The man seemed so tough, but as soon as her seductions became stronger, he became like any other man. Her light touch had given him pleasure, and Ray could see that, but with most men, it would take more than a simple touch to gain access into their minds. His eyes had closed for a brief time, but had reopened. His mind struggled to maintain control for his body wanted to cave to the longings of her touch. Perhaps the man was not used to the touch of a woman. If this was true, Ray would be able to seduce him so much easier. But still, his mind held up a wall similar to the walls in her own mind, barriers too strong to be broken down by simple seduction.
He had given her his name, and while it was possible that he was lying, his gleaming eyes told her that he was not. His eyes had then scanned the expanse of her body, taking in the details of her feminine figure. Ray was used to having men stare, so this kind of gaze was not uncomfortable for her in any way. It could even serve her own purposes for if he liked what he saw, he would be easier to seduce.
After running his hands through the dark tips of her hair, he had asked her name. The question did not surprise her, for he had shared his own, but Ray was wary. With anyone else, she would probably give them a false name… one made up off of the top of her head. It did not serve her purposes to have many people in Syliras knowing her name. Her fingers had reached the bottom of the tattoo, their pale length barely touching the mark of ink. As she pondered what to tell this man… Devlin, her fingers had worked their way up to the length of his short light hair.
His countenance was attractive, and while becoming closer to the man, Ray found that she was becoming more drawn to his physical appearance as well. “My name is Rayque…” her soft voice was barely heard by the man in front of her, “but I go by Ray…” |

Devlin was upset with himself for allowing her seduction to take a hold of him, even if it were for only a moment. Still he was becoming frustrated at this point. He would have to make sure that he was focused from now on and did not further play into her hand. He had already showed a moment of weakness, he would make sure that did not happen again. Usually he didn't just hold small talk for no reason unless he had some alternate motive. But so far he had nothing in mind. He had witnessed the girl murder someone so he knew that her morals were somewhat loose, which he liked but what else could she do for him.
He took her hand and brought it to his lips and kissed it lightly, "Well it is certainly a pleasure to meet you." He let her hand fall back down as he let go. A small smirk crossed his face now. Although he had no plan for what lied ahead anymore, not that he had a clear idea to begin with but he liked to have a general sense of what he planned to do. But since his arrival in Sylria his plans had not gone anything at all like he had wanted.
Now he turned away from her and walked a few steps, perhaps it was not smart to turn his back to her but he was not the paranoid type. The dead man's body drew his attention again, he was dying to know the story behind his death but she seemed intent on keeping that a secret but maybe eventually she would share. He stood there quiet for a few moments with his hands tucked into his pockets. Soon he turned back to her, "So...Ray...Any other murders planned for the day or are you free?" |

A wicked grin spread across the Kelvic’s face as the man had gently kissed her hand and then walked away. He had realized what her seductions were doing to him, and he had decided to put some distance between them, for while they were close, he would be helpless to her wishes if her seductions had advanced further. At an early age Ray had figured out how to use her body to her advantage. Women were many men’s weakness and it hadn’t taken Ray long to figure that out.
His question evoked certain thoughts that Ray had tried to hide. For one, he had paced toward the dead man on the ground. Even though she didn’t mind killing, it wasn’t preferable and frankly the sight of the dead man disgusted her. It shouldn’t for the Kelvic had seen many worse sights in her few years as a thief. Her whole life had been spent running from authorities trying to catch the Kelvic for various crimes, ranging in intensity. It was a hard life, and not one that Ray would have chosen for herself if she could have had that option.
Her plans from day to day varied, and Ray had no idea what the rest of the day held. It would be fun to try and get more information from this man by seducing him further, but she truly didn’t need to. It was possible for her to walk away now and all the man would know was her name. Although possible, it was not probable unless the man tried to kill her or something as significant as that. “Not planned murders...” a quiet laugh was given after speaking the words, “I’m free... did you have something in mind?” |

Devlin's mind was racing now. Usually he was so calm and collected but today he had slipped up and shown weakness. It was not a familiar feeling to him, now he felt like he had lost control of the situation. But it wouldn't be correct to say he was nervous, no he was not nervous. However his personal barrier was far stronger than any other day. The day had caused him to lose his sense of recklessness that he so usually carried. There was something about this girl that made him question everything he did, he just couldn't for the life of him figure out what it was. Something feels different...This girl...she is up to something, I will have to keep an eye on her.
Maybe he was over reacting, after all she seemed genuine. But no, she was still trying to play him, just as he was trying to play her. She had threatened to kill him earlier, now was not the time for short term memory. But perhaps he should try and be pleasant, why play this game? Dev had never had a friend before and maybe if he was nice to her then maybe he would find someone to confide in. His life certainly would probably be easier if he was more willing to treat people with decency and respect. Things hadn't been easy for him and maybe this was his chance at maybe starting something new.
Don't be daft. You didn't get here with kindness. Its not in your nature. People don't change., a voice told him in his head. It was true he could not change who he was now. His back was still turned and she was not able to see his face. His head was hung low and a smile crept across his face as he began to laugh at his foolishness. Now more than ever he was focused. Slowly he turned and a new air of arrogance about him and he stepped quickly back towards her. His eyes lit up again as he stared back deeply into her eyes, almost as if they were calling out to her. "Nothing in particular, however the company of such a sweet young woman such as yourself would be welcome. Maybe you would care to join me for a proper meal?" |

His personality confused Ray. Bold and unpredictable, but completely hers with a little seduction. His plan to play her had not worked out quite as he had expected, or as Ray imagined he had expected. The Kelvic assumed that the man was used to easy prey, and she was not easy. Maybe he found that refreshing, and that is why he stuck around, but one could not be sure. He was not a virtuous person, and she was alike him in that way. Simply spending a bit of time with him had given her hope of finding more people like herself in the city.
Ray had never been this close to confiding in someone her whole entire life… which technically speaking had only been two years. To the Kelvic though, the two years had felt much longer. Her years had been spent traveling, to as many places as time allowed her. She was looking for a place where she fit in with the commoners, and where her crimes were not noticed by any public officials. Syliras was definitely not the place she was looking for, but she would remain here a few more days only because she had not decided exactly where she wanted to go next.
The man’s charming words and question made the Kelvic smile. “Not many would consider me sweet…” her eyes met his boldly as she let her statement sink in, “but I would love to join you for some food, as long as you don’t mind the company of a Kelvic.” Her words surprised her as she glanced at the man to see his reaction. She hadn’t planned on sharing that information with the stranger, but releasing it wasn’t going to be harmful to her in any way. Ray’s walls in her mind, which she thought were strong, ended up leaking this fact about her. She had to make sure her walls were firm enough to withstand any of the charm this man might show during the rest of her time with him. |

Dev circled the girl as she spoke, he took wide strides and almost hopped as he stepped lightly around her. He was glad she had agreed to accompany him as the rest of his day would most likely be very boring. His curiosity was building and that was always his weakness. But he wanted to know more about her, he was correct in thinking she was indeed Kelvic and he wondered what animal form she possessed and he tried to remember more about them but he knew very little about their race.
""Splendid! Its settled then." He hooked his elbow around her arm as he began to guide them back towards the city gates. In reality he did not have much of a plan as he had intended to use the full day for meditation. As the walked on though he let his mind wander. "This city is so dull." He said after a few minutes, he hadn't really meant to speak out loud but he did and it didn't bother him, that was the truth as far as he was concerned.
Eventually they were back among the city walls and he guided her as they walked through the crowds. He was still not exactly familiar with they city so he had not a clue as to what would be a suitable place. He detested taverns for the most part, he enjoyed the finer things and made a point to spoil himself as often as he could. Eventually he caught glimpse of The Golden Dragon, it seemed a nice enough place and he was tired of walking. "Well how does this suit you?" |
