Shrine of Storms

"O' course, tis only fair since ya shared with me a part of yer life's story." He nodded appreciatively when Tallis thanked him for being open with it, a compliment to the guard's ears when heard. He listened intently to the details of a Stormwarden, and found himself lost in wonder once again at how they are connected to Zulrav and the wind. To be a Stormwarden sounded like a great and tremendous honor, almost like when Ricky became a part of the Wave Guard for the first time. Joining their ranks gave him a sense of meaning a purpose at the time, now even more since he had things he truly wanted to protect. Truly he felt exactly like he belonged there, and would always forever remain a defender of his home. A protector of his people, and a guardian to his friends and family.

Tallis seemed to step back a bit to demonstrate his ability, at first only a light breeze could be felt coming into the shrine, but then after a moment passed it finally happened. The breeze came to life and filled the whole shrine with it's presence, like a supernatural being all on its own the breeze circled him. Ricky's amazement became clearly present as he looked all around him, the smell of the sea mixed with candle smoke and incense was faint in the soft touch of the wind that surrounded him. When the breeze seemed to fade away Tallis also spoke of being cursed as well, the idea of facing the wrath of Zulrav intimidated him. Ricky truly has much more consideration for the God of Storms now more than ever.

"I'll be sure to praise him and his winds from now on." He assured Tallis with a chuckle, his newfound respect present in his eyes. Then Tallis revealed the mark to him, which he had to pull his shirt up in order to show, and there it was right on the shoulder. The mark of a Stormwarden in its full glory, the experience to see one raw in its invaluable form. Ricky could tell Tallis was more scholarly after all when he saw shape he was in from behind, but his focus was more directed onto the fascinating mark that looked like a hurricane. Though discriptively mistaken as a tattoo at first glance, the silver lines of the mark actually moved a bit with a life of their own. Indicating that this wasn't just some simple tattoo, that this really was a mark of a Stormwarden. "Laviku's beard..." He sighed in awe as he resisted the urge to touch it, the contact would likely surprise and maybe even creep Tallis out if he did. Ricky wanted to respect all possible boundaries, thus he gawked had long enough to remember the mark as it were imprinted in his mind.

"Okay, I've got a good look." He assured Tallis as he waited for him to pull back down his shirt. Ricky gave a wide smile and appreciative bow to him when Tallis would turn to face him. "This has been a remarkable experience for me lad, I can't even begin to express how grateful I am." He complimented with a satisfied appetite, his thirst for knowledge now began to reside as he processed everything he learned.

Shrine of Storms

Rushing to pull his shirt down, Tallis turned back to face Ricky.

“Honestly, the pleasure was all mine. You’re the first person I’ve ever taught, and I don’t think I could have asked for a better student. May Zulrav’s winds always find you in good health, Ricky.”

Tallis had been absolutely sincere with his remarks. He could tell that Ricky had been truly interested and it was obvious that he had taken everything to heart. Everything, from his awed remarks to his immense curiosity, showed a true appreciation for the God of Storms. Tallis was glad that he had approached the man and imparted his wisdom. Although Ricky might not have known it, Tallis had also had a remarkable experience. The events of that day had left Tallis humbled, and for that, he was eternally grateful.

“From what you’ve said, your father sounds like a good man and a good sailor too. He might still be out there, carried away by Laviku’s tides or Zulrav’s winds for some greater reason. I will pray that the God of Storms keeps him safe from the elements, wherever he may be.”

Ricky had also mentioned that he would praise Zulrav from now on. Perhaps their combined prayers would keep his father under Zulrav’s care. If Ricky ever lost hope that his father was out there, Tallis at least would continue to pray for him. Ricky’s life story had been a scary reminder of how fleeting and fragile human relationships could be. Here today and gone tomorrow. It was a strong reminder to appreciate the people around you and never take them for granted. It was a lesson Tallis would take to heart. Ricky wouldn’t be the only one maturing from that day’s experience.

Trusting that he was a man of his words, Tallis hoped that he would run into Ricky at the Storm Shrine once again.

“I have a feeling the winds will bring us together again, Ricky.”

Ricky found himself to be very pleased to have made a fine example of himself, the fact that his curiosity and desire to learn all he could had brought joy to another made him feel fullfilled. The way he and Tallis interacted definitely made things rememberable for the future that was to come, as Ricky found himself a bit attatched to this scholarly Stormwarden. Again he had found another who had been cut from a different cloth than he, and yet found himself able to easily get along with the man just fine. The first example being Hadrian who he hadn't seen in what would be described as ages now, Ricky found that really a persons background didn't really matter at all. What mattered more then anything was how the two would connect and bond, and eventually find themselves to be even more similiar despite the difference in backgrounds. Today Tallis proved a perfect example, where as some scholars aren't so enthused or excited when meeting another, he definitely proved his interest in Ricky just as the guard did him.

With the remark on how his dad may yet still be alive after all these years, Ricky could only find his smile to be a genuine one as he nodded in appreciation once more. Oddly enough Ricky could still believe his father to be alive out there somewhere, and maybe with Tallis' prayers to Zulrav he could be brought back home. It was an idea that became a wish, a hopeful wish that even in a world where reality may deem otherwise, Ricky would once more see his father again. "Thank ya kindly lad, yer prayers are humbly accepted!" He nodded to Tallis with a much enthused expression, his prayers now set in his mind as he pieced his two deities together.

"I wager we'll run into one another before ya know it. Zeltiva's big but there ain't much places to go to before we meet again. I look forward to it eagerly." He gave a friendly pat on Tallis' shoulder with a chuckle, his prayer now ready to be heard as well. "May Laviku's waters protect ya, and Zulrav's wind guide ya as well." He assured Tallis with a hearty smile, and with a wave goodbye he went on to tend to his tasks for the day.
