Actually can I chime in here for a minute?
Sahova isnt TO LEARN magic. In fact it says so right in all the information you are supposed to read before going there.
Cool Sahova StuffWhy people go to Sahova
Many people see Sahova as a place where they can get favors from the undead so they can learn magic. Nobody could have ever been more wrong. Sahova is not a school of magic! We don't give out free lessons. You may head over to the University of Zeltiva, if that's your purpose in mind.
Sahova focuses on magical research and accepts pulsers who are willing to work under the wizards' impositions. Any tutoring happens because there's something in it for the masters.
Sahova has a lively trade with other cities as the Nuit wizards have a constant need for magical reagents and body replacements. Merchants transact their business at the Docks with golems.
Sahova is for MAGICAL RESEARCH and to expand upon magical skills. I would not be a novice in a magical skill and go there XD If you go to Sahova to learn magic you will be practically laughed at. Sure, you might be assigned a master, but you will be helping him with
his experiments and any learning you get from that might be purely accidental (especially if you are not a nuit).
You are basically a research slave there until you learn how to climb the ladder.
Next to that, you must understand that to stay in Sahova means that you have volunteered (or have been volunteered, coerced, etc.) to constantly develop and research the many ways of conquering the world in the name of the empire of Alahea.
---
As it had been mentioned earlier, Sahovan mages are given free use of common laboratories and workshops. Most items needed in performing duties and responsibilities are available for free in the Synchrograph Office. Unless you're still a pulser, you most likely would not even have any seasonal living expenses. And if you are a pulser, your living expenses each season should not be above the cost of a poor lifestyle.
It's a cool place to be, huh? Not!
In order to balance all these perks, Sahovan residents do not receive seasonal wages. While they may be rewarded gold or items within a thread, there is no money bonus every season. Instead, a merit system allows players to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Gah!
I just want to point this all out because SAHOVA IS NOT A SCHOOL OF MAGIC. It is a place of magical research bent on taking over the world.
