To Create a Future
13th Summer 516av

Caesi had left her Pavilion early that morning to scout out other pavilions and what they had to offer. It was a rare thing for her to have time to do something besides work, and if she were to think about it in a way this was still working. However, she decided to find a place she had yet to go, somewhere different, to visit a place she would not typically venture to. In a way, she thought of it as an adventure, something to break free of the monotonous day in and day out routine she had found herself to be in. Stroking her Striders neck in a loving fashion, she tightened her knees ever so slightly and adjusted her small body in the Yvas, scanning the area with her eyes.

She had found the Diamond Clan, which was notable by the white tents and the people dressed in white as well. Looking among the tents she found one that looked particularly interesting. It stood out among the rest. It was white like the others, however there was animal bones decorating it. Frowning slightly, Caesi could not help but wonder what this tent was about.

Shifting in her Yvas she urged Pyxis forward towards the strange tent. Once they were close, she dismounted and guided her Strider to the opening. Stroking the soft nose of the Strider she gave her a small kiss, signing “Stay” to the Strider who seemed to understand her gesture. Turning her back to her friend, she observed the tent closer. It was indeed animal bones that graced the tent, decorating it in the fashion of the Drykas people. Goose-flesh appeared on her skin as a small gust of wind seemed to urge her forward. It felt as if Zulrav was guiding her to go inside of the strange tent. Biting her bottom lip she looked around her. Everyone in the Diamond Clan seemed to be busy doing their duties. Some were training with swords, some with bows, others appeared to be entering the Web. Heaving a soft breath, she lifted the flap and headed inside.

The tent was unusually dark and Caesi had to blink several times to get her eyes to adjust to the dramatic light difference. The curious teal-green eyes watered slightly and she swiped at her eyes with the back of her hand. Once her eyes had became more adjusted the young Drykas girl peered around the tent. More animal parts seemed to be scattered in the tent, in what appeared to be a disorganized mess, though she was sure the owners knew exactly where everything was. The inside was quite glamours with soft pillows scattered upon the ground and sheer material draping from the tent ceiling. Low candle light made the place go from the original eeriness to a more relaxed and romantic feel, putting Caesi in a mellow type of mood.

An older woman came forth, limping ever so slightly though it was not very visible. It was a limp of the elderly, not of a damaged limb, as she made her way closer to Caesi. Once the woman became closer, Caesi observed that her right eye was white, indicating that she was blind there. The woman appeared to be quite old, older than most Drykas she had seen. The older woman stretched out her arm, the gnarled hand grasping onto Caesi's “Come to get your fortune from Ferem?” The older ladies voice crackled and wisped out.

Caesi was a little in shock, wondering how she was able to live as long as she had. The Drykas life could be luxurious yes, though it was still a hard life when it came to toiling out in the day and constantly packing and moving. She paused for a few ticks, unable to really catch her voice. However, after a few ticks she was able to muster up a sound that did not make any sense. Clearing her throat she gave the woman a soft smile, “I suppose so. I stumbled upon your tent. I did not know what would be inside.” Caesi admitted with a small blush, as she peered into the eyes of the older woman. In her right eye it was as if images appeared, though as soon as you would notice they would vanish, playing mind games with you.

Ferem gave a withered smile, nodding her head, “Yes.. Yes.. they have brought you to me for a reason child. Come, Come.. Have a seat!” The woman said with excitement. Her old and frail body picking up speed to match her happiness to have Caesi there. The woman wobbled around and sat down on a pile of plush looking pillows. A small table sat in the center, it was low to the ground and made for easy travel. Caesi followed the old fortune teller, sitting across from her in another pile of plush pillows, then glanced across the table at the woman.

“So how does this work?” Caesi asked a bit nervously. Her tone came out with a slight tremor, as this was something she had never done before. She would not ever go to a fortune teller. Sure, she believed in such things, however she was always the type to create her own future, afraid of what the fortune teller may say.

Ferem gave her a tender smile, noticing how nervous she really was, “Most want to know what the future holds for them. Some can not remember the past, so Ferem remembers for them. Then there are others who are lost and Ferem will guide them.” The older said with a soft chuckle, looking upon Caesi's confused face. “Ferem will guide you.” The withered woman said with a smirk.

Caesi was not sure what to think about this. She was a little in awe and shock. She could not agree or disagree. Instead she just sat there, letting the events of whatever happened, happen.

Caesi looked up at Ferem, waiting for what the old woman had in mind. The fortune teller was examining Caesi, looking over her person in an observant way. Wise eyes explored details of her person that Caesi could not understand nor wanted to know why she did such. In a blink of an eye Ferem threw some type of bones into a dish. They seemed to have appeared out of thin air, their coarse and whiten bodies spilling into the dish. Ferem bent over to examine the bones she had thrown, Caesi could not help but also lean forward to see what the older woman was seeing. The bones were runes, with different symbols on their surface. Caesi could not understand them and she wondered if Ferem could even understand what they were saying.

The old withered hands reached out to fondle the runes in the dish. Her wrinkled hands picking them up and turning them over. Caesi observed that it seemed as if she was using her blind eye to see the runes, not her good eye. She chided herself for thinking such a ridiculous thing however. She can not see from that eye Caesi, do not be stupid. She told herself, a small smirk displaying on her plush lips. Clearing her mind she reached her small palm out to touch one of the runes. Her hand did not make it very far though, as Ferem struck out with unnatural speed to pop her hand. Caesi retracted her hand fast, bringing it to her lips out of instinct. Her brows traveled down her face, making a scowl at Ferem.

“You do not touch the fortune tellers runes. They are filled with her essence, you touch them and it will be tainted.” Ferem explained with out even looking up at Caesi, as she continued to dig through the boned runes, reading and searching for answers. What answers she was looking for, Caesi was unsure, as she had not asked a question. Ferem just had an uncanny way of knowing what people were looking for. Perhaps she was just really observant and could read body language. Or maybe she is psychic and she is inside my mind right now.. Caesi thought to herself, a small chill dancing down her spine, causing her flesh to bubble slightly.

Ferem gave a firm nod, her hand swiping across the runes and them vanishing. Caesi blinked a bit dumbfounded at what she was seeing. The runes had appeared out of no where and then disappeared in the same way. Her mouth opened in shock as she looked around the table, searching for the runes that had vanished. Ferem gave up no explanation, a knowing and wise smile spread across her face as she looked over at the young Drykas girl.

“Would you like to know what I know, or would you rather not know what is to be and could be?” The withered woman spoke, her voice coming out in a soft lilt, her words tangling into a riddle. Caesi frowned once more, not sure how to respond to the woman. Her words were a bit confusing, however she was a curious girl by nature so she shrugged her left shoulder, “Sure?” Caesi responded, her statement coming out as a question by accident, making her blush slightly.

When it really came down to it, Caesi was not sure she wanted to know anything about her past, present, or even her future. She wanted to create her own future, not have it already planned out for her. She believed that a person made their own destiny, by the lessons they learned, the trials they overcame, and how they pursued their dreams. A person had a free-will over how their life was going to go, nothing was predestined. However, even with that mindset, she was still curious as to what the old fortune teller had to tell her. She wanted to hear what those weird boned runes said to the woman. If they said anything at all. Caesi thought to herself, her brows pinching together in heavy thought, as she glanced up at Ferem. “Yes I would like to know.” She gave the woman a more definite answer, this time not in a question. She was ready to hear what the woman had to say. Whether she believed it or not was a different story however.
