Hunting (Lyam)

Sylkra wanted to stay, wanted to know more about Lyam. He was very nice to her, and there wasn't a strong chance she would meet another wolf Kelvic. But she also wanted to get out of the water. She hoped he would get that she wanted to be friends with him. She liked him alot, even though they just met. She wanted to get to know him better.

"Lets do something special. Together." she said, but continued, "But I do want to get out of this water."

They both get out of the water before being completely frozen. Noticing the cool temperature in the air that was not enough for them to sit and talk without being cold, Lyam began to walk slowly on the plain, taking the direction of the city they would certainly reach in about one hour. Far away, they could indeed see some fires burning, and the mass of huge towers standing out of the shadows. Zeltiva seemed very impressive this way.

They walked first in silence, just happy to be together. The blowing wind dried their skin quickly and made the grass sing around them. Lyam sighed “It has been a long time since I’ve last been out this way… I’d almost forgotten how it was to feel so free.” He suddenly lost his smile. Since he came in Zeltiva, he had lost many of his wild habits and was not sure the result pleased him. Sure, he had met Nai’shee, his bondmate, and Nadya, his mentor. But… had he not lost his freedom? Kind of… He gazed at Sylkra who seemed to be still wild and free as he was few months ago. Would she stop running too?

Sylkra wanted the walk to never end. She wanted to walk around Mizahar with Lyam... but she knew it couldn't possibly happen. Eventually, they would reach Zeltiva and they would say goodbye.... and never see each other again. So it's time to make the moment last. Sylkra leaned her head on Lyams shoulder, not knowing how he would respond.

Luam was obviously troubled and Sylkra couldn't help watching him be so miserable. When he finally spoke up, she knew what was wrong. All kelvins catch it at one point. He spent too much time with humans, and not enough other kelvins and animals. He needed to be in his true form, do what he truly needs to, and be happy.

She responded in a calm way, "You need to do something you would normally do. You're not a human, Lyam, you're a wolf. Go hunting, make a pack, get some territory or else you'll end up like all those regular humans." She smiled hoping he would do so.

Lyam clearly saw what Sylkra tried to do with her advice. She wanted him to come and go with her. She wanted him to step back, to abandon half of his being. As her head was still on his shoulder, he freed himself. “No.” he just answered first, before understanding it was maybe a bit short. “No, it’s not the right way. I’m no more a wolf than I’m a human. I am both, I’m always both. I can feel right now the howling on my chest.” He touched his chest as if he checked it was indeed. “We have to… combine our two forms, not to choose only one.” He gazed at the city that was now standing just few steps before them. The metaphor was great indeed: he would go back to the civilisation, trying to combine his double nature. What would she do, that was another question but Lyam already knew the answer. “Here we are,” he said “Time to say goodbye…” A little tense silence followed and Lyam finally awkwardly kissed Sylkra on her two cheeks. “Come back when you want.”

Lyam obviously cared about his human form, and she couldn't blame him. It was like a gift to the Kelvics, something they couldn't live without.

Sylkra was very sad to say goodbye, but quickly cheered as Lyam kissed her and said to come by anytime. It was probably one of the best nights she'd ever had, it was fun and relaxing. She hoped that she would soon see Lyam again, but in Zeltiva you never know. She saw him walk away, so tried making plans.

She quickly caught up to him, and asked if he wanted to meet up again in the same spot tomorrow. She wanted to hunt with him again, he was good at it, and one of the few people Sylkra really knew.

Lyam heard her catching up to him and turned when she arrived by him. She wanted to do the same thing the next night. Lyam hesitated. The next night was free for him, of course, but he had many things to do during the day and was not sure to be able to take some rest before going with her. “I’m… sorry Sylkra but I have some obligations. Tomorrow it will be impossible but… Well I’m sleeping in the university’s dormitory, it would be easy for you to find my room, just use your smell and… well, leave me a message with a date and place.” He tried to smile but Sylkra looked really miserable. “I’m sorry.” he repeated before vanishing on the dark city.

That was a nice social thread with a good ending. I especially liked your conversation about the two sides of being kelvic.
