Just Another Day of Fall

15th bell, 4th Day of Fall

Sophia grabbed her bag as she fluttered across the room. "Dad, I'm going out okay? I'll be back as soon as night falls." She joyously mentioned to her snoring father as she hurries out of the Arvinta. Stepping out onto the wooden floor, she stopped, straightened her skirt and started to regain posture. "A Snowsong is obliged to show elegance and beauty." She remembered the set of words latched in her mind. She never wants to get comprehended, specifically when she is seen by an elder: slouching, running, or even yawning. Anything she do in an unpleasant manner, she receives proper punishment -- ranging from an hour of sermon to a 5-hour training extension. Sophia got the nerve to break rules, resulting in extensive, solitude hours of flute practice, in which she never did regret. Walking to the main hall, she sighed. Her saddle brown eyes tinted into a hue of deep green, "Its going to be one fine day." She smiled.

The moment she opened the door, chilly crisp air breathes onto her misty rose face, nothing unusual from an Avanthal atmosphere. "A cold Fall season, as always." She mumbled as she strolled towards the snowy city she resides in. Its hard to differentiate Fall from any other season in Avanthal. It snows all throughout the season. Climate never changes, well except in winter probably. But it always is cold.

Sophia wandered around the vicinity, greeting the certain people she met. Today was her day off-- a day away from flute mentors and elders teaching proper appearance and etiquette. Today is basically a day to do nothing. She actually cannot think of something to do. Yet up to no consent, she reached the Frozen Falls Market.

Just Another Day of Fall

Postby Sophia Snowsong on September 2nd, 2013, 10:58 am

16th bell, 1st week of fall

"Wait, wait. What am i doing here?" She pouted, narrowing her spring green eyes as she wondered for something to buy. "Well, since I'm here, i gotta look for something to buy. Perhaps a new diary!" She recalled her old tattered diary that she scribbled on ever since she was seven. It was severely dog-eared that most of the pages were ripped off from the backbone.

She started gazing over the stores: novelty items of intricate designs, varieties of vials with different colors, steel-forged weapons, barrels of ale, frozen ducks... She almost freaked out the instant she saw the snakes and toads. She never liked amphibians. Besides the texture, she never liked the way they look -- those lifeless, piercing eyes gives her the creeps.

After three dozen chimes, she finally found a bookstore, a rusty old stall which looks like it has been abandoned for a couple of seasons. "I guess this is a bookstore." She observed. "Oh well." With the sign saying 'Open', she headed in hoping for a frugal book to find.

"Clink. Clink" Odd as it sounds, the door's bell rang. The feint smell of paper book lingered the air, the dull light flickered in the room, the stockpiled dusty books exceedingly overcrowded the shelves. It was much like the library... in a horrible fashion. "This place badly needs a makeover." She thought. "I gotta go look for a book though." Sophia steps forward, making the wooden floor deliver a slight creaking sound.

"Who goes there touching my booty??" Sophia shrieked as she heard a pirate voice beneath the counter. "Oh! What ye' have here.. a coin bearer." The fat, bearded man grumpily walked toward Sophia. He walked around her, eyeing the costumer from a short distance. "And what brings ye' here? Little girl."

"I'm here to buy a book." Sophia replied in a steadfast voice. Though terribly frightened, she hesitantly asked: "And you are?" Sophia looked at the man. He was scary, in fact -- with him wearing an eye patch and an artificial wooden leg. "All he just lack is a parrot, and he's good to go." She thought as a small smile carved out of her face.

"Ye ol' man's the shop owner!! Blimey, who else might I be?" He declared and turned around, heading back to the counter. Sophia nearly burst out into laughter. It was an odd occurrence to see a pirate become a book salesman. "Just bugger me off once ye' have gold to give!" She heard the owner stated as he gave a low grunt. "Moving on, time to find a book." She aimlessly wandered around and found a gallery of blank books, all differ in sizes, color, texture, and design. Sophia's attention was lured onto a small hard bound book covered with fine rabbit pelt, not too small for writing nor too big for travels. She then grabbed an orange-colored quill and a bottle of black ink.

"Ahem." Sophia cleared her throat as she approached the counter. She observed the shop owner as he cautiously stood up from his quick nap. He took a glance at her, then at the merchandise she was holding. After a certain pause, he gave a notable grunt. "Those ye' holding's gonna cost four en half gold mizas. Take it or leave it." So not to cause commotion, she eagerly payed the said price and hastily walked out of the rusty stall.

Just Another Day of Fall

Postby Sophia Snowsong on September 4th, 2013, 3:52 am

The afternoon displayed a drab ambiance as the clouds sprinkled drops of snowflakes all over the city. Not wanting to be soaked nor be Jack Frost, she went inside a random store -- suddenly finding herself inside a Winterfall café.

"I'd like a couple slices of strawberry cake please." Sophia requested from the shop clerk with a gleamy delight on her face. It had almost been a year since she last ate one, ever since the birthdate of her mother. They always get along very well, eating cake whenever there came a celebration. She'd been more of a best friend than her mother, discussing private matters like teenagers, giggling and cackling especially when talking about crushes; expressing humor even after being reprimanded.

Her reminiscence abruptly ceased the moment she was addressed by the clerk: "Here are your cakes miss. Enjoy." holding out a little box containing two red pastries in it. She blithely paid with a couple mizas, cetain what to do next, and eagerly left the store.

Just Another Day of Fall

Postby Sophia Snowsong on September 5th, 2013, 11:37 am

17th bell, 1st week of fall

Sophia slowly paced the barren cemetery, recalling the day that she last went here: a sorrowful view, a ceremony for her dear beloved -- the funeral of her mother. She etched her path across the snow, dawdling, recalling most melancholic event of her life.

The last time she seen her alive was at the Arvinta, bedridden yet smiling, she even got the time to let out a story: a made-up tale of how a mother and her daughter became the best of friends, how she spent 16 years with her-- from nonsense chitchats to a sneak of a bath in the Hot Springs. "I will never forget my years with you, Sweetie." Her mother said in a deliberate solemn manner. "Now go make your own history." She then closed her eyes in a relentless slumber.

She made her way on a smooth slab of ice-- a gravestone engraved with the name of her mother, 'Clyseria Snowsong'. Sophia sat down, setting down the box of strawberry cakes near her lap. The winter blossoms are in time for the season, weeping petals from their frigid branches. With teary eyes, she articulated in a bittersweet manner, "Happy birthday mom! I miss you."
"Don't even try to eat me. I'm Full of sugar."

Sophia Snowsong :
Lores:
♫ Wandering to Frozen Falls With Nothing to Do

Other
    ♫ Inventory: +1 Blank Book
    ♫ Ledger: - 6 gms, 5 cms for items

Notes
This was a sweet thread, and Sophia is such a cute character to read.

I will just note that Snowsong as a Hold will not punish the children, especially at Sophia's age, and it is her parents' discretion if she deserves punishment. Also, I would recommend getting a heavier jacket than Sophia has currently. Keep in mind as well, amphibians, unless local to Avanthal, would be hard pressed to live in its weather, so I doubt you would find any in Frozen Falls for sale. Also, with the Falls, it only has booths and stalls set up - which cannot be walked into, as they are simple make-shift places for traders to display what they're selling. This brings up the issue of the book-booth as well, since to have a trading booth in a snowy city is guaranteed to ruin the books. Books are not easy to find either, and quite expensive, thus I doubt anyone would have the resources to have just stacks of books.
In terms of historical context also, I would like you to watch for when you are referring to things of Earth and not Mizahar. Even the connotation that pirates need a parrot and wooden leg, and such, comes from Earth, and not within Mizahar. Also 'Jack Frost' does not come from Mizahar history either, so he doesn't exist within Mizahar's world. Morwen, actually, is who brings Winter!
Lastly, we do not have a Winterfall Cafe, and because of that, I didn't give any lores or deduct any mizas for the last portion of this thread. Please do not make up locations that are not on our list, though you are welcome to make a Winterfall Cafe if you so choose!
The price I gave was taking into account the rabbit fur it was bound in, which would be uncommon and not easy to make.

The Player's Guide is a valuable resource for the PCs here, along with our Lore Page.
