A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Alea Davenport on February 23rd, 2012, 3:15 am

Alea laughed as well. "I probably shouldn't complain since I was wondering the same thing. I mean, about the Riamm," she said quickly, not wanting to accidentally offend the pycon, even if that meant letting her be offended solely at Lunar. "I'm not really sure how the game works with specific questions. The point is to get to know each other, so I guess we shouldn't restrict ourselves to questions that could apply to anybody. I think as long as everyone has at least two options for questions to answer, then it should be fine."

She grinned then and said, "And with that, I declare myself to have answered one of Lunar's questions. Now it's my turn." What could she ask that would not risk setting Banir off? Anything about the past was probably out. What about the present? She'd seen Banir carving sometimes... and starting off with something innocuous was probably a good idea, but she intended to start getting more personal with the questions. So far, the others didn't quite seem to grasp the point of the game. "What do you like to do in your spare time? Any hobbies?"

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Banir Ironwood on February 27th, 2012, 4:45 am

Sitting there quietly he waited for a moment where he could speak. Taking a long breath, the twinge of pain in his throat as he forced himself to speak. He needed to brace himself against something. Leaning against a piece of furniture he rested his bulk upon a softer stronger shoulder. With his gruff voice breaking into the air again.

"I like, Winter, cold is nice, sometimes. A Riam is a, child's pet, that is small, fuzzy, and cute. My hobby, is carving. And Falix, is not, ditsy she is, nice." That was all Banir had in him. That and he had no idea who was supposed to go next, let alone how this 'game' went. With doubts, uncertainty and general lack of interest in talking he sat quietly looking from person to person. The red in his eyes glinting from the light cast around the room. Even the shadow of his hood couldn't fully hide the small bit of face that was showing. The large, heavily scared and warped flesh on his nose, a large section was for the most part gone. Banir lowered his head again as he twiddled his thumbs. Those lucky enough to glance at him in the right moment would've seen the horrid gash.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Falix on February 29th, 2012, 5:27 am

She looked over at Lunar at the comment about her being ditzy. it annoyed her to no end as the fact that she was actually quite intelligent. She looked at banir as it was his turn to answer and smiled a bit when he defended her.

It being her turn again she looked over at the ghost giving him a slight glare. "I am not ditzy I wouldn't make a very good pycon if I was. I act the way I do to protect the feelings of others if that makes me seem like a ditz to you then fine, but I won't stand for being accused of it out loud."

it was quite clear that the small clay being was upset by the question. She rested her back against banir's shoulder guard and crossed her arms over her chest and stared at banir's hood although she wasn't seeing the hood at all, lost in her own thoughts. she had answered a question without really realizing what it was that she was doing, just upset at the ghost and trying to defend herself.

she knew that she was acting like a child but sometimes it couldn't be helped. She sighed and closed her eyes, a rare sight in it of itself. she then got up from Banir's shoulder guard and hopped down onto the floor only a few feet away. She walked over to one of the pouches on banir's waist and pulled it open reaching into it and pulled out a large lump of clay that weighed about as much as she did.

Taking it she jumped up on banir's lap and sat down on his leg before eating away at the ball of clay. After a moment she realized that she hadn't asked a new question. She took a bite off the clay chewing for a moment while thinking up a new question before speaking again.

"how would you react if someone upset you?" It was more of a personal question and it was obvious that she was was trying to cover for the fact that she didn't really know how to react as well as wanting to know how other reacted in insults.

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Lunar Scathefire on February 29th, 2012, 6:24 am

Shrinking away somewhat, Lunar felt he struck a chord he should not have. Maybe he should have used a different word perhaps? It was too late now to do so, but he couldn't help but feel a little sorry he had offended her. Frowning, he watched her, should he apologize? He rubbed his hands together, not noting he had no feeling in the ghostly soul mist covered apendages of his body. Glancing widely around at the people sitting next to or in front of him, his effort to look around could have been mistakened as an ignorant, and bored eye roll.

Get ahold of yourself man.. He shook his head, and returned to his usual posture and gave them a grin. Best not to get too nerved up around them, his face contorted into that of thought and difficulty at Falix's own question. Surely he should apologize first, so he did after a moment "sorry," then he cringed a tad "didn't mean to make it sound bad.." Had he done it unintentionally? Probably, but either way he didn't want to be on bad terms with more people, especially if they were friend material "Uh.. To your question.. uhm.." He stopped, Lunar played it out in his head at how he generally reacted "I guess with a smile?"

The ghosts voice lingered as if he had questioned himself, he had learned after his mother and sister had ignored him that smiling and acting like he had no care in the world would maybe quit their childish game, the thought of his mother and sister made him miss them more, "its better than being all wishy washy!" Lunar stated broadly. The defenciveness crawled around his voice very easily, while the soul mist around him flicked around agitatedly, lightly, he did not like it when people were sad. They tended to be useless in all mannerisms then, and it annoyed him to no avail.

The voice betrayed the face, even though he was grinning towards them, he was slightly annoyed at a few memories that had flowed in. Lunar wasn't generally getting irritated at them, but the air was unnaturally colder than before. Flicking his eyes up then to the side, he only just realized he was letting positively devestating emotions in again "Whos turn now.. I forgot.." Forcing a calm again, he focused his thoughts on a Riamm, he wanted one now... But only if it didn't growl or hiss at him, wait.. Is it even an animal?? Lunar pondered on the thought, he knew exactly what his next question would be when it was his turn.

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Alea Davenport on March 2nd, 2012, 12:53 am

Alea was naturally looking at Banir as he talked, his halting speech making her feel almost on edge as he was, as she wondered whether he would make it to the end of his sentence. When she caught that tiny glimpse of his face, she couldn't help but gasp slightly, though she tried to cover it up by clearing her throat. She remembered her first conversation with Banir about why he covered his face. She has guessed, half-joking, that he had been horribly disfigured somehow. Now she was wondering just how close to the mark she had come. However, she knew better than to bring it up in a room full of people who could get hurt (not to mention the poor chairs), so she distracted herself from the issue by answering Falix's question.

"If someone upset me? Easy. Punch 'em in the face. Then maybe try to claw their eyes out. Ooh, and kick them in the shins. And if they try to fight back, trip them and stomp on their back -" She broke off abruptly with a bit of a blush, as she realized that she was starting to describe actual fights she'd had, some of them with Banir. She cleared her throat once more and realized that neither Banir or Lunar had asked a new question. Did they not understand the game? If there weren't new questions, they'd run out of things to talk about.

"Anyway, just to clarify the rules a bit, any time you answer a question, that's also your turn to ask a question. For example, I just answered something, so now it's my turn to ask..." She trailed off as she tried to think of a really good question. She had been distracted by the slight tension in the group when Lunar (accidentally, she was sure) offended the little Pycon. To be honest, she found the Pycon a bit off-putting herself. She'd never met anyone that small, and just trying to imagine how hard it must be to get around at that size was giving her a headache. What was she doing now? Was she...eating something? It looked like dirt...

Fortunately, that train of thought gave Alea a good idea for her next question, allowing her to keep her thoughts entirely hidden except for the hint of an unconscious sneer gracing her lips for a moment. "My question is this: What is your favorite food?" She would stick to the innocuous questions for now, but they were going to get boring quickly. She had not told her friends this, but it was traditional for the questions to get more personal as the game dragged on.

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Banir Ironwood on March 3rd, 2012, 6:13 am

He felt the slight pain in his throat, perhaps he had been talking to much too often. Absently reaching under his scarf to rub his sore throat. Hearing the questions and didn't know which one he wanted to answer. Or even if he even wanted to answer. Feeling over his damaged throat trying to soothe the pain, finding no comfort in his touch he withdrew his hand. Listening to the questions and answers of his friends and acquaintances. As he heard their responses he kept trying to come up with his own questions. This was proving to be very difficult so far.

When he heard Falix he could almost feel the frustration in her voice. As she traveled to his lap he lightly placed two gloved fingers on her head. His silent way of asking if she would be alright. His attention was turned over to Lunar, the strange human seemed to be acting oddly. Or more oddly, or strange, his mind was quickly being pained with these thoughts. Shrugging them off as he turned to hear Alea's answer. Unimpressed and not surprised at hearing it his brow furrowed beneath his hood. Considering Alea's usual response was to make something worse it was hard to trust her to fix things. This was quickly learned even by someone as slow as him. Slowly he began to speak his voice almost getting rougher.

"Try not, to lose my, temper. If I was, upset. For my, favorite food, I like, venison. My question, what is, the worst wound, that you've had." It was becoming more obvious that his voice was starting to hurt. Finding one of his hands under his scarf to lightly rub his throat the pain still persistent. Wondering if he should just stay silent for a few questions if he might have his voice might be soothed. Shifting on the floor to comfortably lean against his piece of furniture.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Falix on March 4th, 2012, 11:19 pm

She had calmed down a little. She wasn't the type really to hold onto emotional grudges or anything so after that little outburst she was calmed again. She looked up at Banir and gave him a nod at his silent concern. Then it was her turn to look concerened. She could hear the rattling in his voice and could tell from her experiece with him that he was having diffaculty in talking and it was even possibly hurting him.

Setting the remaining pile of clay down she ran off again and came back about 15 or so minutes later dragging her waterskin behind her. She had kept the thing but she had no real use for it herself other than to clean wounds. She had gone and filled the skin with fresh snow and moved it by the fire so that it could melt.

Once that it was liquid but still cold she dragged the heavy waterskin ver to Banir and offered it to him hoping that the cold water would help to sooth his throat. After that she got back on his lap after taking the remaining amount of her meal and began to eat at it.

She looked to Alea "I don't have a favorite food. The only thing that I need to eat is a bit of clay a few times a week. Thats all the nourishment that I need." She looked around at the others and saw that Lunar seemed to be ageitated. "It's okay Lunar...I just don't like it when people think of me as something other then a centient being..."

Then she looked up at Banir against still worried about him before turning to the group again and answered Banir's question while she thought of another one. "The worst wound I ever got was when I got stepped on and had some random person's shoe impression on my back for days. Um...a question then. Well...I guess something for me to ask would be what does it feel like to be hot or cold?"

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Lunar Scathefire on March 10th, 2012, 11:48 pm

Looking at Alea with wide eyes, a twitchy grin in tow with eqaully flickering eyes "violent Alea is violent.." his comment was quiet, he had only met one girl who enjoyed fighting and trouble and she was back in Syliras. Twiddling around with his fingers, he looked at them, then the fire and to Falix again, watching her retreat, Lunar wondered where she was going.

Aleas question was hard to answer, he couldn't remember very well what his faverite food was and so he had to think for a few moments, that ever present grin on his face faltering. This game required memories... and painful ones, they only made him wish that they would begin travelling out of Avanthal sooner.

Even Banirs question had to make him think for a few moments, but this was easier and he smiled, the memory wasn't pleasent but it had happened "worst thing ever happened to me, I think was when I was playing with fire.." he winced, not out of pain but the memory, his mother had given him lashings for doing this as the family had been backhanded by the knights for repair costs.

The one time he had only ever screwed up.

It took him a few moments more to come up with something, so he just threw something out "and stews pretty cool" the casualness in his manner, only then did he realize how stupid he seemed to sound. Facepalming. Lunar didn't know what to do, if another question could get him out of looking like a fool then so be it. Glancing around at his companions, Lunar quick came up with something, well something related to home as his mind was on it alot now "anyone ever been to Syliras?"

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Alea Davenport on March 18th, 2012, 5:37 pm

Alea was secretly annoyed at the quality of questions in this game. "Being cold is highly unpleasant, and no, I've never been to Syliras." The game was supposed to be for people to get to know each other, but these questions did not lend themselves to elaboration. She did not think adding a rule about "no yes-or-no questions" would help, since some of the group already seemed to have trouble remembering to ask a question at all. She tried to think if Banir had asked more than that one pointless question about some creature no one had ever heard of.

It was time to up the stakes. If they would not play the game as it was meant to be played, then Alea would make up the difference. It was time to really get to know each other. "What's the worst thing that has ever happened to you?"

OOCBanir, feel free to storm out at this point. We should probably try to wrap this up soon ^^;

A quiet afternoon (Banir, Falix, Lunar)

Postby Banir Ironwood on March 22nd, 2012, 1:23 am

Beneath his white scarf Banir smiled, he saw the effort that Falix had gone through for him. As his small clay friend offered the water skin to him he reached down and picked it from her small grasp. Turning his head from the group he lowered one end of his scarf. Putting the opening to his mouth and tilted the water skin up rather than tilting his head back. The water was slightly lukewarm but he wasn't about to complain. It felt good and helped his throat, lowering the skin he quickly put his scarf back up. His left gloved hand reached under and began to gently rub at it. It was so long ago that he had received the injury to his neck. Before he could remember the whole details of the injury he felt Falix's small rear plop into his lap. Causing him to jump slightly, he returned to the world at hand. Silently he listened to everyone's questions and answers, his eyes shifting from Falix to Lunar, and from Lunar to Alea.

'What was the worst thing that has ever happened to you?'

Suddenly Banir felt the scars etched into his face begin to burn again as he relived a moment in his past. That was too much he couldn't take that, and the last thing he needed was to be pressed for this by Alea. Heat burned into Banir's blood, his heart quickened and he felt his muscles tense. Leave, he needed to leave, there was no chance he was going to talk about that. Not without losing himself to the rage he felt from the incident, he moved to get up. Gently picking Falix up and setting her on a table, it would be a bad idea for someone to talk to him. That wasn't something he needed, he needed to be away, he needed to calm him. Anger pounding in his mind, fear screaming in his head. He needed to get his mind off of it, and quickly, least Dira embrace someone because of him.

As he stood he walked right for the door, his long and quick strides granting him a favor. Each footfall heavy with his armoured boots, his breath drawing quicker. Pushing out of the door almost taking it off its hinge he embraced the cold air. Walking down the street he began to lose himself in the crowds, soon he lost himself. Wandering through the people until he found a nice quite place to try and still his thoughts.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"
