Jenni wasn’t a fan of parties. Sadly, since the Masquerade ball was coming up, and was being hosted by the three towers… it was practically mandatory for her to attend. Altelo and Nosumo had insisted, and she could have sworn that Crook was on their side too. The cat had been meowing at her during the entire debate, sitting at the two men’s feet looking imperious. He’d also insisted on coming with her ‘shopping’, and was now leading the way through the streets, tail standing straight up like a flag. The weather was sunny… and luckily not raining, like it had been the day before. There had been a few sprinklings that morning, but that was it. With the kind of quality dress she was planning on getting, it would be terrible if it was ruined. She considered how much money she was going to spend on this… and groaned. She’d be re-using this for sure, on the next fancy occasion. Sure, she had a nice dress… but nothing this nice.
There were no full-blown dress shops she could think of at the moment, so the Twilight was wandering through the markets, trying to spot somewhere that looked… decent. Considering the volume of people who were probably going to be attending the party, numerous tailors had taken an artistic licence to go a little… crazy with things. As in she could spot several fantastic, though a little over the top, dresses. Silk and lace, frills and diamonds… you name it, it was here. However… the morpher was looking for something a little more subdued. Calmer and possibly a tiny bit darker. Nothing caught her eye in particular, considering she had something quite specific in mind. Then…
There. In the doorway of a shop, she spotted something that looked a little more her style. It was floor-length, the skirts a faint greyish blue color that was one of Jenni’s favorites. It was thin, and light, and layered, and the fabric was soft looking and shiny… probably silk. The top had a modest, flat, neckline, leading to small sleeves that didn’t cover the shoulders. As a strip across the top, there were ruffles and frills, to add some kind of volume to the dress as a whole. Overall… it was positively perfect. Not out of her comfort zone, and not too crazy either.
Instantly, the Twilight made her way into the shop, causing a young woman to glance up from some sketches. “Hello!” she said brightly, straightening to greet the new customer. “Hello” the morpher replied, ducking her head slightly. “I was looking at one of your dresses… the one in the window…” She barely had to trail off as the store keeper nodded in understanding. “The Masquerade, might I guess? You’re a little close to the deadline, don’t you think?” The woman winked and swished off to pluck the dress from where it had been hanging by the window. She held it before Jenni, lips pursed in thought, before smiling once again. “Good choice! You’ll look quite nice in this. Would you like to try it on? We have a room in the back…” The Twilight nodded in agreement, took the offered dress, and headed into a small room behind the counter. Crook took a seat by the door, allowing himself to be petted by the pretty seamstress
