13th of Winter 516 AV
The Pits
The wind was relaxing this winter not so cold and chilling not that he was pleased with the absence of winter, Morwen abandoning her job is costing thousands of lives and she still does nothing.
Regardless Zifor was here for fun and a saying with a squire he had finally managed to track down who offered him a drink he decided since a squire was probably busy with his “Training” and the “Knightly Duties”. That he should arrange the meeting and the drinks as well because squires weren't paid Shyke for their job.
He brought his recently Acquired throwing knives to pass the time until garland arrived, come to think of it when he found garland and told him to meet him here he never really explained why for all he knew garland could think Zi just wanted some training. Although he seemed... Anxious for garland’s arrival he had never really felt the mind-numbing effects of alcohol he had Bought something called Spirits which was made in the same way as wine but it was much stronger the merchant said the bottle was rare so he had hoped it will taste better but not knowing anything of alcohol.
Zi leaned against a wall of the pits and decided to throw a few practice shots at the Training figure before garland arrived and grinned at his idea for the night he made sure to ask the next time garland was available outside of working hours so they should have a while.
Zi felt the knives in his hand a solid thing of steel with a bit more heft than an average dagger but could probably still be used as one in a pinch the weight felt odd in his hand but putting them in his hands he punched the air a few times to get his hands accustomed to the weight than he turned held in his breath and Threw, as the knife clattered into the dust he heard the footfalls of someone approaching and thought to himself Shyke, I Hope no one saw that

Finally a day where Garland could actually relax without panicking for his children's psudo-birthday.
Garland wore his leather jacket, it was somewhat run-down from overuse, but it was reliable, and he liked it. Garland did feel guilty about leaving his kids with his patron again, but hopefully with the mist from fall lifted, he would have more time to spend with his kids.
But today, he had prior arrangements with a friend he had met last fall. Garland took a hand-crossbow from the armory, technically he was just training and not just slacking off to have a drink.
Drinking and shooting things in a somewhat crowded environment, what could possibly go wrong?
The warm winds of the odd winter was actually quite pleasant, not too hot, not too cold and you can actually leave your home without freezing to death or melting into a puddle like winter and summer respectively.
This was like spring, cool enough to comfortable, warm enough for the plants and produce to grow and everyone was generally in a good mood.
Garland still felt this was wrong, like the balance of nature was screwing the world over. He did not know much about the gods of the seasons, or any gods in truth, but he knew something was terribly wrong.
He knows about the world ending event over five hundred years ago, and the there have been rumors that the four seasonal gods were having a bit of a falling out. The last thing they needed was the world to be a battleground for a bunch of overpowered crybabies.
But now was not the time of thinking things like that. Now was the time of getting smashed while shooting things like idiots. "Zifor! Sorry I'm late. Have you been waiting long?"

Brushing his shirt off Zi grinned at Garland as he approached, And walking towards him, Zifor did think the squire definitely looked better without his full plate armor on and hopped over towards him excitedly. "Glad you made it Gar, Say you seem to be a bit lighter than usual Mr squire I gotta say it's a lot less intimidating. If I'd known better you could've passed as a normal human."
Zifor let his eyes wander to the squires weapon of choice, today at least it seemed to be some kind of small crossbow. "Say that is definintley something i could so you using, Strong guy as you are" As Far as Zi knew crossbows where the weapons used by most warriors who didnt want to use a real bow, but knives seemed more fun to him.
"Really i havent waited much long for you figure id steal an opurtunity to get ahead of you" Zifor Left the amount of time out to see if garland would really ask him an amount of time as he picked up the bottle he had bought and showed it to garland. "The merchant said this was like wine but stronger, i Figured you would be Able to handle this, Plus if i get drunk i might as well know what it feels like to be really drunk gotta go all out dont We" ? Zifor smirked and turned his back t garland and fetched the glasses he had purchased with the alcohol"One of these for every miss" The Prospect of the fun they could have would be an interesting one. Zifor gave a knowing wink at garland and let the knife fly at the target, THUNK And into the wood right under the Training Dummies torso the knife sunk in as Zifor winced.
"Ouch well then looks like im free from one drink although that poor fellow may need one from where he was hit" His smile widened and he flashed his teeth at garland. "So Gar lets see do you get to be the first to drink today or No?"

Garland smiled, flashing his teeth. "Mate, you didn't have to get expensive spirits, it's about the act and the game, not the drink. Well... If you ask me at least, some people just want to get drunk."
"I'm a man of action, I like getting close and personal during a fight, sometimes you just can't reach a person fast enough with your sword so I choose to have this thing, strong enough to punch through leather and possibly half-plate, can be shot with one hand, reloaded with two, unlike a full crossbow where you actually had to use your foot to hold it down while you wind it up. It was all very taxing using a full crossbow, impractical in a fight, strong but you really don't have the speed to fight more than one person, and only if you have the range to reload your shot if you miss."
"You're a dagger man I see. They're fast, but they don't have the range of a bow, the strength of a crossbow, but if you can hit someone in weak points they are quite deadly. Although I don't think you'll see me using them, I'd most likely miss or hit people with the hilt."
When Zifor threw his dagger it landed straight and true right in the center of the stomach area. "Nice throw." Garland stepped up, aiming his crossbow with one hand, he was no expert but his stance was a practiced one.
With a TWANG from the crossbow, the bolt flew, rushing through the air and hitting it squarely on the neck area of the dummy. "Well, with that injury, he won't be drinking any time soon."

"Perhaps, Some people would be curious about that, I Would agree that is the case" Zifor met garlands smile with joy it was nice to see the man be earnest, the moment they started talking he knew garland was a better person than most squires he had met."Ah, Emotions your Not a Construct of the knights but indeed a human I had my suspicions, and it seems you are indeed human"
"A Man of action you must lead a pretty enjoyable life" Imagining the people garland must come across at least if he left the comfort of the city regularly enough."Especially if you enjoy a good close quarters situation" He winked at the squire and laughed.
"They fit me, I'm Quick nimble and I can fly a good distance as well" he wondered what questions Gar would have after that and he grabbed two knives from his belt and he did a quick twirl before throwing it at the target, THUD the knife hit the Dummy right in the head, but it landed blunt edge against his head. "Hit or Miss ?" Zi Didn't know what to consider that and his face flushed with embarassment.
"Well that was awkward" he scratched the back of his head and Chuckled at garland. "So a Drink or No, I'm pretty sure I would be in some pain after that one"
Zi jumped to retrieve his knife and ran back to garland " Either way Next shots on you" Zi grinned like a devil at garland.

"It's a miss, my friend, the knife's gotta stick or at least hit with the sharp end." Garland said and let Zi take his knives back. He aimed his crossbow at the dummy and paused.
"What did you mean by flying?" Garland involuntarily fired his crossbow, whizzing pass the target and landing behind the target. "Shyke. That's a drink for me." Garland took the bottle and poured drink Zifor had brought into the glasses.
"Cheers!" Garland said and toasted with Zifor. He downed the shot, quickly feeling it burn as it went down. "Oh gods, that's... stronger than what I'm used to..." Garland coughed and shook his head.
Garland still thought that drinking and shooting was a terrible idea, but as more and more he drunk the less it seemed like a bad idea.
This was a horrible tragedy waiting to happen. "You're a kelvic right? You seem like a raccoon or something, small, fluffy and adorable." Or a hilarious comedy.
Garland reloaded his crossbow, and stepped back, letting Zi take the range and the target. "So, how'd your fall go? I bet really boring because of the curfew and the damn monsters roaming around before."

Zifor tipped the glass down his throat, Alcohol burned his tongue but the flavor wasn't unpleasant just not as much fruit as he expected. "Strong, is not a powerful enough word" Zi coughed and laughed, to be fair the flavor was not bad.
"Owl more accurately so, not so cute as a racoon butI still say I have my charm" Zifor winked and tossed his spare knife he had grabbed and threw it hitting the dummy square in the ...top of the head. "Well I was aiming for the head but that works" Zi stretched out and smirked at garland "D'you wanna see for yourself"
"My Fall was not really all that evident I had to stay in most of the night without a big strong squire to protect me I hope you at least had something interesting happen, Hunt a cult, kill some monsters, fight insane wizards. ?"
Garland seemed more interesting than most squires he had met so Zi dug Curiously, but carefully as he didn't want to seem too inquisitive.

"Owl? Can you turn your head around like all the way? That's cool!" Garland said and stepped up to the range.
Garland squinted and closed his eye, he aimed down and to the range. "Ehhh... Relatively boring, just the constant fog and monsters all around. I'll be perfectly honest I don't remember much about last fall. All just a bit of a haze because... of the haze."
Garland pulled the trigger, sending the bolt right into the target's crouch. "Ohhh~ That's gotta hurt." Garland stepped back to let Zi take the range. "I would love to see you turn into an owl, but I've seen Kelvics shapeshift before. Maybe somewhere a bit more... private."
Garland was not smart enough to notice Zifor's obvious flirting, and he would most likely be drunk enough in four more shots to agree to absolutely anything and everything Zi would say.
"What kind of an owl are you, or do you not know? I bet you're a floofy owl, with soft feathers and I would to ruffle them." Garland pictured Zi in his owl form, like a small fluffy birdy and would just love to have a plushie of or just snuggle.
His kids would most likely love a plushie owl too. They'd also probably pull Zi's feathers off because they play too rough.

"Can I yes probably, Do I really ?, Not that often no" to be fair flying around Syliras was oft too dangerous for Zi " When I Fly I tend to stick to the woods"
"Last season was odd I tell you it has me really wondering what all you knightly for are doing why the cause of the fog wasn't routed out sooner, But I know you need to keep your orders so your family is taken care of". Zi could respect garland's need to protect his families interest as well as to keep his nose down but the knights as a whole should have been able to stop whatever it was that was causing this fog.
As Garland's bolt found its mark Zifor gave a grim smile. "Poor Fellow won't get to have a family of his own now."
"I Would love to find some private time and show you in the future, I would really enjoy that Perhaps later tonight you could join me for it" Zi threw the knife as hard as he could, Unfortunately for him the knife flew downwards and nearly dropped the damn thing right on his foot. Letting out a burst of laughter he walked over to the bottle and poured himself another shot, "Bottom's up aye,? Let me see if you'll be joining me before I take this one down"
Zi was beginning to feel the effect of the first drink and was quite enjoying the feeling of the nice weather on him, his cheeks flushed from the alcohol and just enjoying a nice time with another person was pleasant as well.

"I don't think the knights did anything but just sent more patrols, the fog just sorta left on its own." Garland was just disappointed at the knights, they did the smart thing of hunkering down, but they couldn't find the source of the problem, if was permanent, then they were in trouble.
Garland just laughed when Zi dropped the knife and almost stabbed himself. "Hahaha! Don't worry, I do that a lot too." Garland took aim again, closing one of his eyes and holding his breath, he envisioned where the bolt would fly.
He aimed for the bolt that was sticking out of the target's lower areas, hoping to split it down the middle and show off.
He missed, and hit just below the area. "Oh shyke, cheers Zi!" With that Garland poured another drink for himself and knocked it back. "Oh, that is sweet! Ahhh." With that Garland let Zi take the range and reloaded his crossbow.
"The knights, they try to do what they think is best, even if common-sense isn't their strong suit. They tend to just sit and wait and let the troubles come crashing into their impenetrable walls. I don't know about you, but a turtle isn't really something known for defending its people or territory." Garland said with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
People were actively avoiding Zi and Garland on the range, they could see the two were getting tipsy and they could also see they were practicing ranged weaponry, a bad idea to be anywhere near them right now.
