83rd Day of Summer

The noise of heavy footsteps and banging on the door roll through the house with the tiny Kelvic bat sometime around noon. Little Keyta just now begins to awaken as she tosses and turns and eventually falls out of the bed she had been sleeping in. She slowly rubs her head as she collects herself and starts taking steps toward the front of the house to see who it was that was visiting. Marlia had already beaten her to the door and opened it and seemed to be talking to someone, more than one person.

"Ah, Keyta, come on down dearest, your aunt Velyte and your cousins have come by to visit again," the Kelvic's mother called out. Little Keyta slowly walked over and found all four members there again.

"Hi again!" yelled out the youngest one, full of energy and smiling large while waving his hand through the air.

"Nice to see you again Keyta," said a soothing voice from the oldest. Only then did Keyta realize that she either was never told their names or she completely forgotten them.

"You do remember Jason, Lavidyth, and Marvehn don't you?" asked Keyta's mother from behind her. She hoped the names were in order, she first pointed to the youngest with his blonde hair and freckled face who then said "Yep, I'm Jason!" Jason was such an interesting name she thought, didn't sound at all like the rest of their names.

Jason quickly lunged out toward Keyta and wrapped his arms around her and began to squeeze her in his grip. Keyta first flailed about until she noticed Marvehn, Marlia, and Velyte all laughing. The Kelvic looked down at the small boy and found him nuzzling his face into her chest as he continued to squeeze her. The little girl put her head on top of his and reached her arms around his body as well and started to squeeze back.

"Pft," Lavidyth moved by us and took a seat at the table in the middle of the room, Marvehn followed him in but stood in-between us and him. Keyta began to wonder if he, Lavidyth, still hated her for whatever reason he had.

The sun had begun to crawl downward and the family continued to enjoy each others company, all but one anyways. Young Lavidyth continued to hold a grudge, and little Keyta couldn't figure out why, she had almost completely forgotten that he was the only one punished for the fight they had. The Kelvic's mother had gone to the kitchen to fetch a few snacks for the family to enjoy while they visited and caught up on a few affairs. She re-entered the room carrying a bowl filled with three oranges in the center and lined with rolls of bread for everyone to enjoy. The little girl quickly jumped up from the floor and ran over to the table where the bowl was just placed. She was the first to grab one of the oranges while others began to reach over her for the breads. Keyta nearly bit down into her orange when she froze with her mouth open and noticed Lavidyth hadn't moved and didn't have a snack. She quickly grabbed a second orange and approached the grudge bearing boy holding the orange out in front of her offering it to him.

Lavidyth simply looked at the orange and smacked it out of her hand and turned away, "I don't eat dirtied food," was his response.

Keyta watched as the orange rolled away as Jason ran over to it and picked it up. He rubbed the orange on his shirt and held it out toward Lavidyth once more. "You can't say that it's dirty now, here ya go!" he called out with a huge smile on his face.

Jason looked at his younger brother with anger, but snatched the orange from his hand and began to peel it. Keyta couldn't quite figure out how it got dirty but she was glad that Lavidyth was able to eat now. "'Dyth, quite your constant complaining," called out Marvehn from across the room, "be grateful you get anything to eat."

"Oh shut it Marv, no one asked you," 'Dyth yelled back closing his eyes while he continued to peel his now clean orange. The two brothers turned their backs to each other and ate the foods in their hands.

"They've been like this since we last visited," whispered the smallest boy from behind the tiny Kelvic. "I think Marv is mad 'cause Dyth attacked him and Dyth is mad 'cause Marv protected you." Keyta turned her head to see the little boy and began feeling guilty that she was the cause of such a horrible vibe. 'Perhaps they would get over it before they leave today,' Keyta thought to herself.

Marlia went through her normal formalities and offered everyone in the room a cup of tea and walked off into the kitchen. Velyte followed and left the three bothers and young girl alone in the room. "Still can't believe I'm related to that thing," Lavidyth commented as the women left the room. "Shut the hell up Dyth, this needs to stop," Marvehn said to his younger brother. The two of them gave each other a long glare while the youngest of the three walked over to Keyta and grabbed her hand and led her outside. "The two of them won't quit anytime soon, best if you just ignore them for the time being." This youngest brother was quite interesting, he knew his brothers so well that he was willing to help Keyta from getting involved before they even thought about involving her.

Suddenly the two brothers came crashing outside rolling on top of each other, fighting as equals yet again. Dyth using all of his body weight in each of his movements to insure the most damage possible and Marvehn grabbing most of his hits being more counter-active than aggressive. Without much time to think, Jason grabbed Keyta again and moved her out of the way just in time before they rolled over her. This smallest boy knew what to do and when to do it, was this really this common for them? Jason then let go of Keyta's hand and ran right into the middle of the two of them and as soon as he got there, the fight stopped, he had each of them by their throats and demanded they stop now. The two boys relaxed, all four of them walked back inside, and were just in time for Marlia's tea.

This was the first time Keyta had ever smelled the strange scent of tea. Marlia handed one of the small cups to Keyta and said "try it dear, you might like it." The curious girl smelled it some more and then took a small sip of the hot liquid. Her mouth burned and hurt from the tiny sip and Keyta held her mouth as tears fled from her eyes. "That's odd," Marlia said as she took a sip, "I didn't think it tasted that bad." Marlia was giggling now and she watched another tear flew from her daughter's eyes. Velyte quickly finished her cup and turned to Marlia to inform her that the tea was splendid. The three boys finished theirs and Marvehn even took Keyta's cup and began working on it. Dyth left the room as the two sisters spoke together and his brothers and cousin just listened.

Velyte finished her tea and Keyta was just about ready to collapse from boredom since nothing her or Marlia were saying was making much sense to her. Marvehn and Jason both stood up and walked outside before their mother and Velyte turned to give her last farewells before patting Keyta on the head and heading out the door. Keyta followed her Aunt to the door and waved her goodbye, and Marlia walked out with her to give her a final something or another that Keyta couldn't care less about.

The little Kelvic started toward her room to try and get a small nap in since she was well over exhausted but didn't know why and couldn't care to find out at the moment. She opened her door to find Dyth standing in the middle of her room, the room was in complete chaos, bed torn to nothing, clothes ripped to shreds, furniture tossed over, and Dyth. The cousin was standing there, just starring at the Kelvic at first, a knife in one hand, and the other formed a fist. "It's about time you die!" Dyth declared as he suddenly leaped toward Keyta. Eyes still heavy and a body just about to collapse, Keyta managed to dodge the first lunge made by Dyth, but when he thrust his arm back at her, there was nothing she could do. The knife he was holding was now in Keyta side, piercing her skin, piercing her stomach, and causing a large amount of pain to shoot through the little Kelvic's body. Dyth let go of the knife and quickly bolted out of a window that was still opened, Keyta took hold of the knife in one hand and fell to the ground.

Slowly the little girl opened her eyes, the pain was gone but there was a sore spot instead. She looked around to find she was back in her room on her bed, covers pulled over her and the moonlight peeking through her window. She threw the covers off of herself to discover bandages covering her stomach, the same location she had been stabbed, and no other clothing on her. She looked for her robe and quickly pulled it over herself and left her room.

The house was quiet, everyone was asleep, for once this actually bothered Keyta, she felt odd, and alone. Sounds of crickets outside chirping the night away, an owl in the distance, and a slight gust of wind against the front door. Throughout the night, Keyta tried to think of how she can become friends with her cousin, but nothing seemed to work right in her head, and only made the pain of the wound return.

The sun had started to peek over the horizon, and the sound of Keyta's mother awaking was a wonderful sound to the kelvic. When Marlia entered the room, she ran over to Keyta and squeezed her between her arms. "You do realize you have slept for four days right Keyta?" Marlia asked.

88th Day of Summer, 510 AV

Keyta looked up at her, she couldn't believe what she had just heard, four days? Marlia looked her daughter over and and started poking around the bandages. The little kelvic girl allowed her mother to do whatever she wanted and discovered that her wound had already healed most of the way. "I think," Marlia began, taking a moment to breathe, looking as though she were about to cry, "I think it's about time you went to look for you partner Keyta."

That day was a long day for Keyta, spending all of the hours of daylight with her parents only to pack her belongings to head out into the world. The moon eventually took the place of the sun and was brighter than the little girl could ever remember. Marlia looked at her daughter one last time before letting her know just how much she loved the girl. Keyta did not cry, instead, only looked into the moon and followed it out to the horizon.

The moon led Keyta to the ocean, there was a boat at the docks and she remembered these boats going out to the seas before. Anticipation lead the girl to sneak onto the boat which lead out to sea only a few minutes later. The boat was to head to some place the sailors called the White Isles. Finding a spot to hide, the girl ate her food slowly and waited for the big boat to make its stop.
