The Making of a Hunter [Kendall <3]

Couple miles south from Avanthal, early morning...

"We need to go hunting brother. You look much too tense." Ethan said the day before. It was early morning now and he was starting to wonder if this was such a good idea. Kendall seemed a little... new to the activity. Which was fine with the Kelvic. Its just Ethan hadn't hunted with a human either. Being a falcon took a little more direction than he was used to.

So Ethan sat on Kendall's shoulder patiently. Quietly scanning the area. In human form his eyes missed very little. But as a Lammergeier he was silent and all seeing. Completely focused on his surrounding. As they stumbled through the forest. Prey crawled and skittered away. Ethan assumed Kendall was waiting for the right moment. But it was clear the boy wasn't even looking.

Ethan smacked the would be hunter with a wing. And motioned with the other, to slow down. If he kept crunching through the snow at this pace they would never find anything. The northern winds where blowing bitter cold. Kendall was wrapped up nicely and Ethan had layers of feathers. But most prey would be inside burrows or hibernating. A tricking situation for any hunter. But most hunters didn't have Ethan.

Pecking at Kendall. He directed him towards an unassuming lump of snow. Small faint tracks could be seen coming in and out. Indicating a nest. From the size of the hole, it should be nothing more than a rabbit. But it was something to show for a day of hunting. The Kelvic flew to a branch nearby and tried to indicate his ideas the best he could. They had practiced a series of codes along the way to Avanthal. That would allow them to communicate in animal form. He used his wings to say that he would call out at the burrow. Hopefully Kendall had practice enough to understand. Then he said for Kendall to fire at the burrow. He kept repeating the code until, hopefully. He understood that Ethan was going to try and scare the prey from the nest. And he should then use his fire.

Whenever Kendall was ready to test out the idea. Ethan would screech. hopefully scaring the wits out of whatever was hiding inside. So Kendall could use his Fire Magic.

OOCDon't forget a timestamp!

Ethan was an interesting bird. He always seemed to know when something was eating at Kendall. Of course, that all could just be accounted to animal intuition but the blond liked to think it was because the pair had become such good friends. Kendall had been tense but he had a feeling that at times, his tenseness was a bit obvious.

Kendall did not argue or answer the bird. He just let him perch on his shoulder. The blond was not sure what to do as he waited for the bird to find prey. It was not until a broad wing came and smacked him across the back of the head that he slowed down his walking. "Watch where you are swinging that thing." A small smirk itched at his lips as he spoke.

When Ethan began to peck at Kendall, the blond winced slightly. He knew that the pair could not communicate well while Ethan was in his animal form but that did not mean that the bird needed to use such painful methods of getting his attention. He followed Ethan's direction nonetheless though. This brought him to a small lump of snow. It seemed a bit pointless. It was just snow, right? He trusted that Ethan was not going to make him walk all the way out to the Reaches just to make him stare at clumps of snow.

Kendall looked up at Ethan who was now sitting up in a tree. The blond watched him from the ground, waiting for a sign. He still was a bit foggy on the signs but he had a few down. When Ethan flapped his wings, Kendall breathed in and started to call upon his Djed. He did not want to close his eyes. Not out here. He would have to try to meditate with his eyes open. He thought of fire and it's heat as the Djed slowly began to pool over his palms. He looked up to Ethan, giving him a nod. He was ready when the Kelvic was.
