Lavira Appearance Race: Inarta Caste: Endal (Summer 91, 513) Gender: Female Age: 18 Birthday: 52, Winter, 495. Birthplace: Inarta Appearance: A face long and hawk-like with eyes of green, ringed in gold accompanies the slender, light-hipped young woman. She stands at four foot and ten inches tall with the lilting stare intensity of a raptor, smoothly chiseled features suggesting that once she might have been quite the eye-catch to any young man. Her dense musculature emphasizes a woman of labor, the callouses on her fingers and right forearm suggesting an archer or falconer (and considering the common appearance of a raptor and bow, it would not be surprising). However, the sharp-edged attraction was countered by a fierce set of scarring. Lavira's right eye is filmed white, the pretty green-gold masked entirely and the pupil fixed and undilating. The scar runs up over the eyebrow and down jaggedly across the right cheek, only just touching the inside of her nose. Along her right side, a series of scars exist from a bad fall she took in the fall of 513. It runs from the side of her right breast down to her hip, and only patches of unscarred skin can be seen among it, adding to the unsavoryness of the injury. Lastly, a smaller scar is on the back of her left hand that looks a bit like a claw gouge. Her clothing is standard-wear of the Inarta, her Bryda a dark earthen brown. Her Vinati is reddish black; the top encloses her neck fully while leaving her shoulders bare as it wraps under the arms instead of over, tying in the back between her shoulder blades and keeping chest covered. The only other intricacy in the Vinati is the leather tie that hangs from the knot in the back, from which a beautiful white feather dangles, three plain glass beads secured upon its stem. When outdoors, her clothing is more plain: an atypical Katinu of mountain goat, white-furred on the inside, and a black-wool scarf wrapped around her neck. Beneath her clothing, Lavira bares an ugly scar kidney-level on her right side. When working, a black Sontav adorns her left hand where her albino harrier perches. He is a true albino with the colorless plumage and skin and slightly pink eyes within the partially domed face that gives the medium sized raptor a slightly owlish look. Tulaj (Too-lah), as he is called, is known for his aggressive tendencies with others in the aerie (even towards Lavira). Character Concept It is Lavira’s determination that shows best and the respect and skill she shows with birds of Wind Reach that reveal her greatest merits. The teen has struggled through many things to make it into the ranks of Endal, and even there continues to fight for the respect of the others in the caste. However, it is her kindness and vigilance against their own assumptions that brings her best qualities. She refuses to lower herself to their level by taking advantage of the other castes and it shows in the maternal way she treats the less fortunate, offering comfort and care where others would not. But the struggles were not always easy. When she had her accident in fall of 513, her orderly nature became a compulsive behavior and when stress becomes too great, the young woman will frequently work herself well beyond exhaustion to satisfy the mental urge. Her home with Kovac will be completely spotless by the time she is finished, but it commonly takes a different touch to calm her and break her from her too-focused way. Wind Reach Job Assignment Hunter: Year Round No longer working solely in the Aeries, Lavira has joined up with the Swift Falcons Flight to work as a Hunter for Wind Reach. Her eagle, Mohya, sees to the heavy lifting and grabbing of big game while Vira helps to track down choice meals.   Mohya A beautiful bird with a white head flecked in black. Her large gold eyes bare the burden of a deep sorrow, much like her Riders single orb does. The birds rusty feathered chest and gold-tinged joint feathers compliment the muddy black feathers that dominate the bird. The underside of Mohya's tail is striped with black patterns and her long-taloned legs are tinged yellow-white. Not nearly as temperamental as she used to be, the Wind Eagle has formed a deep bond with Lavira, both sharing a loss of themselves from great trauma. When Mohya lost her hatchlings during the Djed storm of 512, it was Lavira who spent the most time trying to console her and break her out of the barriers she had erected. It took Lavira's fall in Summer of 513 for the eagle to finally step out and see the common ground of the two. Vira was made for the sky, her heart always cast upwards to soar with the birds she so cared for. What was more, both shared a deep maternal bond, existing as nurturers in a realm full of independence. Volunteer workSpring- Nesting Attendant: Requirements: Caring for, cleaning, feeding and otherwise seeing to the needs of the nesting Wind Eagle. These future mothers can be ornery and otherwise illy dispositioned because of their state. Individuals must be of high intellect and with a firm understanding of Wind Eagles, their tempers, and with a strong affinity to Animal Husbandry and Birdkeeping. Other duties: Cleaning the nest, the nesting area, and the corridors adjacent. Preparing (and, if necessary, catching) the Wind Eagles food. Will be in charge of all nesting mothers at that time. Summer, Fall Winter- Attending hatchlings. Teaching them how to survive and thrive as they fledge and grow when the mother is performing her Endal duties or is otherwise incapacitated.

Lavira Character History It was clear, early in her youth, that Lavira excelled with the avians the Inarta so loved. She received her first bird at age 5 (a petite bluebird with ginger patterns just like her hair) and reared it until its death the way a mother would rear her children. By ten, she had already been given a fine young raven to teach. The prospect of her as a falconer was high. Such tenderness was a bit of a rarity, but did not seem to hinder the girl. By age 12, the lass was showing great potential as a possible, and probable, Endal. However, her more tender nature made associating with others more difficult; many of the other youth were more blunt than she, and some thought her gentility might be caused by inbreeding, not that it could be proven. One of the artisans had already begun to show preference to the girl and rumor of possible apprenticeship with them spread swiftly. But ill fortune intervened. It was two days before her fifteenth birthday and Lavira had already been offered two roles with the Avora as an apprentice. Her skill marks were high and it was clear that she would be of great use as an artisan. As evening meal approached and sunset touched the glaciers outside, one of the great eagles was returning to its aerie, not far from where the teenager was working out that periods Bendi. Lavira stopped to study the beautiful raptor as she often did with many of the birds in the city. It was one of the eagles, returning from testing its young wings in the thermals of the cave (a short flight, but no less impressive to observe given the size of the Wind Eagles). But the young raptor missed its landing and slid down the cliff face, towards the ledge Lavira was upon. There was not much room on the edge already and the best the lass could do was throw herself against the cliffwall and cover her face as the flailing bird continued to fall her way, clawing at the wall for purchase. The rest, as many would say, is history… Lavira awoke a few days after the event in a bed with one of the healers attending her. Her head was bandaged and many places across her body had been patched. When strong enough to talk again, the young woman asked of the eagle. It was fine, but Lavira was not. One of the Endal had found her still pressed against the rock face, semi-conscious, and a good many feathers scattered around her. She was told her head had taken the worst of the young eagles flailings, and likely would not recover as cleanly as the other patchwork wounds would. The healer was right, of course. As the Yavi mended, she was put back to work, doing what she could until the bandages could be removed. By choice or by force, Lavira cannot recall, she knows though that when the bandages were removed from her head at last, the green-gold left eye no longer shone the way its partner did. A milky film had encrusted it and a puffy, scab-covered scar lay around the socket. The youngling bird had gouged her in its fall and left her blind on the left side. But this would not deter Lavira like it might one destined for Dek status. She set her course as the scar healed to return to the aeries and find that fledgling that might take her to the sky instead. Until then, she would work, and work hard, proving herself of use to Wind Reach. This time of healing at least allowed the young woman to obtain her first true raptor, a young harrier named Tulaj; the opportunity to practice her skills as a falconer with this onery albino would make fine work while she waited (and hoped) for something more. And if the great eagles would not take her, then gods be damned if she’d not find her place with the Avora instead. Post Creation: See Thread List

Lavira Relationships   Pupils Syveris - Syveris was taken on as an off and on falconry pupil during Fall 513; she shows interest in learning more about the birds, but Vira wonders if she has the preparedness for the task. Aose - The Eywaat marked Yasi is intelligent and talented. Vira cannot deny the promise she sees in the young girls eyes. She only hopes that the nosy youth will mature with time.   Friends Iosha - While not extremely close, the Konti and Inarta are on friendly terms after Iosha saved Vira's life in the summer of 513 when a tremor frightened the eagles in the mountain, knocking Vira off a cliff. Iosha may be an Outsider in the realm, and a bit odd, but Vira does not dislike her. Marrin - Marrin was met early in fall of 513 during a staff training session with Greco. She has let him accompany her on a couple hunts and of the people in her life, Marrin has some of the highest amount of respect from Vira for his prompt actions later that same season when a man from the forges assaulted her. Azira - Azira and Vira hold each other at arms breadth most of the time, Vira still slightly miffed that the Avora mistook her for a Dek in fall of 513. However, she does not begrudge the woman her skills and will accept her company on hunts. Sira - A deep respect is held for the Wind Eagle Kelvic. When the teen was struggling late in summer of 513 to just make it day to day, Sira helped her find a way to focus through the pain, some. It helped a little, and for it Vira was grateful. Aidara - The quirky and goofy Endal lightens the mood immediately and a fast friendship was formed between the two when they went rock climbing one spring day. However, Vira has not seen Addy since late Summer of 513. Euthisa: An old lover of Kovac's, Vira met Isa in Fall of 513, and since then seeks to show her that there is no reason to feel hurt from what happened. Vira wants to include her into their odd little family and share what she has in Kovac.   Family Kovac - Beloved. Loved. Kovac holds Vira's heart in the palm of his hand. Since the accident in summer of 513, Kovac has proven the best source of comfort, compassion, and strength for the injured young woman. To say that Vira loves him would not be a stretch and it is well known the effect she has had on the oft snarky, sardonic mongrel. They have been living together since early fall 513 Alori Sai - Following a run in in the Market one day during early summer, Vira and Alori formed a fast friendship that was solidified into virtual sisterhood when they survived the noreaster that struck Northern Kalea in early fall of 513. Their bond is close enough that they consider each other family, ironically coincidental in that Mohya and Durveth (Alori's Wind Eagle) are broodmates.   Companions Tulaj - An albino harrier of some renown. The owl-faced bird has a tendency to disobey the expert falconer who keeps him, no matter the care and love she gives the bird. If ever there was a truly psychotic raptor out there, Tulaj is it. (Deceased; Fall 83, 513) Qeeta - A rescue of mid-season Fall 513 from a hunters trap in Thunder Bay, the 3 year old golden eagle is still tentative towards Vira. His caution around the humans and anxiety near the far larger and more territorial Wind Eagles is clear. While he is being cared for and not exercised, Vira keeps him in the eagle mew in her spare room.
