Quzon planned to figuratively destroy himself today.

Or rather, planned to destroy the weakest version of his past self through intense physical training. The location of his inevitable hardship was the parcel of land that acted as his front yard. The Myrian's prepared the means of his destruction by placing two heavy chains fifty feet apart from each other on the ground.

ImageAs Quzon set the second one down, he turned to nod at Seraya who sat waiting for him to finish. She sat around the tent Quzon always kept pitched in his front yard, holding her long sword into the air as she examined its blade.

“What’s the plan? I thought you said we’d be doing weapons training?” The green faced Verusk asked while glancing over at the weighted chains laying on the ground.

“Buraga?”

Quzon mused, wondering if the Settlement defender would take up the offer to train with them. He liked training with Seraya since she was an excellent warrior and likewise marked by the Goddess-Queen Myri. In a way, training with a tough female reminded him of being home in Taloba. “I let him know. He told me that he’d drop by after a patrol if things were peaceful. Ken Chi was with him too. He also said he might stop by to watch.”

In response to Seraya’s question, Quzon merely reached behind his back to retrieve the handaxe that was tucked into his belt. It was clear that only wore the belt for the sole purpose of keeping the handaxe on his person.

“This is plan: I pick up chain, hold it over head, run to other chain, place down, pick up other, run back, do ten squats, make self tired. Repeat. Then we spar… need train with axe.”

Seraya shook her head in slight confusion. "Just you? Or both of us?"

He shrugged his shoulders, then turned to walk towards the nearest chain. "If you want. Up to you." Seraya sheathed her long-sword before standing up to join him near the first chain. "I'm not just going to stand around waiting for you to get tired. How about this, we can alternate. You go there and back five times, then I'll go."

And so it all began with hardly any fanfare.

Quzon reached down with both hands to grab the ends of the chain. It was one of the chains he often used as a scarf to run with around the settlement. It weighted exactly fifty pounds which made it feel as if he were wrestling a snake as he bent at the knees to pick it up with his legs from a deadlift, curling it to his chest before pressing his arms straight up into the air. The process of picking it up already forced him to use his thighs, biceps, and shoulder muscles.

Once he got it into proper position, he bent his arms slightly at the elbows to stabilize the weight over his head while pressing his bare feet into the soil. His entire body was sent rocketing forward into a rapid sprint towards the other chain. "One, two, three, four..." Quzon started counting the number of steps he'd taken in his head to find a baseline number to set to see if he could run the path faster on his next go.

The Half-isur felt good as he ran, although his breathing instantly turned jagged form the activity. He kept his abdominal muscles flexed during the process to keep the anti-rotational muscles of his sides activated. This overhand carry would be worth its weight in sit-ups by the end of the day... That was one fleeing thought which cause him to loose track of the number he last counted as his feet stampeded onward against the ground. And before he knew it, the second chain was at Quzon's feet. A swift drop of the first chain was made, before he repeted the process of lifting up the other to run back towards Seraya.

The Pale Myrian heaved aside the chain that he was holding above his head, sending it crashing down onto the ground once he returned to the initial starting position next to Seraya. She'd begun her own stretching routine to limber up while watching the Mixed Blood run the course.

He bent at the knees slightly to make sure not to hurt his back while reaching down to grab the chain by both ends again. He pulled it up off the ground in a deadlifting motion until it was at his waist level. From there he used the chain like a curling bar as he flexed his biceps to curl the chain towards his shoulders.

A determined grunt of air passed Quzon's lips as he pressed his the chain towards the sky to lift it above his head. The strength needed to maintain it sent ripples of tension through his shoulders. He took a deep breath to both brace his core from the possibility of back pain and to recompose himself before squatting down as far as he comfortably could. That action loaded the sum of his stocky bodyweight along with the added weight of the chain onto his thighs which caused his heels to dig deep into the earth.

A grunt accompanied the explosive movement Quzon made as he pressed himself upright into a standing position. The muscles of his lower body each sang with tension from the stresses placed on them, but it was a pleasant sensation to the Half-Isur. It reminded Quzon that he was truly alive and properly building his body.

"One, two, three.." He counted to himself until he reached his the last rep of this set of squats. "Eight, nine, ten!" He groaned while pressing his body upwards into a full stand. He didn't give himself too much time to rest before running towards the other chain that laid fifty feet away. A torrent of sweat began to gather along Quzon's brow as his true enemy started to show its face. A dull, but manageable, pain of exertion started to form near his lungs proving that the Savage could lift weights far better than he could run.

Quzon almost made it to where the other chain laid on the ground.

A sudden pain jolted through the entire right side of his body. He almost through that it was his own body revolting because it was out of breath, but that thought was quickly cast aside from his mind due to the added force behind the pain. The added force caused his body to be thrust sideways towards the ground. To avoid hitting himself in the head with the chain, he tossed it aside as his body crashed down into the dirt.

Quzon rolled onto his back with a groan to find Seraya staring down at him. His emerald eyes glancing up at her as he laid there. "You kicked me... Was good kick." He groaned while pressing his elbows into the ground and sit up slightly. She reached down with a hand to help him up. "Thank you, I got bored waiting." He accepted her help, grasping her hand as he stood up.

Before he could say anything, another voice interrupted them from the path leading to his home. "That wasn't just a good kick, that was a damned good kick." Both Quzon and Seraya turned over to find Buraga approaching them.
