Hey guys. If anyone needs XP awarded, I'm doing so tonight. If anyone's sent me a pm asking for XP and I've missed it, please feel free to add it to the DS Request thread this weekend and I'll award right away. I'm really really behind but I want to be all caught up by the end of the weekend.

Hello! I’m not sure if this is the proper place to ask this, but it seemed as good a place as any. I’m just starting out, and I’d like to get my character Kamrynn on his way to becoming a Syliran knight.

I guess what I’m requesting are a Knight for my character to squire to and a thread for him to start his training. He grew up as a Page and began work as a squire, but he’s been out of the game for about a year and a half. (His mother fell ill, forcing him to quit his efforts to care for her, and after her death he was badly injured in an attack. Explained further in CS)

I imagine he’s had a decent bit of knightly training in his earlier years, but due to his hiatus he’s become a bit rusty. (Which is a good explanation for the limitations imposed by the starter pack skills.) Would it be possible for some of his skills to come back to him as he trains?

As I understand it, becoming a Knight is an involved process; I’m excited to RP the joining ceremony, but I am happy to be a squire for some time. (I actually feel being a squire striving for knighthood fits Kam’s character perfectly.) Does anyone know of any PC knights?

Actually there's this common myth out there that people can't start out as Knights. They can. All you have to do is take these skills... and be working towards the ultimate goal of them...

1. Weapon (Sword) - 30 pts
2. Weapon (Lance) - 30 pts
3. Weapon (Shield) - 30 pts
4. Riding (Horse) - 30 pts

Once you hit 30 in all those skills, then you can start advancing up the knightly ladder past being just a plain old knight and get more pay than the simple 30 gold mizas a week (or 390 a season - 7 days in a week... 7*91=13, 13*30=390). But thats actually a good deal because the knighthood gives you all your food, water, supplies and eq until then.

Now, some of the mods are extremely busy in Syliras, so finding someone to rp a more advanced knight for you will be tricky... but as a full knight you can do knightly things, work on your skills, and do social/adventure threads galore. You can also do flashback threads for your knightly quest from the windoak and to gain more XP towards your goals.

However, some people like to play squires, etc... but we don't have enough IC knights to really go that route until we do.

I added a section to the Syliran Knights page to reflect the fact people can start out as full knights.

===Starting Out As a Full Knight===

Players are able to start out as a full low level knight as long as they take a few points in the required skills below. Until they have the max required in each skill, however, they cannot advance in rank past a simple full knight. Players are encouraged to flashback quests of the past, do all sorts of social threads, and have adventures doing things that knights in and around Syliras would be expected too do. The Syliran Knights will pay starting knights 390 GM a season plus house, give them food, weapons, armor, etc. They must provide their own horses until they are higher rank - but care of said beasts is taken care of by the knighthood as well. Syliran Knights have special privileges and duties in Syliras. They will work the City Watch Duty while in Syliras (making rounds either on the day shift or night shift five of every ten days). And to be perfectly honest, they are almost always on duty protecting the city even when they are not assigned such and are in their plain clothing either at home or out on the town.

Ok, in light of this new info, I think im going to edit my character to reflect being a full knight in the beginning ranks. I appreciate the help, and look foreward to seeing you all at the gates!

I was wondering if a moderator wouldn't mind helping me do a flashback thread of Kamrynn's training in his page and squire days, to gain some of the points I need to meet the minimum requirements for knight hood.

I'm not exactly sure how to go about gaining xp I guess, from what I've heard that seems like the way most people do it.

Well, like a serial killer that first targets the most generic blonde bimbo in a horror film, Valimus is going to start out in Syliras, which isn't generic or filled with bimbos or blonde in any way, so that is nothing like the previous analogy.

Anyway, is anyone interested in welcoming the Symenestra killer to Syliras? He'll be on his best manners, I promise.

Valimus could always run into Kamrynn at the city gates. Kamrynn is a knight who works gaurd duty in town a lot. Just write Valimus walking into the city and I can have Kamrynn give him the 'ol "what's your business here" speech at the gates.
