[Aylasa Caves] A Good Day (Daelerria)

Season of Spring, Day 90, 513 AV

Jantys wasn't usually one to take walks in the woods. In fact, Jantys had only ventured out a few times in his life. As a Syliran Knight, he knew he'd have to learn how the world of trees and grass worked eventually, but he didn't have to like it. Thus, though the sun was shining, the air was clear with a slight breeze, and the birds chirped in the trees, Jantys was as moody as he ever was.

The middle-aged squire was showing some signs of his training taking hold; he had developed a more definite shape, almost like an actual human being, but there was a long way to go before he was anywhere near the physical ability of your average knight. Despite his improvements, he still found the walk tiring, especially in full kit, which he had insisted he bring along in case of attack.

He wasn't alone in the walking, though. He probably wouldn't have gone and done it without some kind of partner in mind; for one it would be boring (although Jantys didn't usually find a whole bunch of entertainment in other people), and for another, he wasn't about to start this particular part of his squire experience without the push of someone else.

Stopping for a moment, he pants a little heavily (trying to mask the sound behind his gauntlet so that his companion wouldn't notice) and turns back to her. "Do you know where, exactly, these caves are, or should we just stumble in the right direction until we die of exposure?" His tone had hints of sarcasm, grumbling ill will, and general world-weariness, but that was just his usual pessimism. He was actually rather enjoying the walk for once.

[Aylasa Caves] A Good Day (Daelerria)

Both feet were brought to a halt, exhaustion was the last thing she'd ever wanted her face to be drawn to but luckily, the man took a good timing on intervening the long walk's momentum. Grey eyes looked sharp as knives, peering over at a distant vicinity where she saw it. A clear visage of tall bulky trees encompassing a narrow passageway, where a pile of deadwood branches took themselves on the ground and lay dead worth an eternity. it measured a few walks from where she stood though the crooked path unevenly surfaced by various sized rocks turned out to be a slight problem judging from her small figure. But it was perfect, just what her grandfather had described in his tales, the somewhat-ancient caves where unknown entities linger. Even though she reached her young adult age, the thoughts about the entities alone still gave her chills, unbeknownst towards their being or whatever motives they possess. Eyes narrowed then blinked several times before jerking both of her hands to rub them, she still gave a negligible confirmation whether or not the wild was playing it's games with her but as the scene cleared it's image on her sights, satisfaction filled her face which brought a proud smile.

Larry then turned her head towards the man, glancing over her shoulders and met his eyes. For sure, He was a lot taller than her and a lot more experienced in terms of combat, though she shook the thought where she'll never be better than any man just because of her petite frame. She slipped her eyes away from him tilting her attention back to where she saw the cave's entrance, at least the trees proved to lead them to it. She raised her right hand, adjusting it accurately then pointed her index finger right through the air where it indicated it's sight. The warm gentle breeze bit her, sending strands of her hair sideways and eyes squinted from the dust which brought an invasion. "There!" She spoke, voice sounded monotone as to what she maintained to lessen her feminism. "See those tall trees over there? the way towards it seemed to be slightly messed up but I guess a few walks won't take long" She resumed her ramble, not seemingly waiting for the man to relax when it was a few walks ahead.

[Aylasa Caves] A Good Day (Daelerria)

Jantys stretches, cracking his back and his neck as he glances perfunctorily at the direction the girl was pointing in. "Yeah, sure, fine. Let's just get out of this petching heat." He begins lumbering after her, trying not to breathe too heavily, hoping to find a cool spot to rest in these vaunted caves before starting back.

He had no idea if the caves were in any way dangerous; if it was implied, he must have missed the social cues, like he missed so many things. If he had known the caves might be dangerous, he probably wouldn't have dared to walk there, especially considering how dangerous the outside could be, too.

He wasn't thinking any of that, of course. Merely tramping ahead and doing his very very best not to look at any parts of his companion's body that might be considered inappropriate, nor to think of doing any such thing (or more). It would not be a very good way to end the trip, her returning to Syliras with a bad opinion of her travel companion.

"All right. Why'd you want to go to the caves, again?" He wasn't sure if he had asked at all before, but he was asking now.

Larry breathed an exasperated sigh, halting before she could even begin on resuming her travel onward, towards the uneven terrain and then to the cave's entrance. Frankly, there actually was a limit of her on answering to such type of question, and practically, it wouldn't be more than one. Eyes brought to a close as she collected her patience, assuring herself that her abridged tolerance wouldn't drain up so soon. "You--...I mean, We'll know soon enough when we get there. Now, quit acting like a girl and get your feet moving" Her voice sounded a little harsh but she attempted to fill in some chumminess to it.

Eyes opened and the sun blinded her with it's vile rays as if she just woke up from a long slumber. It was mid-day, the sun shined at it's brightest while the heat gave them both a difficult time. It probably looked exhausting just from travelling with such weather condition but Larry had her hopes up just to obtain another achievement whether it'd be something satisfactory or just another typical everyday accomplishment.

Without scrimping a bit of time to wait over some troubled companion, she took some steps onward, bringing both of her feet to a march as the bright sun bashed over with it's blinding rays. She stumbled past the path before the uneven terrain, taking careful and deliberate steps on every stone she passes, trying not to falter over and receiving unwanted injuries. But just before she could even pick her pace up, she ceased for awhile assuming that her friend did some progress and continued to follow her. Head turned towards the man giving him a slightly egotistical look.

"C'mon!!!" she exclaimed, significantly raising her voice up.

Jantys ceased his attempts to not look at his travel companion to glare sullenly at her from the back of their little procession. "I'm going, all right? You try trampin' through the petchin' woods in full petching kit sometime, it really slows you down." Someone particularly clever might tell Jantys that he hadn't strictly needed to go all the way out there in his armor at all, but he probably would have grumbled at that too.

One area he excelled, however, was his smooth movement over terrain Larri had trouble with. Despite his armor, or perhaps because of it, he was able to crunch his boots into any terrain and plant himself like a tree, or else surprisingly nimbly placing his feet on the flattest surfaces available. He was by no means doing it well, as his muttered swearing attested, but when Larri turns back to admonish him again, he takes a few bigger steps and it soon right behind her.

"There really isn't any need to push. We'll get there when we get there. Try to contain yourself for ten seconds," Jantys reels out in his usual grumbling manner, following closer to her than before, keeping up as she weaved and messed around by walking as the crow flies.

"I apologize, I'm just a little bit boiled up with this heat" Larry said then continued to totter over the jagged path which led towards the cave entrance. Though a few walks would let them reach their destination in no time, going across through the jagged route appeared to be more of a challenge than what Larry had expected. True, that what her eyes saw matched the stories her grandfather had told her but the unwanted obstacle ahead absolutely did not exist from what she have heard. She still continued anyway, conquering one challenge after another became part of her everyday achievements, only it doesn't actually point out that she'll commit herself by risking everything with a strike of her actions. Besides, aside from her father, death also proved to be something she should avoid whereas, the word alone indicates the utter end of her journeys and strongly refusing it to embrace her so soon is a necessity for her to maintain.

After a few minutes of endlessly faltering over the steep and uneven rocky terrain, She finally laid her hands on the fibrous trunk of the tall bulky trees which she sighted recently. Panting from exhaustion, she didn't bother herself from looking behind and see what her friend's progress was. After recovering the lost air reservoir, She lifted her head up, gazing above the high branches, slowly swiveling her view to picture out each scenery of forest green leaves dancing in the midst of the wind's procession. All of them placed a mirthful smile upon her face, reminiscing the days when her grandfather was still alive and of herself, anticipating for the next tale he'll narrate. She felt warm, fragile and weak for a moment, knowing that her grandfather isn't around anymore, gravely missing him might lead her to a serious sickness just like how her mother ended up.

Larry turned her attention towards the narrow passageway just measuring a few inches before barging in the cave's entrance. She felt worried for a second, after estimating it's size for someone taller than herself. Green mossy heaps of driftwood girdled all around, some lay dead on the ground and some hanged above bridging the two large bundles of earth that enclosed both sides of the passageway, which seemed to give an inconsiderable amount of space for one to pass through, except for Larry that is, who can stoop over the small spaces with her height. "Heh, I hope you're not too tall or too fat to go over these things" She said assuming the man did caught up to her.

[Aylasa Caves] A Good Day (Daelerria)

Postby Jantys Vane on June 1st, 2013, 9:08 pm

Jantys was breathing quite heavily by the time Larri was at the top, and he was only about two thirds of the way through. Being heavier and more cautious than Larri, he took more thoughtful steps and tested them before putting his great weight down. By the time he had managed to get all the way to the top, he was panting, and he leans against a tree a moment, refreshing his breath. When he looks up, Larri had already darted away.

"Son of a bear petching-" He says this a bit loudly, the rest of the sentence dissolving into mumbled words of reprouch. He speaks up again as he walks towards the cave entrance, kicking at the small entrance unhappily. "Yeah, yeah, I can fit through the damn door. Thanks for waiting for me, by the way, real petching nice of you..." His last words trailing away under his breath, he begins pulling off his armor. Even if he could fit with the armor on, which was unlikely, it would quite likely scratch and dirty the armor, and it wasn't his; it was borrowed from the Knighthood. He had absolutely no money to pay for damages, so he would have to be careful.

Now down to his regular clothes (after a pretty lengthy bit of time), he bundles up the armor as best he can and carries it through the entranceway. After that, the was wasn't too hard, although Jantys' size and exhaustion certainly made it more difficult than it had to be. Squeezing through the last bit, careful not to bash his armor package anywhere, he finally enters with Larri. "Try not to get eaten by a bear or something," he states as he enters.
