Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

The Opal Temple, one thing was indeed for sure it was hard to miss. The large white building with two towers, one to the north and one to the south…and the southern one rumored to be the residence or Rak’keli herself when she was on the isle. There was a large iron fence surrounding what could only be a huge courtyard that hugged the temple and towers themselves. Plants of all kinds were in these gardens, it was a thing to see surely. These gardens were also well tended. Trimmed back and precise; the signs of a careful gardening hand indeed.

The iron gates however were wide open; what was the use of the gates if they were always open? An interesting idea to ponder on but the truth was the Opal Temple was always open. Always. There was always healing to be done and people to aid. The Opal Order knew this and knew it well. The main building itself was impressive but what was even more impressive was what he did not see. Below his feet were sprawling underground areas. Workshops, philtering labs, all kinds of places that many didn’t get the opportunity to see. But in time maybe he would.

“Hello, welcome to the opal temple. How may I be of assistance?” The woman had a bright smile on her face and was ready to help. But something about her seemed odd…the glassed look in her eyes…was she blind?

Looking for work [Faraluun]

2nd of Winter

With every passing moment he found the city increasingly more breathtaking, and he found he admired every bit of the stonework to be seen as he walked through the wide open gates into an beautiful open expanse of courtyard. It was only when a voice broke the silence that he was able to break away from the allure of the stonework to focus on the task at hand.

A awkward small smile graced his mouth for a moment.

"I was told I could find work here?"

Looking for work [Faraluun]

The woman smiled a little and then seemingly laughed.

“Well yes, work can be found here. But it can be found anywhere now can’t it?” She said letting him ponder over that as she then made a sweeping motion with her hand.

“There is all kinds of work to be found here. You can assist a healer, work the clinic, help organize the library, tend to our many gardens there are any number of options all I ask to know is what kind of work you are looking for. There is plenty of work to be had. Only question is what kind.” She was indeed right though.

There was plenty of work to be had here in the temple. All kinds of tasks big or small but the final justification was that all of them had to be done. Every last task was important in the running of this elaborate healing machine. They had work, plenty of it. But the real challenge came in matching every person to the job they needed to do. To the job that would benefit them the most here. A machine worked as well as it's individual pieces, she knew this and the order knew it as well. What was most important was fitting every piece perfectly. So what could she make of this man? Not much.

Well not much until he spoke indicating the kinds of work he desired to do. She would seek him out someone to assist him after this. But for now she waited. Pondering carefully all the options she had in her mind for where to fit this man. He didn't end up here by accident. No-one ever did. You came her because you were supposed to be here, because you were meant to be here. Maybe it was to learn, maybe it was to be healed...or maybe both. But the end results were always the same. Making people competent in the skills they wished to improve. She waited patiently for the mans next words would be weighed heavily by her.

He returned her smile with a slight blush creeping across his cheeks, his cobalt eyes softening as they met hers. Awkwardness filled him then, his words spoken with little thought paining him slightly, but his uncomfortable quickly passed at the woman's continued words.

"I would assist the healer" Faraluun stated, his eyes meeting back with the konti's at last, and locking with them there in an easy stare. It was true he found the healer's profession quite interesting, reminding him of times in Alvadas when his life was uncomplicated but not yet purposed. Now weight fueled his every step, driving him onwards, and forcing him to be strong or risk breaking under the weight of the burden set upon him. He came here now because he found himself unprepared for his goals, and a deep desire to learn more about the history within the stonework of this peaceful city, his god and goddess ever pushing him onwards to excel. He would do them proud, and he would conduct himself appropriately to the cities customs because of that.

Looking for work [Faraluun]

She could’ve guessed he wanted to be a healer, she only wanted to hear him commit himself to it. Yes, anyone could be assigned to a job but it was a different matter to put yourself in the position. To say you wanted this yourself instead of being assigned to work. Every job here in the Opal Temple was key. Every single one of them needed to keep the gears running smoothly. And another healer, well that was something they could use.

“Very well, I think I have someone for you.” She then turned off walking down one of the corridors and motioned for him to follow. The entire time though she walked in the most curious way. She wasn’t rushed at all. No, she trailed a hand along the wall, only her fingertips though. She walked as if…as if she couldn’t see. Was that possible? If so it was a very hard slap in the face of the Order, to have a blind woman as a receptionist…some things though could never be healed.

It didn’t take long until they reached a stairwell and the woman instructed him. “Right, down the stairs to the level right below this one. Tale the long hallway on your left then two doors down on the left is a lab. Lym should be there. Tell her Merida sent you.” She let that sink in before she nodded assuring both her and him that the instructions were right.

"My thanks" Came his quiet reply to the woman, and watching her turn around he followed her silently. She walked with patience, a quality he found surprising, and admirable. It his years on the world he found people to be very impatient beings, always rushing to one thing or the next, but the women of this isle seemed to be possessed of a measure of calm incomparable to their surface counterparts, this woman mores than the other's he had met. The way she walked was almost carefree.

The konti came to a stop then, and Faraluun took up a place beside her, his eyes looking the the stone stare well beside him, and then to the woman. "I'll be sure to tell her, thank you for your council" Faraluun spoke, moving a hand onto her shoulder briefly to demonstrate his gratitude before he turned around and disappeared down the stairs.

Within chimes he appeared outside of the lab mentioned, and poking his head in, he cleared his throat to announce his arrival. "I seek one going by the name Lym, Merida sent me"

The lab was far from difficult to find even though it was tucked away off the beaten path of the hallways and such. The heavy deep blue vian wood door pushed aside easily; a true testament to the quality of the hinges and craftsmanship. There were several things scattered along the inside of the room. Among these things were several large tables and a desk, along with large bookshelves that stored both books and various intricate glassware that only a seasoned philterer and practioner of medicine would know the uses of. Yes, if one were to picture where healing was practiced this would be it.

Standing on the side opposite the door was a Konti woman with a few books spread out in front of her. She was going through them and writing things down in another blank book it would seem. But as to what she was doing was anyone’s guess. She looked up as the newcomer announced himself and she nodded.

“Did she now? Well Merida only sends me certain individuals.” She looked over her prospective assistant and nodded.

“I have just recently lost my former assistant, and she sent you to me to replace him.” She smiled and nodded.

“Tell me, what interests you about healing? Why do you believe we heal?” She said as she poised two character questions to her newest assistant. She was looking for certain qualities in her assistants…and could afford to be picky.

Looking for work [Faraluun]

With a quick glance around, he examined the chamber before stepping in and looking towards the konti woman once more. The room was furnished with tombs he wondered if shared a similar heritage as the ones found in the Medical Library, or if they where sacred works shared between precious few, though they did not occupy the whole of his curious attentions for strange instruments where scattered about the chamber, their uses he could only speculate. Perhaps the konti would enlighten him, provided she found him acceptable of course.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance" Faraluun stated softly with a slight bow before meeting her eyes, and taking a moment to consider her questions. "Traveling across the wild lands, I suffered terrible injury. Without the help of the Knights healers, I would have joined leth's embrace before I fulfilled my purpose. For that, I owe them much, and it would be a pleasant turn of events to return the favor. As for why you heal, is not preserving the precious spark of life enough of a reason, to spread love and peace in a world rendered ruinous by magic?"

“Healing is a delicate art Hadrian. We hold life and death in balance and hope that we can tip the scales just enough to edge them toward life. Sometimes we succeed sometimes we do not. Healing here is about bringing life back to those who need it the most. It is about compassion Hadrian.” She looked up into his eyes and smiled looking him over.

“I see you have passion and drive…that’s more than most. If you apply yourself you will learn much.”” She smiled and nodded a little as she looked about one more time at her lab. It was empty without a pupil to teach. She had gotten used to the early experimentation sessions with her former pupil. Now she was taking on another. Such was the life of a healer in the order.

His answers told him of his character which was extremely important to her. The knowledge she taught was dangerous as it was docile. A teak here and there and a simple mixture meant to heal could kill. A simple lack of measuring would produce the same results as well. Measuring and being concise was something she valued; but so was passion. The importance was that someone would keep going even when the going was rough; because for a healer the going was almost always tough. You were challenged constantly, and your ethics were stretched. You had to know who you were and what you believed in otherwise you would be lost. Healing was an art, one that many lost themselves in day and day again. Some strayed and took to the more twisted art of poison and lost themselves completely. But it was vigilance and determination that kept the true healers on path.

“Yes, you’ll do fine. Just show up around sunrise and we will start work then every day. If you want we can start now, otherwise you are free to go Hadrian.”

"That is my wish" He spoke simply, a small smile touching his features. It relieved him he'd satisfied the konti with his words. It hadn't occurred to him that he might not get the chance he desired, and as a result he hadn't been quite so prepared for the question.

"If it is not too much of a bother, I'd like to start now"
