The Serpent and The Redhead
Qist and Savitaire
12th Day of Fall, 512 AV~~ Late Evening (19th Bell)

Qist sat at her usual table in the middle of the room. Oddly, she found it to be the most private part in the entire tavern. It allowed her to swivel about, watching nearly everything--and one-- in the room, save the bar. Then again, who really wanted to see a line of exceptionally drunk men spilling out their hearts over a mug of ale? Not her, that was for certain.

See, Qi would much rather sit alone in the middle of the room, watching others converse; it was always more interesting to watch someone else argue or flirt or what have you, especially after a long day of listening to nothing but the forest and her own thoughts. Simply put, the redhead was an introvert when drinking. Her problems were her own, no one elses. It didn't help, either, that most of these men and women were human. Human. Qi scoffed at the thought of the species. To her, they worth just as much as the dirt she walked on.

Feeling herself on the verge of an internal arguement, Qist lifted her mug. She allowed the alcohol to carry down such tiring thoughts to her stomach, where they would be quickly digested until they no longer existed. Sighing, the redhead pulled her right leg up and folded it under her left. Slowly, she lowered her head to nibble lightly on the edge of her mug. Another sigh escaped between two nibbles. It appeared that today alcohol wouldn't be nearly enough to cure her of her melancholy. She needed something more.
But what could be more fun than alcohol? She paused momentarily to answer her voice. "I don't know." Unlike many times before now, she was honest with this voice. Normally, she'd shake it off, or, if it was being particularily pesky, punch a tree. Today, however, the pair would work together.

Herbs? "Too smelly." Her mouth barely opened, letting the words slip out in a choppy muttering. And expensive, I suppose. Plus you'd have to leave. Qist nodded. She wouldn't leave until she felt better, that was for sure. If she were to stay here, wasting her valuable time on barely anything, she were to have fun. A lot of fun. Or else.

Taverns were fascinating places, filled with all sorts of things taking place all centered around good food and drink. It wasn’t uncommon for a certain six foot four, dark haired and grey eyed man to come in around this time. Usually he managed to find interesting company that was more than happy to buy him a drink and even a bowl of the day’s stew. Savitaire was tall for the usually average of five foot eleven, but it wasn’t uncommon for someone to be nearish to his height. He was a lithe and stocky one hundred and ninety five pounds. It wasn’t these things that would really draw eyes however, it was the way he moved and the confidence he held himself with. He had a fluid grace to his movements, an aura of Other that was predatory even if it wasn’t hostile or threatening. His gaze when focused on someone or something had his full, undivided, attention in such a way that made it clear he paid close attention. His attire was dark brown leather pants, knee high doe skin boots, a long sleeved linen tunic and a leather vest. The form fitting clothing suited his form quite well and other than the leather drawstring bag slung over his shoulder he seemed to appear at home within the place.

A few people looked him over drawing his own gaze, but the subtle shift in posture spoke that they decided they didn’t want to start a fight. There was always those that looked at someone clearly an outsider and tried to start something. In Savitaire’s case the ease with which he held himself spoke for its self, he knew how to fight and knew how to defend himself. There was only one table that didn’t have several people sitting at it, grey eyes lit upon the woman and took their time studying her. The very first thing he noticed was her hair, the vibrant red stood out against the common browns, spattering of black and occasional blondes like a poppy in full bloom in a sea of green. He had never seen someone with red hair, the color alone would have attracted him, but the owner of such color herself was quite pretty. It was her expression, paired with the mug, that suggested to him something was amiss. She seemed to be upset, her gaze studying those around her with attention, but the occasional movement of her lips speaking of near silent company-less conversation.

He walked over and motioned to a chair across from her “May I join you miss? Your table is the only one not filled with overly drunk company and you seem, if I may be a tad forward, rather upset. The man who left you here alone knows not what he left behind and…I would gladly share your company in his place, if you’ll have me?”

He had been working hard all summer to make his pronunciations of his ‘s’s seem normal and while his accent was common in the region he was from, so far he felt sure that the stress on the s sounds was gone. That was really his only telltale to his race, that and the fact horses often couldn’t stand his company when they caught whiff of him. He was a predator, they knew it as only a prey beast could and while the humanoid owners cared not to listen when they gave warning, he knew they knew. This red headed woman would probably only see a charming, handsome man requesting her company and that suited the Dhani just fine. Company was always better than being alone and he wanted to make sure she left with a smile and in good spirits, especially if that meant he could snag free food and drink!

After herbs, Qist's next option for "fun" was the bard in the corner. She attempted to grasp the general jist of his song, but her attention was quickly lost. Her eyes skipped back across the crowd, watching for anyone interesting to enter the scene. Unfortunately, the throng of people inside the tavern was familiar; being a regular, she knew all these faces well. They, like her own face, were all worn from short days of long work, and they all smiled as their inhibitions floated away.

Alcohol was good for that. It made everything unpleasant drift away. In fact, Qist often found herself being rather antisocial until she was at least a couple mugs under. This made the men more handsome, the company more intelligent and pick up lines much, much more enjoyable. However, as a man approached her table, Qi found herself glad that she had had only one mug of ale. He was attractive to say the least. The redhead couldn't decide whether it was the exotic glow about him or the idea of a surely fit body beneath his clothes that was more enticing to her. Either way, it took a moment for her to recover from his materialization. "Of course." She sat up, pulling her shoulders back and letting her hair drop down in waves down her back. "And not so much upset as," She shrugged, gingerly sipping her ale. She placed the mug down, though she left a comforting hand on the handle, and let her tongue lightly rim the very inner part of her lips. With a shine now about her lips, her tongue retreated back into the safety of her mouth before she spoke once more. "Lonely."
Oh, I wonder why. She brushed off the voice, not wishing to scare away such a beautiful person so quickly.

A small grin flashed across her features as she thought about the last half of what he said. Though there was no man, as there normally wasn't, here before him, Qist was in no hurry to correct him. It was this thought, this urge to please this stranger, that compelled her to wonder...he didn't often get denied, did he? "Does anyone ever say no?" Smiling, she let her eyes send an appreciative glance over his body. She'd probably regret asking in a moment, but at least she had gotten a nice look at him first.

Savitaire pulled out the chair and slid in ducking his head slightly as a grin flashed across his face. “From time to time, but…I can be very persuasive. It is said persistence is a virtue no? I have that and patience in abundance, no one has said no twice. Are you thinking of denying me?”

His tone was a shade teasing as he met her gaze with his own, mischief glinted in the silver grey glitter. He was also quite serious, he could go to great lengths to charm the person he was dead set on charming. He set his bag down at his feet running a hand through his chin length hair, it had gotten longer and was starting to curl. A particularly loud patron behind him brayed like a mule with laughter, but his attention didn’t waver. “Name what you’d want from me for a precious moment of your company miss and I’ll happily let you double it for your name as well.”

It is said serpents have silver tongues, but Savi only exercised his charm when he sought a particular gem set before him. So she was lonely, that was even worse than what he had thought, he would make sure for certain that she left in high spirits. It seemed to him that if a person was unhappy after leaving a place meant for a good time, there was a serious problem.

Qist let loose a mischievious smile of her own. How pesuasive is "very persuasive"? She wondered what tactics this man would employ, how he would use his abundances to his advantage. Would he seduce, or would he swoon? Perhaps he had a sensitive side to flaunt, or tales of heroics to share. Whatever his strategy, the redhead saw no way for this to go wrong for her. She dropped her gaze, examining the details of the table. "What if I said I were?" After asking, she let just her eyes flutter back up to meet his gaze. "Then what, Mister Persistence?"

She put the latter half of his words to the side, waiting until he answered her before revealing anything to him. Some would call it a trust issue, but Qi would much rather call it a precaution. Though he seemed nice, there were too many times were she'd fallen victim to a "good man." This time, however, she would save her mizas, and her dignity. For now, at least.

OOC :
So sorry for the short and content-lacking post...I'm not feeling so hot today. Definitely will give you better quality responses soon, though. :) No worries.

Savitaire sat back his grey eyes glittering a ghost of a smirk on his lips “I suppose I could get on my knees and beg, maybe stand on the top of the table calling out what I see as your virtues to everyone here or maybe both. For a beautiful woman anything can be done if one is brave enough, it is said that wars can even start over the beauty of a woman.”

He would probably not go so far as to kill for her, but anything not violent or deadly he’d probably do. He doubted that she’d want the attention he’d happily generate, especially since all the drunks might agree so much that a fight might break out just because someone didn’t flatter good enough. A bar brawl sounded like a lot of fun, but he wasn’t in the mood for a fight.

[The Rearing Stallion] The Serpent and The Redhead (Savi)

Postby Qist Tiere on September 16th, 2012, 6:17 am

Qist sat back, sipping her ale lightly. She wondered where she'd draw the line between flattery and truth in his words. Perhaps he wasn't bluffing; maybe he really would start a scene. It wouldn't surprise her. After all, he was handsome; those kind of looks had to give you confidence. Even so, the Inarta was never one to turn down a dare. "Oh, you could," She smiled down the rim of her mug, letting her foggy eyes carry the challenge the trail-off her voice suggested.

Imagine her surprise when the man stood, placing one leg on the table between them. Really? You've got to be joking! Her cheeks flushed, rivalling the bright red of her hair. Qi carefully placed her mug on the table, reaching out to him. "Okay, okay!" Her petite hands tugged at him, forcing her to stand a bit to nab some extra leverage. A nervous laugh slithered its way into the air; was he truly that serious? Did he not think this was rather...fast? The two had met only moments ago, and, somehow, he had such deep feelings for her. Qist, being as new to this game as a newborn, confused easily with such social interactions, not knowing what was the norm or what was outside the box."Really, please, sit."

Note to Storyteller :
Savi did grant slight mod permission.

Savitaire sat back down with a grin “Now you see why no one ever says no twice, you set me a challenge, I could not resist. If you are worried about what I wish, don’t, I am just happy for the company eating alone is upsetting and you seemed to need company as much as I.”

It was true too, if she wanted nothing else from him he’d be happy, if she wanted more he would be happy, regardless she set the speed not him. He didn’t like sitting alone nor did he like seeing a woman upset. “So may I have your name now?”

Qi hooked the leg of her seat with her foot, bringing it a bit closer to the man as she sat. So he wasn't kidding; his intentions were clearly strewn across the table now. All Qist had to do was play her own cards right. Great. As with most things, this was easier said than done. She wished things could always be straightforward. The entire cat-and-mouse game was useless to her, not only because she was terrible at it, but also because it didn't suit her lifestyle. The Inartan prided herself on openness, letting her body and heart make decisions that her mind could later justify.

Nevertheless, if she had to play games to earn her night of fun, she would. Her hand swept across her hair, gathering it in her hands as she revealed the smooth, pale skin previously covered. As her tresses formed a lava flow over her right shoulder, Qi smiled lightly at her company. "Alright," Her eyebrows jerked upwards as she lifted her hands in defeat. "You win." Leaning towards him, she outstretched her hand to offer a handshake. "I'm Qist."

As the protective walls around her crumbled, the young lady wondered if what she was doing was right. She knew nothing of this man, where he came from, what he was doing here...and yet here she was, willing to surrender her chastity for him. She could hear her mother scorning her from across the castle. Not that I give a petch about her word anymore...

He saw her relax and some of the wariness from her eyes disappear, this was good, it was never a good thing to have one person constantly on edge. He extended his own hand shaking hers “My name is Savitaire, but if its too much of a mouthful call me simply ‘Savi’. It’s a pleasure to have your company…”

It lapsed in to silence, but that didn’t bother him, whether talking or not he was comfortable regardless. Things happened at their own pace and trying to rush things only made situations awkward. He could see that she wasn’t fully comfortable with him yet, that would take time and he hoped by the end when or if they parted ways she’d feel fully comfortable. There wasn’t really anything he had to hide, though he’d rather not talk about what he was lest he scare her off, but he wasn’t ashamed of what he was. So he was pretty much open to talking about anything, she’d find that out eventually.
