The Floridian Festi Society

Once a dilapidated, old, abandoned house of some grandeur, the Floridian Festi Society have transformed the place into a bustling hubbub of music, interpretive dancing, and acrobatics. The Society was formed in Summer 517 in a 'newly' developed district known as the 'Ghost Town' by a young man named Brody Naive [pronounced Knave]. As the seasons progress, the venue hopes to gain further recognition in Alvadas, and as such several high-spirited performances are staged there every season. [PM your storyteller for further details]. The pink mansion house sits invitingly glowing most evenings, with light spilling from windows cast open. Despite the abandoned façade, the building is just about in working order. Intrepid visitors can climb the front steps and approach the peeling, faded crimson front door, where they will be admitted readily upon paying the minor entrance fee.

Ground Floor
Upon being admitted to the building, there is an immediate sensation of being hit by a wall of sights, sounds, and smells. The hallway is long and narrow, but during party season is host to multitudinous bodies pressed together, dancing and drinking copiously. At the far end, a rickety, oak table set up as a bar serves strong ale and self-brewed whiskey. Several hanging chandeliers, with most of the dangling glass missing or broken, glimmer with the light of hundreds of candles, occasionally dropping scalding wax onto the revellers.

There are then two doors leading off- one leading to the front room and kitchen, and the other to Brody's bedroom. Both doors are usually left open, as Brody doesn't care much about privacy and the front room has been shabbily converted into a concert/performance space. This room exudes exuberance. The walls, ceiling and floor are painted with huge splodges of different colours and spiralling graffiti. A few mouldering armchairs are pushed into the corner, but the space is usually occupied by yet more people and musicians. More candles line the walls, and the air is filled with a haze of smoke, both produced by the candles and by tobacco smoked by the guests and musicians alike. Another wooden archway leads into the kitchen, which assaults the senses with spices and other delicious scents. Food is served at random and at any time of the day or night. It depends who is using the kitchen!

First Floor
A flight of once-carpeted stairs leads from the corridor up to a relatively quieter floor. Whilst there isn't a party room, there are five bedrooms available for artists of all kinds surround on three sides by a practice/jamming/common room, for artists to rehearse together. This room is in use daily, and is usually host to the residents of the Floridian Festi Society House. This room is light and airy, as the windows are left open constantly. There is a place where the floorboards are missing however, and through this the downstairs party space can be seen and heard clearly. Stacked around the walls are old or broken instruments which are no longer in use, as well as more junk from the previous owners of the mansion. Most, if not all, is useless.

Second Floor (Roof)
Another rickety ladder leads up to the loft space. It is full of junk, broken furniture, a rusty pram, several chests full of mothball-ridden clothes. One more bedroom is located here- small, cramped, and lit only by a dusty window. This is the quietest part of the house, but is also prone to leaks when it rains, and has a family of mice living quite peacefully amongst the piles of stuff that litter the beams. Dust motes fill the air, alighting on the rows of whiskey jars kept by the residents.

Atmosphere
The Floridian Festi Society actively encourages you to mess with and alter the building's aesthetics on a regular basis. The is a fear and disgust of boredom and plainness, and if you want to go crazy and splash paint all over the Festi goers and the walls, then why not! The only things that are excluded are drabness and boredom.

Accommodation
Those seeking accommodation must first speak to Brody, the owner of the establishment. Only open for those with the Play Musical Instrument or Singing skill, the rent is 2 SM per day, and gives you free access to any concert or party put on at the Festi Society, as well as free drinks. It is expected, however, that your PC participates in the concerts and is an active member of the household. Those who keep to themselves or are overly rude are not welcomed readily. Those who are more willing to make friendships find themselves easily accepted.

The bedrooms:
-Each come with a house key for the Festi Society, and have a bed, table, and washbasin. After that, they are all highly distinctive and individual. Rooms 1, 3, and 5 are occupied, but the 2nd and 4th rooms are free to claim, as well as the loft bedroom. Once claimed, you may describe the room however you wish, as long as you PM this description to the ST so they can add it to the location.

Additional Info:

Bordy had a typical Alvad upbringing, if there is such a thing. His mother was an acrobat and his father was a nanny, whilst he took to music at an early age. Encouraged to be open-minded and free-spirited, Brody was rarely seen at home during his youth and got most of his education from the street performers he loved to watch. At ten, he picked up his first flute, and was sold ever since. Marked by Rhaus at 15, he praises Rhaus and Ionu in everything he does.

Typically, the young man is brash, extroverted, and sociable. He likes to see people enjoying themselves, and wouldn't hesitate to jump into conversations if it looked like it was getting boring. He has a small following of musician friends who helped him to set up the Floridian Festi Society, and it is his entrepreneurial spirit, intermingled with his drifter nature, that makes the Society such an enjoyable place to be.
