Knocking On Syliras' Door

Fall 57 512AV
As the cooler air thickened into a more moderate temperature, Gallo knew he grew closer to the city he was tasked to. The young man, who wore heavy robes as well as a bag that held various traveling items appeared to be nothing but a tourist. Gallo had found the Kabrin Road and followed it off a tip from a friend. Soon his eyes were met with that of the great gate that served as Syliras' only exit and entrance.

"Hmm, here I am. Not to late to turn back," Gallo thought to himself as his feet continued to walk toward the busy entrance.

"Of course! Look at how obviously fortified it is. Yet," Gallo passed by the guards with a smile and a look of awe of the majesty of the city. "it would seem to be a false sense of security." Gallo continued to think to himself before he approached a guard who seemed to be there to help direct travelers.

He waited as she spoke and directed people before him and approached her with a smile. "Hello," the young man seemed to be excited, "I've just arrived and unfamiliar with this city. I was wondering if you could direct me to the nearest place of rest and possibly get some food?"

The knight sighed a little, "welcome to Syliras. I can suggest to you the Rearing Stallion Tavern for some food and ale. Right now, there is only one place to take up lodging now, The White Swan Inn."

"Oh? Were their more options before?" Gallo asked curiously as he looked at the stone walls and tight alleys laid out ahead of him.

"Yes, there was the Golden Dragon. It was destroyed during a storm, not that you'd be able to stay there boy." The knight responded dismissively. "But if you need a room, I'd suggest cleaning up a bit before going to the White Swan."

Gallo looked at his garb, "what is wrong with what I wear right now?"

"You smell horrible and look like you haven't had a proper bath in weeks. A vagabond and no one of importance." Gallo crooked his brow and stifled a retort.

"Which way should I take in order to get to the White Swan?" Gallo asked as he wanted to end the conversation quickly.

The knight waved a hand in a general direction and swiftly returned to a conversations with another knight. Gallo only stared for a moment before he turned around and started to head off in the general direction.

"I'm going to kill you one day," he thought in anger to himself. It was mostly out of playful vengeance with an undertone of seriousness.

Gallo began to make his way toward his destination but stopped off along the way to observe Sylirian life. Unconsciously he began to compare and contrast his home land to Syliras, so far, even without bias home seemed much more pleasant than this city.

oocHello folks, would love to rp with people either at the Swan or later on in the thread at the Rearing Stallion. If your PC was around during the djed storm, that would be of some benefit to me. Basically, this is a socialization thread that is extended over two days in game time.

Knocking On Syliras' Door

Postby Sina Vestia on October 24th, 2012, 12:27 am

It was Sina's second day in Syliras, he had stayed the night at The White Swan Inn and gathered supplies for the coming journey into the wilderness. It was an interesting city, the citizens were for the most part civilized folks and the guards seemed to be able to keep law and order, even if they were obnoxious half the time.

It was getting to be noon and he still hadn't left the town much to his disappointment, he had hoped to be a mile away from civilization by now, seeing as he doesn't do to well in crowds. He observed everything as he made his way to the gate.

What he didn't see as he quickened his pace towards quiet was a kid who couldn't have been anymore than a teen standing just around the corner he was coming around.

BAM! Sina collides right into the kid.

((Hey, I think I did pretty well. I am still getting a hang of the RPing since I am rather new to the process. Sorry for shortness or any errors, I am still learning ))

Gallo paused a moment before he continued on in his journey. Impulsively, he checked his bag once more, "hmm, journal, some scrolls, money, personal items, wait where is my ink and quill?" Gallo shuffled through his bag, "I remember putting it in here before I left."

Gallo had stopped out of the way of the normal flow of traffic, however the side he had chosen would of possibly been considered the fast lane to others. "Aha! Found it!" Gallo pulled out the ink well and inspected and hurriedly inspected it for leaks. As his hand traveled toward his bag, the ink was knocked from his hands along with the rest of his body's balance as someone ran into him. The ink splattered onto the stone as it made contact with the firm stone. Gallo's hands, padded by the cloth bandage that covered his palms, landed behind him to stabilize his own fall as he looked up at the stranger.

He study the man for a bit as he analyzed whether or not he was in trouble or if it was nothing but an accident. Satisfied, he came to a conclusion, "Hello to you too." He grumbled as he looked around for his fallen items.

He collected the scrolls and journal that had fallen out of his bag and moved to grip the well of ink. The thick, void, of black puddled around the well and stretched like fingers as Gallo removed the container from the ink. He looked back up at the man while he pulled himself up, a bit of an annoyed smirk on his face. "I hope you weren't in a hurry," he said with a bit of sarcasm, "cause you owe me at least a trip where I may find more ink."

Gallo brushed himself off and waited for the man's reply.

Knocking On Syliras' Door

Postby Maeva on October 25th, 2012, 4:22 pm

The day had been a slow one for Maeva. She'd spent the previous night in her bat form, fluttering around Syliras with the owls, moths and other bats. It was the best way to see the different parts of the city, in one go. Without having to abide by the rules of the road and pathways, she could observe the city from the safe heights of rooftops. Being so small also meant she was rarely seen, and if she was - most people seemed a little disturbed by the Vampire bat staring intently back at them.

She had transformed back into her human self early that morning, just as day broke. After spending a couple of bells dozing, she had decided to see Syliras from the ground that day.

The sun was bright and low, and hurt her eyes as she trudged through the great crowds. She was a creature of the night, much like a bat itself, and thus she didn't tend to appreciate the sun gleaming straight into her eyes. Her mood was not improved when the gentleman in front of her was knocked over by another man. She quickly swerved, only to be splashed by the remnants of the stranger's inkpot that had fallen from his hands. A few dark splodges splashed onto her boots. "And you owe me a trip to where I can get these cleaned." She chimed in after the fallen man had stood up again.

Now she too, was watching the other gentleman who had knocked over the first.

Knocking On Syliras' Door

Postby Sina Vestia on October 25th, 2012, 6:49 pm

As Sina tumbled into the kid he noticed an inkwell go flying and narrowly dodged being sprayed by ink. Thank goodness, It would have have been a pain to wash out, though with the dried blood and mud on his cloak, probably no one would notice a little ink. Though a strange woman standing near them was not so lucky to dodge the splash of black mess.

Sina proceeds to stand up and realizes what he had done, though he hides it by glaring at the kid as if it was his fault. "You should be more careful where you stand, kid. Someone might step on you.". He turns to the woman "And you, You should b-." suddenly dazzled by her unnatural beauty, he stops mid sentence as if he were hit over the head.

Quickly regaining composure he says "I am sure there is a well near by that you could clean them in." He smiles to himself, congratulating him on catching himself before saying something he would regret later.

Knocking On Syliras' Door

Postby Clandestine Duplais on October 25th, 2012, 10:04 pm

Gallo crossed his arms as the man spoke blame on him. His temper flared, though he didn't show it not wanting to call to much attention to the rather small situation.

"And I'll be a thorn in whatever foot steps." He grumbled as he only glanced over to the woman whose clothing seemed to be soiled.

Gallo looked toward the man again, "Tsk, typical. Get a pretty woman in front of a guy and they'll bend to their every ways...Samara." Gallo sighed inwardly to himself then listened to the conversation that went on still.

Gallo grew bored with the two and decided to clear his throat to gain their attention. "Ahem, if both of your business has been completed," Gallo spoke firmly as if he was in a genuine hurry. "You," he nodded toward the man, "have business to finish with me. Do you know your way around this city or not? Perhaps if you accompany me this day, I'll treat you to some..."

"What in the world would a grown man...oh! Of course, no one could turn down a free brew." Gallo batted his back as he thought then turned back to the gentleman and woman.

"I'll treat you both to a round of drink on me. I don't drink the stuff, but I wouldn't mind company at the tavern." Gallo cracked a bit of a smile. "But you, whatever your name is." He nodded toward the gentleman, "you owe her clean clothing." A sly grin, "you are a real gentleman right?" Gallo said as he began to walk into the city and toward his destination.

Even though he didn't know where he was going, he figured it would be a great opportunity to get the layout of the massive city for further information. Whether the other two would accompany him didn't bother the teen at all.

Knocking On Syliras' Door

Postby Maeva on October 26th, 2012, 12:05 pm

These two odd. Maeva summarised to herself when she watched the two men interact and talk. One of them - the one who had knocked over the other - appeared to have some sort of stutter that caused him to drop his sentences mid-flow. The other seemed to have the habit of muttering to himself.

She watched them both cautiously, trying to assess whether these two men posed some kind of threat to her. She decided not, and accepted the prospect of a free drink. She did not, however, appreciate the idea of cleaning her boots in a well.

"The tavern is close to here." She said eventually, nodding in the direction to the Rearing Stallion. She thought it odd that a man who spoke as if he was in a rush had time to share a drink or two with strangers. Especially when one had knocked him over just moments ago. "I should warn you that if you plan to buy drinks to every person who will knock into you, you'll be a poor man before nightfall."

"I'll treat you both to a round of drink on me. I don't drink the stuff, but I wouldn't mind company at the tavern." Is all Sina heard out of the last part of the conversation. His mind was wandering focusing on the pretty woman and of how to get out of this situation while keeping the majority of his money and dignity, though a good drink is really nice especially since he isn't the one paying, It would also give him more time to get to know this lady.

"The tavern is close to here." She said. Looking at the kid "Well, I suppose I am up for a drink. Since I am not buying, I might as well apologize for knocking you over." He glances over at the woman "and for ruining your clothes." He gives a slight grimace. "So, Where is this tavern at?" He says while scratching his beard.

Knocking On Syliras' Door

Postby Clandestine Duplais on November 3rd, 2012, 1:33 am

Gallo listened to the two passively as he continued to look around the area. He eyed the knights noting just how many of them were about. He noted the layout as each street seemed to connect to this area, which suggested to him that the gate was the main gate if not the only entrance or exit to the city.

He thought to himself while the others continued on talking, “odd, I wonder if I’m correct if they have any other exits from the city? I’ll have to make a note to ask someone about that later, the day is still very much so young. But still I wonder, what would the citizen’s of Syliras do if the gate was blocked off?”

Finished with his personal reflections he listened in to the conversation once more. “Hmm, these folks seem to be one tracked if not drunks.” He continued to think to himself before he began to walk away from them and toward one of the streets.

He paused and turned toward the two strangers, “my name is Mark by the way. I’ll have to warn, I don’t much care about your own,” he said in a friendly sarcastic way, “mostly because I’m terrible with names and don’t want to offend you when I call you Xavior when your name is Damian.” He stroked his chin for a moment as he stared at Maeva with a slight, crook in his grin.

“Does she think I’m an idiot?” Gallo thought to himself, “of course I would not buy everyone I bump into a drink…wait a minute.”

“You know my fair lady, wiser words have not been said before. If I were to buy everyone who has bumped into me a drink I’d be quite poor.” He smiled and chuckled before he gave a more serious, less than amused expression, “guess your drink will have to be bought on your own coin.”

Quickly Gallo turned around and continued to walk on his way. The other two he could care less if they followed. “Being lost in a city isn’t all that bad,” he thought, then looked at some of the shop signs, “lets me explore without being suspicious I’d suppose.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gallo moved through the city and past the hustle and bustle of the city. He gently ran his hands through fine fabric as he passed a place called An Elegant Weave. He heard the sound of a metal smith as they puffed the billow and banged the red hot metal into plate armor. Along the same sounds his gaze drifted to an unmarked building. Curiously he began to walk toward it before he glance back over to whatever company that may have been following.

He indicated that he was only going to be a moment before he slid into the doorway. It opened up into a warm room with all manner of weaponry on display. Gallo looked around at the various weapons palming and feeling each decorative knife and blade. The sound of water that ran in a fountain cut Gallo off guard. He didn’t expect a shop to actually have water that ran, in a fountain no less.
“I wonder if they have anything that is similar to my gauntlets? They seem to be in the way and isn’t always practical when I’m in public, makes my arms look abnormal. Not to mention you can’t hide the sound.” He continued to think as he rounded a corner and looked at the smaller items on display.

“There has to be something…oh now these look promising.” Gallo picked up a pair of leather gloves. The material proved to be quite stiff and strong as it didn’t seem to stretch under the weight of the five, curved, spiked, blades attached to them. “Hmm these look like cat claws…no bear claws.” He thought to himself before he slid on the leather, enforced by metal to hold the strong blades against the back of his knuckles.

“It looks like I could wear these either way, above my hand or under my palms. Could prove to be useful if I want to use both the gauntlets and these devices.” He looked around a bit as he checked to make sure no one was close by before he took up a fighting stance. He began to throw punches and slashes as if he wore his gauntlets. They were awkward and at one point the even pricked himself by one of the razor sharp tips on the underside of his wrist.

“A little awkward, doesn’t mean these can’t come in handy.” He rationalized before he decided, “I want these.”

A few chimes later and Gallo was three gold pieces lighter. The other half of the payment would come when the order was completed. A somewhat primitive weapon, it would take about two days for it to be ready. Gallo would surely pick it up at the end of his exploration. After a moment he returned to the sunlight and to the small group he was with.

“I apologize to keep you waiting, I’ve heard great things about the metal work here in Syliras. Wanted to buy a little souvenir.” He paused a moment before he looked to the sky and noted the position of the sun. It had began to descend toward the horizon and Gallo still hadn’t gained himself a room to stay in.

“The day is drawing closer to an end. I hope you don’t mind if I leave you both to find the Rearing Stallion by yourselves while I get a room.” Gallo scratched the back of his head with a yawn. “I could really uses a change of clothing and a bath before I go out. Lets say meet at the Rearing in two chimes of the bell okay?” Gallo didn’t wait before he was again off on his way.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Early evening, Rearing Stallion

Two chimes past and Gallo had found himself in front of the Rearing Stallion. He grumbled to himself that his housing had cost a little extra out of a bribe to stay at the Swan Inn. Never the less, he entered the tavern and began to search for the two others.
