[Regional Quest] Beyond the Waves

The Regents were pleasantly surprised with the turnout. Though many left in fear of putting their lives on the line, they watched the signatures mount, until several pages were full. With all these signatories, Zeltiva would have the manpower it needed to attain some sort of victory in Sahova. Working alongside the Knights would certainly be a powerful alliance too.

However, when push came to shove, the Regents wanted the fragment for the University. Not, for the Windoak. Alliances could be broken just as easily as they could be made.

Young thief was, of course, in the crowd to hear news. She had noticed the Knights of Syliras and didn't feel like warmly welcoming them. Not only that they made fuss in the city, they were acting so... easy? Enjoying the break from their journey, she guessed. In the city they, just a little more than a season ago, stole fifty man for their selfish purposes. If there was organization she would ever generalize or dislike, it was none but this. She sighed, letting herself hear the Regent speaking up about the point of this gathering. Of course she wanted to know what gave them right to act like that.

University and it's researches. Someone would say she had enough of it after getting burned up by their asylum-escaper and fighting a shark while trying to research The Black Obelisk for them, but there were no limits to trying to get yourself killed. Of course she was interested in adventure out there. Out there. Outside her precious city. It seemed like a taboo for her to even think of that. Edges of her mind subtly explored the possibility. She could always come back. Could she? Would she? Should she?

Unlike many, her concern wasn't mortal danger it would bring her to. She didn't know if she wanted to go from here, to leave everything for sudden quest which would bring her... what?

Rewards quickly sharpened her mind who already got airy, exploring new dangerous possibilities. She wasn't materialist, but this was basically everything she would ever dream about. Free studies at University! For seasons she spent half of her money paying them off! Money was always welcome, of course. And status? Status was what lured her out to this quest the most. She always wanted to be known, especially within this city. She also wanted this city to be known for her, at least in sailor circles. It wasn't much towards fulfilling her whole dream, but it was huge step forward. Lifetime opportunity, without a doubt.

She sighed, looking at the ocean once again, thinking of her newest treasure, rowboat with animated wheels, she surely won't be able to bring. She was sure Tock would take good care of it some more, until she comes back. She will come back. She wasn't sure who was she convincing. She turned back to the city which rose into mountains behind them. Goodbye, my friend, she thought with teary eyes, signing the list with her slightly shaking hand, which made her awful handwriting even messier.

[Regional Quest] Beyond the Waves

Postby Ignotus Everto on July 19th, 2012, 4:35 am

It hadn't been a very eventful day for Ignotus up to this point. He'd heard Maria was addressing the city, and had come out of a vague sense of duty and curiosity, but he hadn't expected anything interesting. But free tuition? Being lauded as a hero? An artifact on Sahova? It was true that he was planning to go there eventually, but it felt so soon... He'd barely learned anything since he came here, to leave so suddenly?

"Well... I was going to Ravok after all... It wouldn't be hard to tell Levi I'm going ahead to make sure the journey's smooth..." He hardly took notice of the people signing up in front of him other than a quick look to see their faces. It seemed a sizable party. Sizable enough that the wizards at Sahova wouldn't tear him apart when he got there. Besides, he'd learn plenty on the field... Far more than what he'd learn decomposing. Yes, it would be wise to go. Assuming he lived, he'd never have to worry about money again. And after that, he'd be welcome in Sahova as a familiar face... In other words, a perfect opportunity. He took the pen and wrote his name down in a fluid cursive. "Ignotus." After a moments hesitation, he set the pen down without writing a surname. He wasn't really an Everto any more. He hadn't been for thirty years. He swallowed and turned to return to the University, bile rising up in his throat as he came to terms with what exactly he just did.

There were books to read, scrolls to write, spells to practice, and all in a few weeks. He almost regretted putting his name down already, but he repeated the reasons for going to himself, and the tumult of his thoughts calmed down. He had time. He had plenty of time. With some careful management, he'd have everything he needed for the trip. Levi would be easy enough to persuade. Heck, he might even manage to drag him along... There was no need to panic. He smiled faintly as he continued down the cobblestone road. He had work to do...
A thousand thanks to Phoenix for the gorgeous blue frame, and a thousand more to Edreina for her beautiful magic-themed one!
