The tantalizing smell of the hunt still permitted Avon’s nose as the young Kelvic maneuvered through the streets of Wind Reach without a clear destination in his mind, exhaustion still weighing down his body but his optimism slow to fade. It had been a successful albeit tiring hunt if he did say so himself. He could still feel the adrenaline rushing strongly through his veins, feel the scents and sounds fill him-become a part of him as his paws met soft grass in a repeated thrumming motion. He could remember the fear scent rolling of the mountain goat in waves as it struggled to get away, having a slight advantage over Avon who wasn’t familiar with the terrain yet, growing quickly accustomed to the sharp cliff-edges that would randomly oppose him. Such a small thing wouldn’t deter the wolf boy, the goal of food so close; his instinct chasing his rational away like an eagle would defend its territory. And of course…the Kelvic could remember when his fangs had actual sunk into the goats flesh, past fur, skin, sinew, and muscle. The blood had been warm in his mouth, tempting actually, stirring up his hunger. Hadn’t it been the strict regulations of Wind Reach keeping the young man in check, Avon wouldn’t have had any qualms in eating it right then and there. The people of Mt. Skyinarta had to eat before any one individual was to be satisfied. The concept was very much new to him, having been here only a couple of days. It was so much more different than Lhavit, a sudden feeling of homesickness going through him at the mention of the crystalline city. Look at me, holding up the flow of things with these thoughts, Avon inwardly thought as he shook his head, walking once more when he realized that he had stopped walking, letting out a quiet sigh. All these imaginings were making him hungry once more, which made the Kelvic wince as he took to standing against the rough wall that composed most of Wind Reach, observing everyone with obvious curiosity. He had already eaten his fill already and dinner wouldn’t be here for a couple of Bells, leaving the poor, hungry Kelvic with a growling stomach. It wasn’t like he was greedy or anything. It was just changing between forms, no matter how instantaneous, was exhausting and he did it rather spontaneously-whenever the mood fit him really. Actually, the instinctual yearning to change was inching at his skin just at the mere thought of it, unconsciously reaching for the buttons of his vest before his slender fingers froze, scenting the air, golden-green eye narrowing as they pinpointed the source of the unquie smell. There…! Standing peacefully amidst the sea of busy pedestrians was a beautiful young woman with flowing red hair, appearing to be enjoying her surroundings and somehow not disrupting the flow of things. She was Inarta he presumed; the red hair was kind of an indicator. But there was something different about her…something sorrowful…lonely even. A twinge of sympathy filled the Kelvic as he stared, unaware that he himself was approaching the female until he was next to her, looking into her eyes with a burning intensity. “It’s an awfully nice day…one that should be shared with others if I do say so myself. I…,” the words grew stuck in his mouth as he looked away for moment in hesitation, happening upon a peculiar sight in the direction he looked. Not so far away, a boy seemed to be sparring with a hawk sportively in what looked to be great fun. The wolf in him wished to join the free-spirited play but he hesitated, a contemplative look in his gentle eyes as he placed a hand on his hip. Without looking at the woman beside him whilst speaking in his soft tone of voice, Avon smiled cheerfully. “See? That boy over there has the right idea. He looks like he’s having fun.” |

Standing in the Second Quiver, Aela readied herself for practice. With her bow lowered, she pulled an arrow from the case that was strapped over her shoulder. Placing the arrow onto the bow, she lifted it up and raised the arrow slightly to rest just above the carved handle. With her arm steady and elbow bent outward, she pulled back on the end of the arrow so that it pushed tightly against the string. She breathed in, her eyes focused on the red and white bulls eye. Her last hunt was still fresh in her mind and she remembered how her aim and slowness in pulling the arrow into the right position on the bow had cost her. She was impressive in her skills with a bow, but she learned quickly that being out in the wild with prey and predators alike that it would take more to succeed. Exhaling her breath, she released the arrow and watched as it soared across the room, crashing into the center eye of the target. Again she reached over her shoulder and pulled an arrow from the casing and slipping it into position a bit faster this time, before firing it. The arrow moved much like the one before it and came in with a thud, landing next to the first on the target. She turned her attention to the next target and took her stance. Turning a bit to the left, she shifted her hips and straightened her back to attempt a target that was further away. Placing another arrow into the center of the bow, she raised it and aimed the tip of the arrow toward the center of her chosen target. She released the arrow, then quickly reached for a second, placing it into position on the bow and firing it behind the first. A third arrow would follow just after the second pinned the target. The first arrow would land true, landing in the center of the eye while the second landed to the left of the outer red circle and the third an inch from that. Aela took a deep breath and tried to calm herself as her emotions began to show. Closing her eyes, she cleared her thoughts and refocused. The next time she went out to hunt she would be ready as long as she focused. Opening her eyes again, she slipped another arrow into position and raised the bow and fired it. The arrow vibrated as it cut through the air and came in hot right behind the first arrow that had made the target. Aela smiled a bit, knowing that her aim and speed had gotten a bit better. She would go again, pulling another arrow onto the bow and firing away. Once she was done, she waited for the dek to collect the arrows and return them to her. It was another sunny day out and it's rays lit up the Second Quiver. Aela had spent much of her time in the darkness of hotshop, and coming out to the range was her first look at the brightness that the day had brought. Moving back toward the wall, she reached down and collected her boots, before sitting to put them back on. It was something about the sandy floor that made her want to walk without her boots. Standing up again, she gave a final glance toward the range before she turned and left for the day. Outside the sun's beams welcomed her, wrapping her in it's warmth while the wind's breeze cooled her skin. It was such a nice day out and Aela decided to go for a walk and enjoy it a bit. She slipped her bow into the back of the arrow casing strap and pushed it down into the small gap. It felt a bit uncomfortable as the bow was heavy and pressed again her back. Still, she ignored it and continued on her way. Without much thought in mind or destination, she made her way across the courtyard, which was still cluttered with debris. As she passed the meeting hall and came closer to the enclave, she heard a familiar voice. Moving closer she noticed a young man attacking a tree with his staff. It was the same young man that she had meet a few years back when she first started to work at Perith's booth. It was a memorable day as she had learned about selling her wares and picked up a few tips on glassblowing. She remembered that he was blind and a very odd guy, so seeing him attacking a tree wasn't all that strange. Just then, and almost as soon as it had started, she noticed him fall down. Beaten by a foe who hadn't moved or ushered a single blow. She couldn't help but to smile as she nodded her head. With all the commotion, she saw that two others had been standing there watching him, as if he were putting on a show. Aela still wasn't sure if his awkward act was genuine or if he was just having a bit of fun with them. When she noticed that he wasn't getting up, she went over to check on him. "Are you ok?" She asked and waved off his bird, who it always seemed was attacking him. "Come on, let's get you up." She said with a smile and pulled at his shoulder and left arm. |

The grin she sent his way was dazzling, her answer bringing forth a playful chuckle of agreement from his lips as he sent her another glance, his golden-green eyes unreadable but forever intense. Without any indication of his actions and enjoying the small spontaneity of it, Avon gingerly clasped the soft skin of her wrist and led the young woman to their shared destination in a quick pace, a blank look of incredulity flickering across his face at the appearance of another woman. The fiery-red mane that was her hair was at length with her shoulders and she was athletically slender, the quiver and bow immediately alerting him of her occupation. She too was a hunter. With an unveiled curiosity and a light interest, Avon observed as the Inarta woman generously helped the other to his feet, gleaning a sense of familiarity in the way she looked at him and way the male exchanged polite words with her. Humming a low tone in his throat and realizing that he still held the hand of the female that he abruptly dragged along, the Kelvic leisurely brought his hands to his waist, turning to look at his slighter companion with a contagious friendliness. The emerald hues of her eyes were a bit stunning the more he stared into them, almost comparable to the endless green pastures that he loved running through. Perhaps…he was getting off of tangent thinking this way, turning his gaze back toward the two people. “Why don’t we introduce ourselves?” Avon offhandedly said, winking at the girl beside him before walking closer. Once again, his progress halting as the boy who had been sprawled upon the ground flashed him an impish grin, proclaiming his great victory over his foe. And without actually looking, the male pointed in the direction of where he triumphed over the evil…which happened to be a wall. Blinking in bewilderment, his brows furrowing in mimicry of his light-hearted confusion, Avon couldn’t help but chuckle softly at the small mistake, taking a step closer to redirect the arm towards the actual “evil” with a gentle guidance. Perhaps the tree was truly offensive. “I think your great evil is that way…,” he smiled warmly, “but you seemed to have done a rather good job vanquishing it. Even though it...actually still stands.” Golden green eyes shifted towards the huntress, polite but full of mirth. “You guys mind introducing yourselves? I’m Avon. And the girl with me is…” The Kelvic frowned contemplatively as he turned to face the other young woman apologetically, grinning sheepishly. “And I never once asked your name. Forgive me…” |

Helping him to stand, Aela looked to him a bit surprised. She remembered that he was tall and obviously had grown more now that he towered over her. His hair was longer now also and covered his eyes. She guessed that he had it that way on purpose although she wasn't sure. She looked away for a moment, wondering where the bird disappeared to and found him in the tree. It was an odd thing to see or unique to say the least. Of the Falconers she had met, they all seem to have a close bond with their birds and a mutual respect between them. But between Vaas and Wind Dancer, it was different and she wasn't sure if he respected Vaas at all. She looked back to him as he spoke and hearing mention of the horrific storm that almost destroyed WindReach, she realized just how long it had been since she last saw him. "I'm ok Vaas, I've been doing alright. Where have you been all this time? I thought you had left WindReach." She turned away as Vaas did, when the on-lookers came over to join them. The woman was Inarta, like she and Vaas. Aela was sure that she had seen the woman before but could not think of where. The young man beside her was a foreigner, his dark hair and clothing said as much. Aela jumped a bit as Vaas suddenly bellowed and swung his long arm outward. She stepped back and realized that he was pointing in the wrong direction, but before she could help him, the dark-haired stranger stepped in and corrected him. Looking away, Aela bit her lip and held in a giggle. It wasn't the first time that Vaas's jovial act had brought a smile to her face and always when her thoughts were at their most serious. "Good job Vaas, I couldn't have done it better myself." Turning toward the pair again, she listened as the young man spoke. His hair was the darkness she had seen and it had a certain shine to it as the light hit it. His eyes were intense and she could tell that there was something wild about him, but she wasn't sure what that meant exactly. His name was Avon and there was something friendly between him and the woman he stood beside. Whether it was from the closeness in the way they stood or because they came over arm in arm. When the woman spoke, Aela recalled her voice but the name wasn't familiar. She remembered hearing her voice in the library, although she never had a conversation with her. Looking back to Vaas, Aela smiled kindly when Euthisa spoke of their familiarity. "I met Vaas a few years back. He's....an interesting guy." Reaching back, she pulled on the leather strap at her shoulder and adjusted it from the soreness it was causing. "I just finished a practice session at the range, and I figured I'd go for a walk. What about you? Traveler, are you living in WindReach now, or are you just visiting?" |

“I met Vass a few years back. He’s…an interesting guy.” Certainly, Avon was an agreement with the statement when his gaze returned back to the ginger-haired male, scanning his facial features a bit more in depth, his curiosity increasing. The ginger-hair Inarta wasn’t like those that he seen amongst the crimson headed Inarta, coming to believe that he could be mixed with another race. Yet…that didn’t seem to be the case. It was more likely that his hair just happened to be different from the norm is all. Perhaps, if it wasn’t too much of a hassle, he could inquire more about Vaas’s parentage. That is, if he was willing to part with such personal information. Movement flashed at the edges of his peripheral, seducing his attention back to the young huntress who had readjusted the strap of her quiver from either irritation or discomfort. Idly, the Kelvic wandered just how good she happened to be with that bow of hers, if she was fast enough to best him in taking down prey. Of course, his methods differed in execution; the natural precision and concentration needed to focus a bow was at variance when compared to letting instinct and adrenaline direct you. Admittedly, he would enjoy being a spectator during one of her hunts, just to evaluate her skill and technique. A question was directed towards the Kelvic and he was momentary caught off guard, quickly composing himself when he registered the content of the inquiry. “I just came back from a hunt not too long ago…,” he paused briefly, memories flashing through his mind, “But yes, I am merely visiting for the moment. Should I find a reason to stay then my residency will be a bit more permanent. Perhaps if I were exposed more to the marvels of this city, it might help my decision as well.” Avon shook his head as if dismissing troublesome thoughts, the humor returning to his eyes as he grinned almost wolfishly, feeling the insistent pull to change. Not yet… “Enough about me. I’m more interested in the rest of you. C’mon…I’m all ears.” |
