This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]
David Arnim wakes in his bed after a good nights sleep. He sits up in his bed with a yawn and a long stretch before tossing his sheets aside and getting out of bed. Upon looking a frosted window he quickly discovers that he overslept again, but he doesn't dwell on it seeing how it still seems to be morning.
He gets dressed at his own pace not seeing any need to hurry at the moment. While getting dressed he can hear his stomach growl and starts to think of what to eat. Upon getting dressed he looks through what he has for food and picks something out before heading over to his table drowsy fashion.
David finishes eating his breakfast setting aside his utensil aside getting up knowing that he now has to finish up his morning routine with a shave. He had a five o,clock shadow and detested shaving seeing how sometimes he would cut him self with the razor which would annoyingly sting for a good portion of the day.
He is about to commence with the shaving when he hears a knock at his door. Immediately he puts down his razor and heads to answer the door and it's constant pounding. He unlocks the door and rubs his eyes when the door is opened. Before him stands a rather young looking Vantha woman probably around the age twenty. She is dressed warmly and has a rather large pack with a canvas visibly sticking out of her pack. She is most likely a friend of one of Davids customers who had heard about him while in conversation.
"Hello, I heard you are the one to go to for protection outside of the city. I wish to paint the landscape outside the city." she says in a nervous shy tone. "Well you have come to the right man, you will never find a better protector for hire in all of Avanthal." he says being a tad boastful wishing to sell him self."Good, how much for your service ?" she says asking about how much to pay him."The average pay for a mercenary of my caliber is three gold rimmed Mizas." he says to the young lady."Well, that sounds reasonable I suppose." she says agreeing on the price.
"I will meet with you at the main gate." he says to her. She nods turning around and trudging through the snow towards the eastern gates.David closes the door after she leaves and walks over to his chest.Opening the chest he pulls out his studded leather armor and slips it on before putting on his skull cap. He grabs his sword and shield feeling confident about the day ahead.
David leaves his home locking the door behind him and begins trudging through the snow towards the east gate. After walking through the city for a bit and saying hi to a few acquaintances along the way. He eventually makes it to one of the east gates where he spots the Vantha woman who had hired him.
David aproaches the woman who had been patiently waiting for him."You ready to go ?" he asks her and she replies with a quick nod. They both leave through the gate and head out into the tundra. They trudge through the snow all the while the woman looks for a decent spot to set up and begin painting. They occasionally exchange words while walking but nothing to very important.David keeps an eye out for any dangers such as bandits or wild animals but he hasn't seen anything yet.
Eventually after trudging through the tundra snow for awhile the woman looks around and nods."This looks like a good spot." she says with a smile. She begins setting up her equipment to start painting the tundra with the city in the distance. After setting up she gets out her paints and begins, David standing guard nearby.
He occasionally glances at her canvas while keeping and eye out, he didn't know much about art but so far her painting looked decent from what he could gather. After some time she finishes the painting and begins to pack up her equipment.
Just then not to far off a howl can be heard. David turns his head in the direction the howl came from and sees a wolf running towards them. The wolf foamed from the mouth looked sickly and skinny and was most certainly desperate. David quickly runs through the snow to put him self between the wolf and the Vantha woman, readying his sword and shield.
The wolf stops not to far away from him growling and snarling while the woman looked on terrified. David stood his ground constantly making sure he was between the wolf and the woman. The wolf having had enough the the stand off rushes at David who promptly bashes the wolf with his shield once it gets close enough stunning the desperate beast. David almost immediatly follows up by slashing the now dazed wolf with his sword. The now injured and bleeding wolf backs up but continues to growl and snarl. It lunges at David once more going for his legs. David responds to the wolfs attack by slashing at it's neck this time killing the beat the falls to the snow dead.
The Vantha woman quickly finishes packing up worried about what might come after them next. David feels rather proud of him self even thoug all he did was kill and mangy starved wolf. After the woman finishes packing up they head back to the city trudging through the snow.
Lore Protecting a Painter in the Tundra Negotiating a Job Fee

Notes: This was a nice thread. I really like the situation you set up for David, not many people who go the mercenary route think of those realistic things like protecting a painter who wants to work outdoors. I would have liked to see a little bit more detail in your description of battling wolf, I think it would have helped add to the dramatic element. And it will be necessary if you want more experience awarded in the future. Good job!
