What was this cat doing now?

He couldn't help but wonder as the ocelot kitten shifted into a crouch befitting of a predator, something he'd might have noticed had he more experience with animals. Alas, his time in Syliras had left him bereft of such sustained interaction and so he was taken quite by surprise when Kalina seized the shirt in his hand, quite ignoring his offer to bestow affections upon it.

Before he could react quick enough to scoop up the kitten, it had already taken off with the shirt in tow, drawing an unrestrained cry of desperation from Adrian as he scrambled to his feet after the mischievous cat. That garment was key in determining what sort of audience he would receive when he returned to the estate, and he was loathe to find out what would happen to him if he returned without it. So after the cat he went, more than a bit frustrated with the ridiculous turn the day had taken as he managed his way through people who couldn't get out of his way fast enough in Adrian's opinion, while all the time keeping an eye out for the kitten.

Thankfully, the cat did not go very far, seemingly content to play with the shirt while keeping a wary eye out for him, which had it already having noticed him before Adrian realized it was there, he noted when he found the kitten watching him while still very much entertained with the garment. He didn't know whether to cringe or smile at Kalina's playful antics, more than a little apprehensive about any tears or punctures in the fabric.

Not wanting the kitten to run off again with the garment, Adrian decided to once more come into a crouch and try to coax the creature, holding out his right hand towards the cat, while keeping the pants part of the ensemble tucked tight against his chest with his other hand. It wouldn't do to have that garment stolen as well.

"Here, here now, why don't you come over here with the shirt... I'll find you some more treats.." Adrian cooed at the creature, fully not expecting it to understand him in the slightest. It was mostly for his own sake, to assuage his growing anxiety as he inched his way towards the feline, wary that it might make another go at running away from him.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Postby Kalina on August 8th, 2013, 9:36 pm

The Kelvic kitten's mossy green eyes light up; he was going to play with her and she was ecstatic at the prospect. From being bored and alone in Marcus' apartment, to heading out to the canal just below and experimenting with the water, to this! And to think, she had planned on being a good little girl and remaining inside today. At least this time she knew where she was, and she was still standing directly outside the door that would lead her up to where she lived.

That was an escape route! And a much, much better option than the canal an. On the other side of the walkway. After dipping her hand in, Kalina still was not all that sure about the water, and didn't really think that winning this game was worth braving it just yet... But Kalina also knew that it would be cheating to enter her apartment complex, having learned the hard way that not everyone had access to every building in the city.

All the while, her eyes remain, unblinking, on her challenger opposite her. He had crouched once more, extending his hand and calling to her. It was a trick, she knew it. He was trying to distract her so her prey could get away! She glances down to watch the creature between her legs. the wind picks up a little, rushing down the canals and blowing past the ocelot, and her victim. It moves! Instantly, she drops her head and her jaw envelops the material once again. She bites down, hard, and shakes her head once again, in order to make sure that her victims really was dead dropping it's limp form to the ground once more, Kalina stares at it, checking for signs of life. This time she really was sure that it was dead.

Confused, she raises her head to look over to the man, who was inching closer and closer to her. No, no; Kalina was not stupid, she knew what his tactic was. A growl escapes her, and she bares her teeth slightly, but soon stops, when she realises that the man has a horrified expression on his face. Se cocks her head to the left, trying to decipher the expression; it wasn't one that she really understood, especially in this context. Had he wanted to kill the beast at her feet? Deciding that must be the case, she picking it back up in her jaw and pads over to the man. Dropping it at his feet, her keen eyes spot a few puncture holes: wounds in her prey. Cautiously, she reaches down once again to nudge it with her nose. Maybe the creature would move again and then the man could kill it too?

Adrian flinched as the feline bit and shook the fabric, every puncture making him increasingly tense for what was to come upon his return of this very garment, if he was to get it back from this beast at all for that matter. What punishments after all awaited him for returning with the clothing in such a state after all? Up until then he'd managed to not yet offend his masters, but he hadn't done much to gain their gratitude either which made it all the worse. There would be little leniency to be found upon his return he fully expected.

An unsettling show of aggression from the cat was quick to make him forget of such matters, if only briefly, and before he could even register the movement, he was few paces farther back from where he'd been crouching, though he didn't dare to move any farther for he still very much needed the garment at the kitten's feet.

He started to try and calm the feline when unexpectedly it started to move towards him, in a much more approachable manner to his relief. Still he couldn't help but to be cautious too as he reached out pick up the garment, wary if this beast might try and take it again, or worse, attack him.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Postby Kalina on August 20th, 2013, 12:26 pm

The first thought to cross the Kelvic's mind was that the man was incredibly old. He didnt look it in the slightest, but he was moving at a ridiculously slow pace, one that she could only match in her memories of some of the inhabitants of the Kelvic Research Institute, the ones who were old... the ones Kalina would only see a few more times before they were disappeared from their cages. Maybe human age appeared a little different to animal ones? Or maybe... maybe he wasn't even human!

She yips in excitement, her tail flicking lightly as she takes another step closer, though she growls when the piece of material moves but the man does nothing to kill it. Silly. Now the creature had a chance to kill the man! Her growl becomes deeper, emanating from the back of her throat as her pupils dilate, preparing herself for another battle.

But, all of a sudden, the creature stops moving, and Kalina notices the man's expression once more. Something in his eyes made the predator in her fall away to leave nothing but the kitten behind. She whines and pads forward, towards the man, her ears flattened down against the back of her head. She stops when she is close enough to nuzzle him. But instead of doing that she raises a front let and paws at his knee. Her thoughts were consumed with keeping the man safe from the creature he seemed to want to protect, as well as finding out whether he would be a good playmate or not. Apparently, at the way he reacted to her 'borrowing' the material, he wasn't going to make a very good one...

A guttural sound, a mix between a whine and a growl, leaves the ocelot kitten, a depressing sound to match the depressing feeling currently shrouding the little Kelvic. She hadn't come outside in search of a playmate (unless you counted the fish she had been so intent on). But she had found one anyway, and the hope and excitement she had felt in that moment only made her realisation that he wasn't going to play with her even worse.

Another growl escapes the lithe feline just as took off his pack, and gripping the fabric tighter, Adrian braces himself for another tug of war with the kitten. He was hardly in a position to snatch it out of the creatures reach, but at least he could try and manage to keep a hold of it when the cat eventually made a grab for it. To his surprise, she doesn't decide to bound after the cloth, instead favoring a calmer approach. What triggered the change?

Not one to question his luck, he quickly stuffs his pack with the garments, before regarding the ever curious cat, whom was now plaintively expressing some notion that was beyond his comprehension. For all he knew that could mean it was hungry, or it wanted the garment back for some unfathomable reason. Perhaps it just wanted to be petted he speculated, and reaching out, he moved to scratch the kitten behind its ears while he idly mused on the interesting turn this day had taken.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

The man was not happy, and he definitely was not impressed by Kalina's antics. Her head remains cocked to the side as she sits, and then drops down to the ground, mewling lightly. But he wasn't paying attention to her, clearly far more interested in the thing that she had tried so hard to kill. It was a curious thing to watch, and the little ocelot watches the man's expression, trying to decipher the emotions flying across it. One of the most obvious was concern, an emotion that Kalina had not seen much of in her three seasons of existence, especially since she had left the Kelvic Research Institute. Now, since being in Ravok, she had never really encountered a situation where the emotion was required, she had certainly never had that expression, and had no idea what the emotion that brought it about felt like.

She wonders what is so important about the garment that it her playing with it had elicited such a reaction from the man. And then it clicks: maybe she had damaged it in some way. The ocelot's stomach drops and she mewls again, much more vocally this time.

But then the man stuffs the material away, with another piece, and he doesn't do so carefully, so the idea that she had ruined is slips from her mind instantly. The unlikely pair of servile creatures stare at each other for a moment, chatoyant eyes meet human. And then he reaches out. As a gut reaction to the events for their meeting so far, Kalina drops her head lower, bracing herself for the impact of a swat. But it never comes. Instead, gentle fingers meet the back of her neck, just behind her ears.

And it was all she needed, all she wanted, to receive attention.
Yes, yes, yes... yes, YES, the sounds that reverberate from the kitten start loudly and suddenly, in time with her thoughts, which were now solely focused on his scratching. Finally! And she tilts and twists her head to allow him better access, subconsciously guiding his hand to the places she really wanted to feel his touch: the ears, her chin, the nape of her neck, Hell, anywhere really, the ocelot really wasn't picky. Eventually, Kalina rolls over to expose her white belly to the man, legs flailing in the air and she bats at his hand with her front right paw; a clear invitation for him to tickle her on her exposed fur. She mewls again.

OOCI'm so sorry, I honestly thought that I replied to this weeks ago! Clearly not..
I was wondering why I wasn't getting a response!

Kneading its soft fur with his fingers, he shifted closer to the cat having grown more comfortable with its' present. With the garment out of the way, he could focus once more on the adorable feline, whom surprisingly was possessed of a quite gentle nature, at least from what he had witness so far. He wasn't even sure why he had been so worried anymore. It seemed very intent on playing and little else, which was fine by him for he could certainly use a break from these duties that had been forced upon him.

With a shift of position that his eyes couldn't quite follow, suddenly the cat was on its' back exposing his belly to him, and his had quickly adjusted to scratch its belly. He almost stopped at the light strike of its' paw, but watching it's face he decided it was safe to go on, for it hadn't scratched him and it didn't look displeased. "Would you like a treat?" His mind revisiting earlier contemplations, and even though he didn't have anything on him, he certainly wanted to reward to feline. If only he could get it to follow him..

There was always trying to pick it up, but he certainly didn't feel comfortable enough doing that, even if it let him rub it's belly. Maybe it would just follow him if he started walking away, or perhaps it would come if he let the linen shirt hang slightly out of his pack. It was already ruined as far as his master would be concerned so what would be the risk in letting it flutter along behind him a little bit to attract the cat? Before he could even finish the thought, he was fishing the garment out of the sackcloth, pulling a sleeve out before shouldering the pack once more. "Follow me for a treat" He called out as he stood, and slowly started moving backwards back towards where he thought the Nintrozian Estate was. Looking at the creature, he really hoped it would follow.

Threads in Shreds (Kalina)

Postby Kalina on December 27th, 2013, 3:08 pm

The man's hands are a welcome added sensation to Kalina, who had just started to think that the man was upset with the little ocelot. The small creature can not, however, work out why the man might be upset with her; the ignorant female had done nothing but help the man, since they had met, if anything, she is the one who has the right to be upset, seeing as, less than a whole bell ago, the man had stood on her tail. Absently, as a reaction to the man's stroking, her tail flicks, clearly it is fine now. Long forgotten.

But the man stands up, and Kalina rolls over, whining gently, though definitely audibly; the young Kelvic was not impressed with the man moving away from her, and she was even less impressed with the loss of stroking. Whilst not in human form, the Kelvic is not able to voice her irritation. Instead, she announces that she is disgruntled with him through continued whining, interspersed with the occasional growl.

Moss green eyes follow the movements of the man as he goes to stand up. The two stare at each other for what feels like a number of chimes before the man begins to walk away from her. Another whine escapes the ocelot kitten as she turns around, craning her head to watch him. One paw hesitantly steps in front of the other, unsure as to what to do now.

Why? The little creature wonders internally, why is he leaving me? What did I do? The Kelvic caught the eye of many people in Ravok, but it was rare for Kalina to find someone in the water-based city who was kind to her. To top it off, her Mater was not around currently, and she knows that she will be bored the chime she is left alone.

But then she hears the word 'treat' from the man and, considering none of the danger of following a complete stranger away from her home, she mewls and bounds after the man,t ail flicking in excitement.

It took less time than he would've thought to get back to the Nitrozian Estate, which came as a relief, for as entertaining as the cloth might be, it doubtless would have held the cats' attention for long. He'd checked over his shoulder for the cat often on the brief walk, wondering all the while if the next time he looked back the cat would be gone. Rarely had he at all any sort of interaction with such a creature, so already this feline was beginning to grow on him.

Pausing before the entrance, he turned to face the feline. "Stay.." Adrian spoke a bit uncertainly before turning around and pushing into the building, hoping that the cat would not follow. He wasn't certain if they would like it too much if he brought an animal inside after all. Stealing into the kitchens, he snatched up some salted fish before looking for the cat. Whether it remained outside or followed him, he'd kneel where it was and offer up the fish, a soft smile starting to take shape on his features. Perhaps he'd ask the master for his own cat..

"Adrian, Master Nitrozian has asked for you to attend him as soon as you got back" Called out a woman behind him, and Adrian visibly stiffened in response. A shame.. he thought as he realized his time with the curious creature was at an end, and standing up he offer a small wave to the cat before turning around. Perhaps I'll run into it on the morrow.. he thought before following the woman away. Perhaps..

The End
