Day 40 of Spring, 513AV

It was an early morning on the Burning Lands of the Eyktol Desert. The moon sparsely visible and the sun just beginning to rise. In the southern part of the desert remains a small Benshira nomad camp with people moving around and preparing for they're day in the warm weather.

Carmara laying on her bed roll, was still asleep under her tent. Resting in only her undergarments with no need for warmth considering the weather. The people outside the tent were making alot of noise but Carmara was still left undisturbed.

A young girl enters her tent, dressed in a long tunic and shawl. "Falim Carmara!!!" she yells in the teenagers face in attempt to wake her. Carmara was shocked but too groggy to scold her 6 year old sister."Go away Masera" she says in an irritated tone as she turns over, closing her eyes. The girl gives Carmara an akward look and exits the tent.

Carmara's next visit was by her mother. She was a little overweight and dressed like a traditional Benshira. She stoops over the teenage girl and softly says "Carmara, it's time to get up." Carmara quickly turns over and says "yes mother, I"ll be ready in a chime" in an obedient tone of voice. Carmara knew her mother was soft-spoken like her self but wouldnt hesitate to discipline her children.

As her mother exits the tent, Carmara stands up and throws her arms through her tunic and tied the cord around it. She then lays the shawl over her head and dresses her face in a veil. Almost ready to go, Carmara puts her soft leather sandals on, buckling them tight for the day ahead of her.

Before leaving her tent Carmara says a prayer to Yahal, The only deity she follows and trusts over any being, no matter the circumstance. She then grabs a bowl of tea leaves and walks out of her tent noticing the sun coming just over the horizon.

Carmara walks through the warm sand towards a small fire surrounded by Benshira men and women who are eating roasted camel meat and dried bread. Carmara brews the leaves into a pot of boiling water over the fire. Everyone waits pateintly for they're serving tea as the teenage girl attempts to give everyone an equal serving. The tea was of very low quality but the others are still gracius.

Carmara sits between two of the men and is given a peice of camel meat. Carmara lifts her veil and eats quickly knowing that she has to get to work soon. Only a few chimes later, a Rapa that joined the camp just yesterday walks out of a near by tent to make an announcement.

"Everyone gather your things, we will be leaving in half a bell!" the Rapa announces. In high regard him, everyone gets up and begins to pack they're things with no complaints. Carmara re-enters her tent, starting by rolling up her bed roll, then continuing on to the rest of her belongs that she neatly places in her backpack.

She continues outside untying knots on her tent until Carmaras brother shows up. "Falim" he says with a friendly smile. Carmara then turns her head towards him in curiosity of who greeted her. "Falim to you as well Hasem, I havent seen you all morning" she happily says to her 19 year old brother as she gives her focus back to the task at hand. "Please, let me help you" Hasem says as he assists Carmara in dismantling the tent.

Finally with every thing packed, Carmara puts her food rations and tent on the side of her Eyktoli Desertbred. After waiting around for a few chimes the Rapa tried to get everyones attention and announced "We will be heading west, away from the sun!"

The nomads began treading in a straight line following the Rapa as well as the elders. Carmara walking along side her little sister, Masera while keeping a hand on her Eyktoli Desertbred and keeping silent. She is always quiet when traveling so she can spend the time to think.

Carmara stares at the ground deep in thought about the other day when she welcomed a rafka into camp. This specific rafka was a Dhani slaver and killed 2 of Carmaras people out of irritation of not being able to secure any of the nomads. Ofcourse no one blames the young Benshira for her ignorance of the more dangerous races, but she still carries the guilt on and regret on her shoulders.

She thought about this for hours before the sun had risen and made the sand scorching hot as the time was around 10 bells. Though the sky suddenly began to get dark on the path ahead which had confused Carmara until the Rapa made another announcement over the people. "There is a sandstorm ahead, its moving too fast to turn back! Everyone hold together and we can make it through!"

No one liked the idea of traveling through the sandstorm but they didn't have a choice. Carmara looked ahead seeing the front of the convoy of nomads being swallowed by the dark winds. She quickly put her arm around Maseratrying to hold her close.

"Carmara whats going on?" the little girl said in a freightend tone. Carmara looks down at her sister and replies "Nothings happening, just keep your eyes closed and keep walking forward ok?" she says in an attempt to keep Masera calm and safe. The 6 year old girl closes her eyes as they get close to the sandstorm.

As they walk into the sandy winds Carmara tightly closes her eyes as she puts her hand over her sisters face. She could hear Masera scream though muffled by the heavy sand carrying winds they but kept moving forward. Carmara hoping they are almost through it as she begins to walk faster while pulling her sister along.

Ofcourse they weren't even close as the winds picked up and Carmara began to lose her grip. Then she started losing balance and let go of Masera as she fell down. With a tight grip on a strap from one of the bags on the Eyktoli Desertbred and her arm over her eyes, Carmara could hear The winds increasingly get louder. Soon she started choking on sand that got under her veil and falls unconcious due to suffication.

Carmara wakes up laying on her stomach coughing sand out from her throat and regaining her breath. Now in the hot quiet desert, the sandstorm is gone. She sits up on her knees as a few pounds of sand falls off her back, looking around she doesnt see anything but desert and heatwaves. The benshirian notices vultures flying over her head before seeing her dead Eytoli Desertbred laying next to her.

Carmara removes her veil and begins spitting out more sand and attempts to brush it off her face and clothes then putting her veil over her face again. Carmara starts thinking about her family and friends in hopes that they survived and if so that they would be able to find her. Carmara knowing that she could die if she doesnt find shelter soon, she collects her things from the Desertbred and says another prayer to Yahal.

Now carrying even more gear, Carmara see's that her chances of survival have dropped. She looks into the sky to see which direction the sun is going in order to find which way is west, but since it was nearly mid day she couldnt tell. Now beggining to feel hopeless and confused Carmara chooses a random direction in hopes that it is west. This being the worst idea she has ever had, Carmara knew she was getting desperate.

Still covered in sand and getting too exhausted to continue after bells of walking, Carmara saw something that she believed to be a mirage. As she moved closer feeling as if she could die at any moment, Carmara can see it clearly now. She drops to her knees and her eyes get big as she stares at the miracle in front of her and says to herself "Its Yahebah"
