any other life? Once I'm dead, I won't be able to feel anything, presumably. So what does it matter when I'm dead?" She smiled, and reached to casually take the wine skin from Amon's hands.

She sipped tentatively, assuming that the offer was still there. The taste didn't seem to agree with her, and she swallowed it with a grimace. "If life was so good, and so worth it, why are there people like you in the world, who choose to lose themselves to drunkenness? That's my question to you."

She seemed to take the conversation as any other, whilst pushing little pieces of twig and leaf off the edge of the balcony, watching with a passive expression as they fell to the streets below.

"As for why I want to end my life, I'm undecided." She shrugged her slim shoulders, and drummed her fingers across the metal railing. "What of you, though? You seem awfully keen to 'help' me." She smiled a wry smile, and handed the wine skin back. "It's not often that I get visitors..."

Dropping on the floor of the balcony looking up at her ponder what he should say to her, it was an odd situation for him. He could tell her that life was full of wonder and something else that he didn't really believe. Those eyes, however , he could tell that she would know he was lying and lying to her wasn't going to help want way or the other. She did have a good amount of points this life was painful and when one was dead it was over there was nothing else that one would feel.

Rubbing his eyes looking at his skin that alcohol would be welcomed right now but he needs some kind of focus. Looking out towards the skyline. Why did she have to ask suck completed questions ? He could tell her the reason but why there was no good reason to tell a stranger. So he would her the short version the one that didn't make his soul cry in pain to tell. Began his voice cracking slightly the rage spilling over his haze. "My family is gone, the alcohol is my medicine. So I can't say life is good I can't ever say that it is fair. The best I can say is that for all the pain it brings it's interesting ....and it is that fact that I'm alive now. For if it wasn't I would have killed myself already."

Pulling his gaze back at her, his fire held back by bars of steel, looking her up and down. "Your eyes, they remind me of myself some time back. I just want to understand why, if you truly believed that there is nothing in this life that you would enjoy and want to end it all I'll hold your hand as you go to the void. However if there is something that can be interesting I would help you down and walk with you to find that thing." Taking back the wineskin and taking a generous sip of the golden liquid. It was weird to I'm that she didn't get many visitors though as far as human went she was beautiful not as nice a good Isur but still.

The woman regarded him for a long, drawn-out chime. She could see it now, the maelstrom inside him. The woman sighed, and gently reached to touch his shoulder, before dropping her hand somewhat suddenly. "I'm sorry to hear of your loss."

"As for your questions, I'm not sure what to say. I'm sure there are plenty of things to live for, but perhaps there are plenty of things to die for too. You hear the stories of lovers who die for each other. Gods, this world is as it is because of lovers and death. Perhaps death isn't such a bad thing, if you choose it freely and willingly?"

If she seemed to be avoiding the real issue, she didn't realise. "I don't believe that there isn't anything to live for, because I am almost sure that there is. I used to have a good life here. But well..." She shrugged her slim shoulders, and leaned over the balcony. "Life can grow dull, and I'm an adult. If I want to die, then why should anyone stop me?"

There was a small crowd down at the base of the building, of three or four people. As she leaned over the balcony, someone below gasped. "Help her!" The others stood by, confused. Eleanor gazed down at the people below. "Why do you think I need help?"
