Season of Winter, Day 5, 511AV
He had been there five days, for each of those five days he had toured the city, learning its routes, its ways and generally feeling out the town and its people—in all manners of the word—and he had come to find he truly enjoyed it in Avanthal.

There was a go-with-the-flow attitude that suited his nature, matched by their tradition and unique mannerism as well as faith. He enjoyed talking to the Vantha people and learning their stories, he enjoyed the perpetual cold that obviously reigned in the frozen tundra, it was the place he wanted to settle in.

Still one could not settle if on did not work, after all, counting how many days he’d stayed at the Savintar he would soon not have enough to pay them for their hospitable little cottages. So, though he ambled on and stopped to chat up any who had time he steps were filled with purpose, he knew precisely where he was going and what he was going to do. It was the second time in his life he felt as if he was truly accomplishing something.

Eventually, he did reached his destination: The Skyglow Hold.

“Well…this will be interesting.” He had never before applied for work, his father had simply given him work and other times he had mooched passage from friends and more-than-friends, so there was a touch of nervousness within him but he squashed it swiftly. First impression was the only impression and he was gentlemen, he would do right.

Wandering around the building he looked for the studios, he assumed if he was going to ask for work there would be his best bet and from the instructions he’d received beforehand it seemed like it was where he was supposed to go. Sure enough it was easy to find, the large panel windows showing off the inside of the room and all those inside perfectly, taking a rather large breath he raised his and knocked on the door firmly.

Upon its immediate opening he wasted no time getting his question out, “I am looking for work, if you would have me."

The Facts of Life (Cheshire/Closed)

ImageVanis sat in his office, a block of wood in his hands. He whittled away at the block, trying to get to the sculpture he knew was buried in it's depths. It was not often that he worked on such small dimensions but at times it was nice to revert back to the simple.

The knock at the door was glanced at briefly before Vanis actually rose to answer it. He hated to be disturbed while working but when duty called, it was his job to answer. He left the carving on his desk and walked forward, greeting the man before him with a slight nod.

"What work do you do?" Vanis' voice was calm as he spoke, his irises did not even flicker in color. While one who was not used to Vantha might not have taken too much note to this, the lack of color change never ceased to make fellow Vantha uneasy. It gave a sense of complete emotional control, although it really had nothing to do with control. Not in the slightest. Vanis just was uninterested in the man who stood before him. Many outsiders asked for work. Few stood out to him. The hold always could use another pair of hands though.

The Vantha stepped aside to allow the man to walk into his office. "What is your name?" It was a simple enough question, albeit not too important in the figuring out the man's skill. "More importantly, what can you bring to Skyglow Hold? What are your skills?"

It's odd how odd I am...

For a moment he faltered, unsure of what exactly he wanted to say after but the question from the man prompted him to speak, "What work do you do?"

“I can carve, wood that is. I am a novice, I admit that.” He shrugged slightly and offered a small grin, “but I can learn. I want to learn.”

A endless rainbow, though he had not seem many that is what he come to think of the Vantha people as and yet, not once did this man’s eyes change. Perhaps whatever mood he was in was his common one?

“What is your name? More importantly, what can you bring to Skyglow Hold? What are your skills?"

The questions were rapid fire, said without preamble or hesitation, that man wanted answers and he wanted work, fair trade all in all. “I am Majnoon Gerges.”

Here was where he was not sure if he would gain much from honesty but Majnoon was no liar.

“I do not know what I can bring to Skyglow Hold, my art is not up to par with most likely anyone’s in here but I can fix and touch up small projects while they begin more. I did that type of work for my sister often enough. My skills are not much but…I am an Aurist. It helps. Sometimes it allows me to see better what the wood should be.”

Though it doesn’t always come out pretty. But there was no reason to harp on his lack of skills, so he kept his mouth shut and waited for judgment, feeling his nervousness die down a bit. If he got the job it would be amazing…if he didn’t, well, the simple fact was he’d keeping looking because he needed a job.
