Ervis chuckled and nodded to the symenestra, then motioned to Kujol to stop. Kujol sighed and hauled the mage back to his feet, unbinding him and letting him return to his spot by the wall. "Sorry bout that, Lou." The mage muttered something under his breath and Ervis laughed, patting Kujol on the back. "I told you nobody would fall for this stupid plan of yours, Akalak. Shoulda just done it my way." Kujol looked like he was about to make some sort of comeback when Fiona stepped forward, clearing her throat. "Did you at least get what you needed, Ervis?" The old wizards playful expression vanished immediately and he nodded, "Yes. They're all clean." Fiona frowned and turned to address her guests once more.
"I'm sorry we had to subject you all to this foolishness, but Ervis needed something to draw out your auras and that was the best my esteemed collegues could come up with apparently.. But it still stands. If one of you had been a spy it would have shown in your aura." The frown was still on Fiona's face, and something was obviously troubling her, but she did not immediately illuminate her concerns. Instead the woman walked over to the door, unlocking it at saying something to the bouncer inside. After a couple chimes he came in bearing everyone's weapons. Once all had retrieved their belongings Fiona spoke again. "Our contact said there was definitely going to be a spy here today.. which means they must know that we know." Fiona unclasped her brooch, placing the holy symbol into a pocket and replacing it with a simple silver flower brooch. "I do not think it is safe to stay here any longer. We need to move," she continued as she pulled on a pair of leather gloves, concealing her luminance in the thick material. She then walked over to the far wall, tapping it a few times before finding what she was searching for and pressing in a small panel. A door to her right opened up, revealing the narrow walkway next to the canal behind the building. At the same time the bouncer poked his head through the other door and said simply, "They're here," before closing it and returning to his post.
Fiona nodded, even though the bouncer had already gone and couldn't see her. "Alright. It seems our contact has either been caught or betrayed us. We need to get out of here. In a few moments the girls of the House will pour into this room ready to distract whoever the Black Sun sent. We need to be far from here when that happens. If you have any doubts as to whether or not you want to be a part of this, then go your separate ways here. But know that if you come with us there will be no turning back." Fiona looked to each person in the room. Her eyes almost seemed to glow with an inner light, and Venidus could not help but feel a bit of courage when he met her gaze. "Everyone ready? Let's go!"
Fiona vanished through the door and down the walkway, leading the others behind her. The last to leave was the Akalak who closed the door behind them before catching up. Cicily the merchant chose to go her own way. At the space between each building Fiona paused, peering around the corner before darting across the gap and signaling the others to follow. They were heading toward the outer rim of the city and when they neared their destination Fiona stopped. Up ahead was a pair of boats, large enough to fit all of them on the two. A group of men were standing near the boats, one of them kneeling over what looked like a body. "Alice, no," Fiona whispered. The woman did not move, and after a moment Kujol moved forward and put a hand on her shoulder. "Come on, our escape has been cut off. We can fight, or we can try to find another way out. What do you want to do?" Fiona's eyes met the Akalak's and she shook her head. "No, Harrol. I can't put our new recruits in harms way so soon.. We'll find another-" "There they are!" A trio of men ran around the corner behind the group of conspirators, all of them armed. Their shout gained the attention of the four men by the boat as well. Harrol simply shrugged and withdrew his Lakan, speaking up loudly enough for the rest of them to hear. "I guess we fight then." Without a moment's hesitation the Akalak charged the three men who had appeared from behind. "The rest of you take the boat, I'll make sure nobody else comes from behind!"
The Akalak seemed to have things under control from behind despite it being a one on three match, but the frontal assault started off bad from the start. Three of the men charged while the fourth hefted a crossbow and fired, hitting Louis the mage square in the chest. Fiona met one of the attackers with a kick to the stomach, while Bartrand engaged another with his sword. He didn't seem particularly skilled with it, however, and was easily outmatched. Ervis seemed to be concentrating on something but had not yet made a move, which left one open combatant who was swiftly approaching Venidus, a large axe gripped tightly in his right hand.
OOCAll the bad guys are novice in skill level (1-25) so they will be a challenge but you should be able to take them one on one. Feel free to kill your guy, and engage another. Bartrand needs help, and then there is the guy with the crossbow who will aim at Ervis next. Fiona and Harrol seem to be handling themselves just fine. Any questions just PM.. OOC Number 2Also.. there really was supposed to be a spy. It was DraSimon.. and he never showed up. |
