[Infirmary] Wearing the mask of strength (Iosha)

The teen lowered her gaze now, her brow furrowed in consternation as Iosha spoke. The Konti was right, really, about some but not all of what was said. With her eyes downcast, Vira sought to remember the Flats and their clamming trip. It had been so much fun and had been the stepping stone into the comfortable relationship she shared with him. But, the young woman knew and had now admitted her fears and wariness at pushing things. He was practically the only thing keeping her rooted right now! The weight of depression had begun to grow stronger each day, but each morning the Chiet put on her mask to keep everyone, oftentimes herself from seeing what was really going on. However, Iosha had truly hit the nail on the head.

She colored some when the other brushed over if they'd slept together or not, to which the woman adamantly denied. "No, ma'am. I couldn't; it would be inappropriate and I don't want word to get out like that about me. Or him." One hand rose to brush her hair likewise back behind an ear, the light strands curling against her face previously.

The truth was, Kovac had found something special in her, but Vira still couldn't see it. The probability that it was because of her self-degradation currently was high. She had to get out of this funk, find something that helped her overcome this constant pain and the awful nightmares that filled her sleep. When the Konti suggested in that metaphorical way that she was the one who jumped, however, the Chiet frowned even more, looking up a little at the snowy haired other. "I jumped from the cliff...?" What did that even mean? It took her a long chime to understand it.

Perhaps the Konti was referring to her own struggle of self-worth in this society that saw fit in demeaning, demoralizing, and debunking the inept. And seeing Garren in the dream turning to another that appeared better than she symbolized her own want to be more appealing but her inability to convince them. She fell because she tried to force it instead of just being who she was...

Vira was about to ask if that was what she meant when something else Iosha had said finally sank in, drawing a look of suspicion to the younger womans features. "What do you mean by his outlook on love?" It had yet to be a subject the pair discussed, the relationship itself still very new. His perspective on relationships could be very different from her own and may cause problems in the long run. "I would rather what kinship we share grow in that sense. It's why I said I do not want to push him, healer. But what on Mizahar do you mean by his outlook on love?"

When Lavira gave her a confused expression when she asked about his out look on love. The konti bit her bottom lip knowing that she screwed up. She was expecting the Chiet to knew or heard a little bit about Kovac's notorious reputation of being a biggest libertine in Wind Reach; however, by the look on Lavira's face, Iosha knew that she couldn't turn back now after she let the cat out of the bag. Iosha crossed her arms, looked at her patient in the eyes, and asked softly,
“Honestly, I might not understand his outlook on love vary well myself because I am an outsider. However, being a konti, I do understand a little of it too. Anyways, I'll stop rambling...” Iosha took a deep breath and said plainly, “Kovac told me that he doesn't believe in being in love with one person. He, like many Inarta, believe that love, intimacy, and sex shouldn't be just for one person.” As Iosha tried to explain the feather-brained man's logic to Lavira, the konti was getting more confused with every word. She started to fidget uncomfortably, but she knew the young woman needed to know if she was going to court her confusing but loveable friend. Iosha blew a stray hair from her face and said slightly annoyed now, “He started telling me about not putting all his eggs in one basket, and he believed someone in love with one person was infatuated and deceiving themselves.” Iosha shook her head angrily and muttered out loud, “Personally, I think his out look on love was full of shyke, but I am his...friend, so I have to respect his philosophy on love even if it was the most absurd feather-brained idea, I ever heard of!”

Iosha realized that she was making a complete fool of herself, and the young konti turned a bright shade of pink in embarrassment. After waiting a chime or two to regain her composure, Iosha said sadly, “When I listened to his story, Kovac has been hurt by many people that he cared about, so he wants to guard his heart from future heartbreak.” Iosha ran a hand through her hair and said with a weary smile, “I will not go into the details with you because Kovac should be the one to tell you his sad stories when he feels comfortable to tell you himself.” Looking off at the blank curtain, she wished didn't have to leave her friend behind, but she knew the Inarta wouldn't enjoy the path that she might have to take to get her daughter back. If she ever returned to Wind Reach in the future, she might not even be the same person when she first arrived in the city a year ago. Turning her attention back to Lavira, she said softly, “Take care of him, Lavira. He a good man, and he deserves to be happy...” Iosha knew she might have said to much, but Lavira did ask, so she wasn't going to lie to her. The konti was done treating her physical injuries, but she couldn't do much to treat her emotional and mental problem. All she could to fix them was to confront and talk about them to other people. Iosha opened the curtain and said simply, “Lavira your physical injuries will heal with time, but you need to not overextend yourself. Otherwise, you could permanently injure yourself. Your emotion and mental injuries will healer with time too, but you need to learn how to confront them and not let them control your life. Also if it becomes emotionally unbearable for you, you need to be talk to someone and be honest about your feelings. In time, you will be able to cope with the pain, but it will never really go away.”

Her bewilderment faded into something akin to disbelief at first that the Konti would tell her such things. That which she had described did not at all seem like Kovac to the teen, a palm wiping the tears from her eyes as her frown only increased in its stare at the other.

Eventually, she found her voice. "I know of the permiscuity of my brethren, Iosha. I am an Inartan too, remember? But..." She looked at her lap, searching for the words. "Kovac did not seem like that to me. I wouldn't say he loves me, but there's definitely something between us, I think...I guess." She trailed off when the healer picked up again and spoke of Kovac's past, things the chiet had yet to learn about her Avora friend. He was witty and charming to her, not some roguish mutt that slept around. She felt a little stung and insulted that the Konti was the one to reveal this to her after the man had already seen so much of herself.

How could she let so much slip out of her awareness so quickly? It troubled her deeply, even more when Iosha revealed that he had been hurt in the past. "Well so have I, so have lots in this world and this city. We hold our hearts in our hands and think little of the precariousness of it...Eh, you're definitely right in that you shouldn't be telling me this kind of stuff." And unfair; she felt a bias in that she did not want to believe Iosha, yet part of her knew it must be true. After what she went through though and the foulness of her dreams, what could she be sure of?

Vira cleared her throat and brushed her left hand through her hair, closing her eyes in frustration. It flavored her response to the healer when she tried to act as the therapist, giving advice to aid in the healing process of her wounded spirit and hellish dreams. "I have people to talk to." It was a lie. She had one person she could talk to, and he already knew the dream, had witnessed its severity first hand. The thought of confronting the experience was dreadfully unappealing to Vira and she did cringe inwardly, but she knew that it was inevitable. If she didn't...the dreams would never end.

Sliding off the cot, the Chiet stood. "Thank you for your time, Iosha. I hope you do come back to Wind Reach in the future, you're a very unusual woman, but...but I'm glad you were the one to rescue me." Her irritation and uncertainty could not be completely masked, but she wouldn't let it stop her from embracing the fair-skinned healer in a tight hug (though Vira notably avoided tension on her right side). "Fly high and keep in touch. Send a letter back next season on how things are going, hm? I dunno when they get there, but we trade with Lhavit often, remember?"

With thoughts of how she would talk to Kovac in the fore of her mind, Vira finally left the Infirmary, sparing a final glance back at the strange, scaled woman who had quite literally saved her life. For all of her dislike that she should tell her things about her love interest that were not her right to tell, Vira knew she would miss Iosha.
