A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

1 Winter 511

Today Clyde had gotten to the institute early. He knew better than to cut it close, or to risk being late to class. The last person to be late had been thrown bodily out of the class... Into one of the canals... Professor Lazarin had a bit of a temper...

So he found himself sitting on this day, waiting in his chair, with his quill's and ink neatly laid out, some parchment to write notes on, and a blank book he kept for writing in. He did not know what they were going over, just that it was not a practical class... So they would be learning something, though it was always different in such classes...

Within a few minutes, the rest of his classmates were there, they obviously did not want to be late either... So they all waited, until just on time Professor Lazarin came bursting in.

"Today will be a history lesson, we will go over a famous magecrafter who even now is remembered within our craft... Areesa Tallshade... She was born and died before the Valterrian, but many of her products are so powerful, they still exist.... Though the most powerful seem lost for the ages... A quest for many a treasure hunter and seeker of magical objects..."

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

"Through her life she become increasingly powerful with her creations, till it got to the point were some were considered unnaturally powerful, beyond what many a mortal thought possible. However as she got older, she seemed to have lost her nerve... She became afraid of her own creations, fearing what the wonders she had made..."

"At that point she even tried for a time to destroy her own creations... But low and behold, they were so mighty, there was nothing she could do to affect them, those that had not already been sold and were long gone. So eventually she hid them, trying to stop others from using them, and her creations were lost to time... For now..."

"However she did create something, it is believed, called the Powercube. Its location is also unknown, but it is reported that she left information on it which would lead to her other creations..."

Lazarin paused for moment, taking in the stares, watching as several of them furiously scribbled with there quill. Finished with the basic info, he went over the details of her most famous six creations, the lesser and greater three. Then he turned to them, asking a question.

"So... All of those items, lost... But what if you could find one? If you could pick one, which of the six would it be? Which would you find the most valuable?'

Clyde thought for a bit... Which of the six would he find the best?... First was the anvil of souls... But what did being taken out of the cycle even mean? No, that was not the one for him... Next... The Zariath... Said to be able to cut the Gods... Surely such a weapon was powerful... But it sounded like it would call down more trouble than it was worth...

And the last of the greater, the Kingmaker... Allowing you to lead people and bring people to your cause at a level no human could obtain alone... Followers willing to blindly go along with you, it might be useful, but it seemed another thing to bring down the wrath of the Gods... Maybe some day, but not worth it right now...

Then were the lesser creations, powerful in there own right, but paled in comparison to the greater ones...The Najim Pearl... Allowing you to keep as many familiars as you wanted... Well maybe if he practiced familiary he might, but he did not, and did not even understand its usefulness.

The Djed Eye... A false eye which worked and could be put in to replace a lost one... But most importantly, it doubled a persons djed reservoirs, allowing them to use twice as much magic, and to do it twice as fast, with no cost to the user... This one was more to his liking... If Lazarin had said he could choose two, this certainly would have been one... It was still his second choice, but as he had both of his eyes, he could wait on it... But if he got the one first on his list, he would go for this one next...

Finally, it came to his first choice, the one he would take if he could only have one... The Book of Roth... It sounded like a marvel, a book that took in the information from any book near it... The information that could be in it, lost to the ages, lost to the Valterrian... It would have so much knowledge, things he could study and learn from, to grow in his skills... He could become a powerful wizard with the things in it... Who knew what all could be found in its pages... That would certainly be his choice.... Though he wondered what it said about him that it would be the one of them all that he would pick...

Several of the other students said their opinion, choosing which one they would want the most. Finally it came to Clydes turn, and he said his, which turned out to be a different one than what all of the others had said.

When he said it, professor Lazarin just stared at him, pondering what he said... he looked at the other students, and something went through his mind, but Clyde had no idea what it was... But he was a bit unnerved, he had never seen Lazarin act that way, he wondered why he had...

"Interesting... Well, you have each chosen your own.... To bad none of you will ever obtain them..." He said this, with a grim smile on his face, the first any of them had ever seen on him...

"People have been looking for them for centuries, trying to find them, and none have been discovered... Surely within the magic community their discovery would be a uproar... And even if you did find it, how long do you believe you would be able to hold it? It would be taken from you, by those more powerful, more influential, more wealthy... For all the trouble of finding it, you would be dead, and another would be using the object of power, and probably soon after yet another... "

Lazarin looked at each of them, staring them deep in the eyes, a dead look which seemed to bore right down to his soul...

"None of you have the power to hold on to such a thing. Before you even consider trying to seek such power which is not your own, first you need to learn to protect it, and become powerful in your own right... And by the time you are strong enough to do so, you will either be dead... Or so strong you do not need it... But which do you think is the more likely to occur?"

Lazarin turned then, becoming silent, and abruptly walked out of the door. Apparently he was done, and the class was over. The entire class of students were stunned, not knowing what to say... They were used to being harassed by Lazarin... But this was different... But there was no telling what was running through his mind...

Slowly they left, assuming they were done, and they filed out... It was certainly the oddest history lesson they had had...
