Starting a business & need advice

I'll start at the beginning: I saw Translucent's post about Kenash and it caught my attention. I immediately started a dynasty brat PC. However, this also means starting a business.

Here's my quandary: While I DO know I what kind of business I'd like to do, there's SO MUCH reading material! It took literally over an hour, and I read it, buuuut where do I start? There's tons of inventory listing and prices and people I'd need to have in there, location (Kenash I know,) a feasible 2 year plan on how to most efficiently pay back the 5K startup cost, and probably even more stuff I haven't discovered yet! :retard:

If anyone has started a business on here and wouldn't mind sharing some advice on where to start on this Herculean mountain of information, I'd really appreciate it!

I haven't started a business, but I would start from the logical bottom: What niche do you want your business to fill?

Now, take that idea and examine the other businesses that are in Kenash. If anything overlaps, change it, make yours unique. You need to make it so that people will come to you for what you do. This is what will help you to make money and be successful.

Now that you have your basic idea, address the market. Are people buying what you're selling? If not, figure out how to work yourself in, or change your strategy all together.

After you have this, the inventory, how to proceed, and your goals along a timeline will fall into place.

Also remember that when you submit your business sheet, they want details but don't get bogged down in details.

Which will it provide goods or services..or both

List the goods and/or services with the price (using hte Price list i can help you with this)

Also Gossamer is the Regional Storyteller, and she would have to approve your Business idea (since Kenash doesn't have a DS proper) so might poke her as well with your business idea. That way when you get your business plan approved your set

Thanks for the suggestions Edreina and Translucent! Someone pm'd me with advice as well and it got me thinking. 'The Askara Aviary' would be unique, functional and fun. All types of birds for farms, hunting, messaging, or just singing/pretty kinds of birds. I saw a livery for ponies and horses and a reptile place, but no other bird specialist. I'll need to check the wiki for what birds are here in Miza/Kenash, but it seems practical, yes?
