Goldfingers. That was the name of the place Moritz had been given by Father Manowar. When he had asked the man how he could go about getting land and having a place built that had been where he was sent. "He's a loan shark, plain and simple. But if you've got the funds, no reason he can't help. Just keep your wits about you. He's got connections, so if anyone around here not a gang can help settle land and get a place set up... Well, he'd be it."

Moritz nodded along, understanding what the man meant. He primary took out loans for people, who had to pay it back with interest... And those loans were to build places. So then why could Moritz not buy and build a place, but just paying up front and not taking out a big loan.

"Thank you Father Manowar, I will do that then. Oh but... Uh... Where do I go?"

With a sigh Father Manowar saw Moritz had gotten ahead of himself, and so began giving Moritz directions. He vaguely knew where the place was, within the Gated Community which was a well known place within Sunberth. He had actually been to the general area before for his job as a guard doing escort for workers, but had not been to Goldfingers which was near or within there. With a few general direction Moritz nodded his head and collected himself before heading out to the place.

He had dressed as his usual, though a bit lighter armed than he went at times when guarding. Other than a dagger at his side he was unarmed, but he knew he was better off that way in most scuffles as that was where his current skills lay in fighting.

Heading out Moritz followed along the directions given, enidng up a the gated community. From there he headed south, and just as he had been told the place was the farthest south in the area. When he finally found it though Moritz did a double take, unsure if he was at the right place. For such a financial institution he had been expecting... More. Instead he ended up running into a simple stone building with a single door at the front to enter by. Unsure what he had been expected, Moritz knew he had expected something more than this at least. With a shrug he headed inside, knocking at the front door before entering.

Heading inside Moritz found... A waiting area? Confused he looked about, seeing a nice little waiting area with chairs and a desk with a person sitting behind it. The well put together woman was going through some files, and simply kept working after glancing at the new entrant. Before her desk was two people waiting in line, and so with nothing else to do the Kelvic simply followed their lead and waited.

One by one the people in front of him gave their info, before taking a seat. While he waited two people had been led into a back room by the receptionist who would return later with them as they left. Finally it was Moritz turn at the desk, and the woman asked him the same thing the others had been asked. "Yes, whats your business."

A bit unsure how to respond, Moritz cleared his throat and eyed the receptionist. The others coming before him had said various things, mostly needing to borrow money to do something or other. Purchase a building... Buy someone.. The others waiting seemed to have other things as well, though there was only a handful of people total in the waiting area.

"Uh yes, thank you. I'm Moritz Craven, Father Manowar said I could find help here... I am looking to purchase some land and have a house built there. I was hoping Goldfinger could help."

Nodding along as he spoke, the woman moved several papers and pieces of parchment along, looking from one to another. "Right... Do you have an area in mind? And whose territory its in?"

"Uh... I saw some rocky land near the coast, without much there. Possibly there. I don't think its affiliated with anyone specific, its a bit out and not exactly what most would consider useful... Though I'm not sure on the exact spot."

Nodding some more, the woman checked over some notes, before meeting Moritz gaze. "Just wait over there, and I will come and bring you to the back when its your turn."

With that Moritz returned to a chair and waited, taking a seat. And waited. And then waited some more. When Moritz had first arrived it had still been early in the morning. Now though bells had passed and Moritz was still waiting. And then he had been left to wait some more. He had heard a few people talking around him, but most people were talking to a partner or silent and by themselves. In the time he had waited many people had come and gone. People had come in, talked to the receptionist, left, gone back to the other room, come out, and so on.

After what seemed like an eternity to the bored Kelvic who had been waiting most of the day, Moritz finally considered doing some exercises. However he stopped himself short, not wanting to show up all hot and sweaty and make a worse impression.

Luckily at that point the receptionist finally came and got Moritz, bringing him into the back and past several locked doors. Finally they entered a room at the very back of the structure, and Moritz met the man himself. Goldfinger. With a friendly smile Moritz did not entirely believe the man greeted him. "Moritz, nice to meet you. As you know, I'm Goldfinger. So, I hear you are looking to make a little home here in Sunberth. Working for Father Manowar as a guard... Currently residing in a room there as well. Been in Sunberth for a short while... And... Your a Kelvic."

As the man spoke he occasionally looked down at some writing, though it said a good bit more than what Moritz had told the receptionist. Which, of course, left Moritz wondering how the man knew such details.. Seeing Moritz reaction he smiled again. "Hey, I've got to know who I'm getting into business with, don't I? Anyways, you seem like a respectable sort. So I think we can do business. Now, what kind of place are you wanting to build?"

Surprised by Goldfingers sudden acceptance of Moritz along with his change of topic after noting things he knew about him, Moritz took a few more moments to begin speaking. When he did he realized dropping those facts Moritz did not expect him to know had likely been a tactic of dealing with him. It threw him off to have someone know such things, and also made him question what he knew and what else he might know but didn't say. It was a interesting tactic Moritz would need to recall for later and try to use himself.

"Ah... Well, a decent sized place. Not just a small one room shack. For starters, I'd like a training area, for sparring and the like. Ah, a kitchen, need a place to cook. The place I was looking at had a good view of the sea, though a bit steep so not exactly a place to go to the water directly from for most... So maybe some kinda place with a view out to the water. Some bedrooms... In case I have guests or the like... Oh and maybe a small place just for me, to live and such in. Ah... If possible, maybe a place to welcome people in before going deeper inside... And a small bath of sorts.... Some of those are negotiable. "

Goldfinger listened as Moritz talked, taking a few notes but mostly just hearing what Moritz had to say. "Hmmm... Quite a fancy place for Sunberth. Of course, over in that area... Maybe... How big of a plot are you wanting, and how big of a loan total are you wanting to take out?"

Here again Moritz paused, thinking things over. He did not want too little land, though most of the area he was looking at was not currently in use officially. That did not make it any cheaper though to make it officially someones.

"Uh... I think... An acre or so, seems doable. I don't know if I will want to expand later, but maybe down the line. I'd rather have the extra land now than need it later and not have it. As for the loan... I don't think I will need one, I should be able to cover the costs myself unless it ends up being much more than I am expecting."

A bit surprised to hear someone in Sunberth actually had funds, let alone enough to purchase such a thing outright, Goldfinger seemed to look over some more notes before finally nodding. "That is doable... Let me just check some stuff... If its that big of a place though, we will need to make sure its a safe place. Not too close to the cliffs or ridges, but also in a stable place that won't collapse or where mining was done... What kind of total budget were you thinking. Depending on that I can add or remove things, but the final budget will really decide things."

"Ah, I see. Well, based on the funds I have access to... And can get in time... And the things I want... I think the budget would be around... Four thousand, maybe five thousand gold mizas at the max including land and structure and everything."

As Moritz finished speaking, Goldfinger smiled with his eyes almost glowing with good humor. For a moment Moritz thought he had imagined it, but he was pretty sure it had been there... "Well now, deep pockets. I did hear something about you having some connections but... At that amount, we should be able to get you set up with a prime place. And it should include most if not all of what you wanted. I'll need to look over some things, talk to my people, see what they can do within that budget and get a basic design laid out..."

As the man spoke he began taking notes, before finally pausing and standing up. Once he did he started going through papers, notes, maps, designs, layouts, and all manner of things, before finally finding the one he wanted and laying it down before Moritz. "Ah, this plot. I can easily have a acre or so of this plot laid aside for you. Its near the Dust Bed Ridge, though far enough away from the Crypts and other older sections to not be a problem... And with the proper... Processing and such.... It'll be in your name free and clear. And it looks like there used to be a house there, so we can just build on that site since we knock its sound. Still has a few old bits left, but most will need to be torn down and replaced. Says it used to be someones... Summer... Home... What the petch is that? Well, whatever, it looks decent enough in size, so should suit your needs."

Looking over the land map Moritz inspected the part Goldfinger was pointing out, matching it up to what he had seen when he had been near there on foot. It seemed somewhat close to what he had inspected before, though not exactly the same place. However that was the best he could tell, anything further than that or more accurate was beyond his navigation and map reading ability.

"I think that would work. I think that is close to where I had seen before. Just... I don't want a spot that would disturb the dead, thats just asking for trouble."

With a laugh Goldfinger shook his head, eyeing Moritz. "Of course not. You think I want that old grave digger freaking out. No, it'll be well clear of any of his haunts. Just in that general area. Should be fine. I'll talk to my contacts, see about getting stuff drawn up, and the area that would be your acre marked off. Oh, but just remember. You said you can pay in full, and that's fine. But I don't let anyone walk out on debt to me. So once the land is yours and we start building, its on you to pay. Your a strapping guy, I'm sure if something happens to your cash flow we could always work out some sort of favor to cover it, but better to pay on time and we won't have and troubles. Understood."

With a silent nod Moritz responded, not using any words. The man did not seem that intimidating most of the time, but when he wanted to be he could. "Alright, I'll have this put in motion, meet me back here the same time three days from now, and we can see about moving things."

18 Spring 523

After having met with Goldfinger, Mortiz had headed back to the Drunken Fish and returned to his job. Nothing much had happened after that, but a few days later Moritz found himself returning to the mans business. This time though he had an appointment, and hoped to get some more firm details worked out.

Heading inside he made himself known to the receptionist, and once more waited. Now though as he had an appointment he did not have to wait the entire day, only having to wait about a bell before the receptionist brought him to the back past the locked doors to Goldfingers room.

Inside Moritz sat down in the same chair, seeing a small pile of paper in front of the man along with some writing equipment. Having waited a bit Moritz wondered how involved in everything Goldfinger was, or if the man just acted as a middleman for all of the things. Of course Moritz did not know anyone he would need to contact to buy land and make it his, nor to build something on it, so the man was providing an important service for him even if he did not directly hire or employ any of the people. "Moritz, hello. Now, I've got a few things here for you to look over, and something for you to sign."

Spreading out the papers before him, Moritz was forced to lean forward and began looking things over. The first was a list of dates and things, noting when this or that would happen.

"Ah so... Based on this... They cannot start on my place right away, other than clearing the land... So they won't actually begin building till.. Around the 55th? Hmmm... But they should be done by the end of the season, before summer. I guess I did request the place on short notice."

With a small smile Goldfinger nodded along, before pointing at another paper. "Right. This here is your budget, and how much your willing to pay, and the estimated costs for it all. I'll need you to sign that, to show your committed. You won't pay anything till the place is built, and its ready to be yours, but in the meantime I've got to pay the right people, workers need to be paid, and such. So I'll be liable. So this is just to show your serious about things, and that when its all said and done you'll buy it."

Looking things over further Moritz saw another list, this one apparently from the builder. Rather than a blueprint, the builder had just listed general things instead of specifics. The things they would be including... The estimated budget... Four to five thousand gold mizas as the expected cost. An acre of and near the coast...

A common area, four bedrooms in two pairs of pairs, a kitchen, and a back patio with a roof... The training area of course, and then a nicer cottage with an attached bath. It was all pretty basic, but perhaps for Sunberth was pretty refined.

With a nod Moritz signed the paper where Goldfinger had indicated, acknowledging it was all that he wanted and was a good starting place. Goldfinger smiled at that, taking the paper and drying the ink before responding. "All right then. They should be breaking ground on the 55th, so meet the builder at the land then to go over the specifics. He'll tell you more, and then you'll meet me back here to pay once its all done. Or you can pay in installments if you'd like. See you later."
