Crona stretched, her back cracking a few times from sitting up so straight when she still wasn't used to it. She didn't know why she found such enjoyment in watching Lyrri's face change into a multitude of expressions. A voice in the back of her head told her it was because she only made maybe 3 different expressions and was a bit jealous, but she pushed it away, scoffing at the idea.

"I don't know how anyone can stand the Summers here! It's just dreadful!" The brunette exclaimed, whether is was to her or to herself she didn't know.

"Yeah, I really only stay for the winder and fall, I have to force myself not to burrow underground when Summer and Spring come around." And it was true, Crona seriously hated the heat, that was partly why her hair was cut so short. Well that, and this it was what her dad wanted, not that she didn't like it. "So what brought you to Syliras?"

"Petchin' Ivak...givin' me this petchin' mark. Gotta wear petchin' long sleeves in the petchin' Summer."

Daelyn ranted to himself as he made his way through the crowded streets of Syliras. Despite the blazing heat, the city was bustling. Summer had arrived. Laughter and conversation filled the air. If only it wasn't so petchin' hot.

He kept his hand on the hilt of his sword, trying to keep it out of the way of the crowd. He knew it could be a pain in the arse. When he'd first started wearing it, it always seemed to find its way between his legs and trip him up. Now it was like another limb.

He was headed for the tavern. It seemed like as good a place as any to spend the first day of Summer. Tomorrow he'd go out and try to find a job. Today though, he'd drink and enjoy the mood of the city. He found himself across the street, and made his way in.

He scanned the room for a moment before settling on a seat at the bar. There was a free seat next to a pair of women, next to the one who seemed to be trying to pass as a man. If Daelyn didn't know the nuances of the human body, he would've been fooled into thinking she was a lithe young man. He shrugged and made his way to the bar, hopping up on the stool.

He tapped a miza on the bar to get the barmaid's attention. He ordered an ale, and waited, foot bouncing, until it arrived. He took a long drink, letting the ice cold liquid coat the inside of his mouth and throat. He sat the mug down, and sighed contentedly.

"Gods but that's good. Have another ready for me in a moment love," he said to the barmaid. She rolled her eyes at him, thinking him a chauvinistic pig, and nodded. He hadn't meant anything by it, but he could see how it could've been misconstrued. He chuckled and took another drink.

"Bloody hot today eh?" He said, addressing the women next to him. No sense in not making conversation. At least that's what Selene would've said to him. She'd always chided him about not being social enough.

"So what brought you to Syliras?"

Lyrri grinned cheerfully. "Well, I'm something of a performer. And Syliras really is the biggest city in the world, so what better place to play? There are so many interesting faces here!"

This really was the place to begin, in her opinion. So many people, all so different... Nothing could compare! Sure, she wanted to see the world, but what wasn't there to do in a place like this?

"So, have you really never left Sylira?"

"Bloody hot today eh?"

Lyrri's head snapped over to see a newcomer behind Crona; another dose of violet surprise swam through her eyes before she nodded energetically. "That's a fact," she sighed, "Summer was ready for us!"He looked average enough; a sword hung by his waist and yet another mug sat before him. A scar hung above his left eye.

The bard grinned. Plenty of interesting faces!

While Crona was listening to Lyrri explain her reasoning of coming to Syliras, a man that stood at just about six feet made his way into the tavern, most likely escaping from the sun like everyone else in the Stallion. What caught her attention though, was that he was wearing a long sleeve shirt in what was possibly one of the hottest days of the year.
He walked over to the stool that was next to her own and sat down, tapping a coin on the table until the barmaid took his order and his money. She looked at Lyrri with a raised eyebrow "No, I haven't, I wanted to stay in the place where my dad lived." She answer while listening to the man as he made a comment to the woman behind the bar. She herself could act like that sometimes but it was all for fun and games, although, she couldn't tell if the man was joking or serious.

"Bloody Hot today eh?" the man asked in a sort of accent that Crona wasn't familiar with, but she sort of liked the sound. The blond turned to the man, taking in his angular jaw and the sword that hung by his side with a keen eye. She liked to know whether the people around her were armed, only to put herself at ease.

"Yes, I would say it is quite hot, But I would have to say your particular choice in clothes probably is a major piece to that puzzle."

Color-changing eyes. That was something you didn't see every day. He took another sip of ale. He'd seen stranger things. Gods but she seemed full of energy, bobbing her head quickly in agreement. Daelyn could barely move, and she was bouncing around like a petchin' puppy. He smiled at the thought. He liked puppies well enough.

"Must've been. Looks like we may not've been ready for it. Don't know how you're so chipper," he said, finishing his first ale and reaching for his second. He took a long pull and sat it down, wiping foam from his mouth with the back of his hand. The Summer heat had him feeling the slightest bit tipsy. That'd probably be good, as both girls were pretty, and normally he couldn't make a peep near pretty women.

"Love, if you knew the reason I wore these sleeves I imagine you'd gut me with the nearest blade," he said, chuckling fatalistically. You never knew how people would react upon finding out you worshiped Ivak. Sometimes it wasn't a big deal. Other times, you ended up running out of an inn in the middle of the night.

"Is there a reason not to be chipper?" Another tint of surprise touched her eyes as the man started on his second mug. She chuckled under her breath. That was quick, wasn't it?

Now that she had a moment to look at the man, she noted that he was very tall- even taller than Crona- with blue eyes and golden hair. Quite the conventional gentleman, really, but her attention was caught as her friend's was by the long sleeves in such sweltering heat. "Love, if you knew the reason I wore these sleeves I imagine you'd gut me with the nearest blade."

Well, that was especially interesting, wasn't it? Lyrri's gaze drifted to rest on the man's arms. Something told her this man wasn't so average as he appeared.

She looked at Crona again, as if to ask what she thought of the man, before returning to his face with her usual friendly smile. "Well, my name's Lyrri. And you are?"

"Love, if you knew the reason I wore these sleeves I imagine you'd gut me with the nearest blade." the man said as an answer to her statement. She looked at the length of his arms with interest but pushed it away. If he didn't want to share, he didn't have to. Crona lifted an eyebrow when Lyrri looked at her as if asking for her opinion of the man. She just shrugged. She had no reason to judge him, even if he was a bit strange.

Lyrri went ahead and introduced herself and Crona waited for his reaction before joining in. She held her hand out in a relaxed gesture that hid an unknown strength. Crona wasn't as weak as she looked, she may be thin but she was not a weakling.

"My names Crona, Nice to meet you...?" She carried off her sentence in a question, just as curious as Lyrri as to what the mans name may be. Whether it would be as odd as him. Her eyes roamed to his sword again, that was hanging neatly at his side "So you fight? How long have you been at it?" She was generally curious when it came to other strong people, seeing how she also wanted to become strong.

"Guess when you put it that way, there's no reason not to be chipper. May be hot, but at least we're alive to feel it," Daelyn said, taking a drink of ale. The metal tankard felt blessedly cool in his hand. He caught the look that the petite one shot the tall one. Questioning? Women did like to chat about menfolk, get each other's opinions and whatnot.

The tall one shrugged at his comment. Good. She didn't care. He liked when no one made a scene. Made his life easier. She seemed the type not to judge, and maybe not give a shyke about being judged while she was at it. Admirable qualities.

So, Lyrri and Crona. Pretty names.

"Daelyn. Daelyn Caliban, and the pleasure's mine. It's not every day I meet a pair of charming women who'll share an ale in the Summer heat."

He took a drink as Crona asked how long he'd been fighting. He thought about it for a moment, thought about the lives that had ended on the tip of his blade. He didn't regret it for a moment. He'd never killed anyone who didn't deserve it. At least, that's what he'd always told himself.

"Aye. I fight," he said, cracking a smile. "I've been doing it since I was a lad. Think my da started teaching me when I was around eight? Maybe a little later. How about the two of you? Am I in the presence of a pair of warrior maidens?"

The small curiosity of the man's clothes could rest; Lyrri was quickly distracted by her ale and the continuing conversation. These two were both quite the fighters, it seemed. The bard grinned; those types always had the best stories. The idea of adventure may have been the sole reason she had urged her father to teach her to shoot.

This day really was turning out to be more unique than she thought. She listened with interest as the young man- Daelyn Caliban, he called himself- spoke of his skill with a sword.

"How about the two of you? Am I in the presence of a pair of warrior maidens?"

"Not a pair," Lyrri replied with another swig and a grin. "I'm better with a flute than I am with a bow."

"Aye. I fight," Daelyn said with a friendly smile after introducing himself. He took a swig from his mug as she asked her question and she waited patiently for his answer.

"I've been doing it since I was a lad. Think my da started teaching me when I was around eight? Maybe a little later. How about the two of you? Am I in the presence of a pair of warrior maidens?"

Crona smiled at the way he worded it. Warrior maiden wasn't exactly something she ever called herself. Although, some would say she was. She turned to Lyrri as she replied to his question, curious as to what her answer would be.

"Not a pair." Lyrri replied with another gulp of ale and a smile. "I'm better with a flute than with a bow."

Crona soaked up the information she was learning about them. Part of her was astonished to think Lyrri didn't have a weapon that she relied on with her life. She turned to Daelyn, figuring it was her turn to answer. "Yes, I believe I started around the same age as you, eight or nine, with Tamo daggers that my father had given me. Now I can duel wield them, although I'm still learning."
