Spring 8th 514 AV, 9th Bell
Location: Outskirts of Zeltiva, Mathew's Bay coastline

It was another day started in the same process of training Ricky had pushed himself in, the warmth of Syna's kiss only dulled by the eversweet moisture of the sea that cooled the bay made his venture a relaxing one, it actually felt refreshing on his skin as he walked along the rugged coast to arrive at the spot he practiced shielding only several days ago. Believe it or not he actually found an amazing sight to await him as he not only found that spot, but the same transparent hue of a royal blue sheen somehow remained over the portion of the very same boulder he'd practiced on. Oi'll be damned! Dey can last a while den! But of course it hadn't been all that long since he was gone, but the fact his work lasted a few extra days meant that he certainly had gotte better.

Convinced that he was ready to give it another go, hopefully this time he would cover that whole side of the boulder as planned, Ricky rubbed his hands together and felt the rough cold surface of the rugged rock. The shield practically phased of course when he did so, as its intended purpose wasn't really meant to protect anything after all. But of course he could only wonder if they would be able to block anything, other than magic and any foreign Djed. He thought about the amount of work it would take this time, upon resuming practice, to fully finish covering his intended area. He felt rather confident that he could finish it today, yet still remained wary of the fact that he had quite a large portion left to cover.

So with an eager mind ready to start Ricky took a seat on the same cool rock just like before, and then closed his eyes as he began to ease into a more relaxed state of mind. He thought of his wife and his son and how happy, how complete, he was when he was with them. He smiled as his eyes remained shut, already in a bit of a peaceful place as he soaked in the environment around him. The sound of the waves, the feel of the breeze, and the smell of the sea all filled his senses as he took in deep breaths. Soon after he started to find the place of zen he needed to be in, and then found himself in touch with the passageways of Djed that channeled throughout his body. He felt alive. Whole. Deep within his interior he felt as though he were a vast ocean, calm and still as nothing dared to disturn his waters.

It was there. There he found himself in touch with his magic, the abilities he harnessed now awakened once again as he channeled his Djed from his core through his arms. Once he opened his eyes and focused on the unfinished project he had, he felt ready to get started on another round of shielding.before the rest of his day started.

Safety. Security. Sanctuary. The incantations he dwelled on within his mind to strengthen his focus, he need only but dwell on them and their meaning just before his work truly began. Safety. The freedom from an occurrence of risk, injury, danger or loss, the first thought to follow when it came to protecting someone around you. Security. The same exact thing that safety held, only that freedom was found in care, doubt, and anxiety. A secured individual could very well feel confident in their safety, for that was the second thing protection brought to the mind. Sanctuary. A sacred place found within walls be they literal or figurative, a word that held even stronger meaning in protection as its base was both safety and security. Together these three words made what many could describe as an indomitable fortress, and that was what Ricky hoped to find within his shields one day after much diligent practice.

With his mind solely filled with the deep thoughts of hopeful protection he found himself more in tune with his Djed, the its course channeled straight through both of his arms from the center of his astral body as he focused on the top middle edge of the shield he weaved several days earlier. After he’d successfully tapped and willed forth his Djed to channel out of his arms, he pushed for the same properties of protection he held onto before as a shimmer seemed to weave out from both of his hands. After a moment had passed his Djed pulsated outward and started its course in coating the surface of the rugged boulder, hands held in place as he focused more and more on making a sturdier foundation in his shield. He remembered from the previous lesson that time dedicated to a shield started to pay off, making it just a bit more thicker after it’d been weaved together by the fabrics of his Djed. Finally when the flow of Djed seemed to expand just beyond the outer reaches of his palms, to where he could see the royal blue sheen flow outward between his fingers, he started from the twelve o’clock position and sluggishly traveled outward toward the eleven and one positions. He didn’t hasten any time put into the travel as doing so would ruin the amount of effort put into building his foundation, and made small circular motions with his hands as he worked on the spread.

As he did this he noticed the slight euphoria he felt in weaving together these Djed fabrics, yet it wasn’t the same usual euphoria he’d felt when he nearly overgave with Reimancy. This sense was brought on by a feeling of serenity, a strong impulse of safety and security as he completely zoned out on the weaving of the fabrics. The surface of the boulder that had been shielded already rippled under his palms as he’d finally just passed the eleven and one o’clock positions, just now did the twelfth position seem to lessen in ripples and solidify into a hardened sheen to reflect a shield. Don’t stop now… keep me focus on makin’ a strong shield. This shield had to be able to withstand opposing forces, even if there was nothing to overpower it he still felt better with the idea. Finally the tenth and third positions were reached, his concentration still the same as he only picked up speed by a tenth of a tick.

He felt good. Positive and confident that nothing would stand in his way, that no amount of challenge would stop him from reaching his goal. Just like this shield his focus would remain indomitable too, that is until his challenge was completed and he finished weaving together the shield. Last time when he left off his shield covered a third of the boulder, and was in diameter only a few inches larger than his Wave Guard shield. Now of course it was about to be a little more than several since he was working with two hands, though the method would likely tire him out quicker in turn, it would also serve as an easier way to build upon the foundation of his skill in turn. The more Djed he practiced with the denser it would likely become in turn, or so was his theory based on the fact Volanaro sensed in the thickness of his Djed. When a leecher tells you that your Djed is thicker than the average normal person, it tends to make you wonder if you build up more Djed over time and even gain denser Djed in turn. It likely depended upon what Personal Magic was used really, Reimancy being the construct of elements through production of Res. He was about midway as his hands nearly reached the third and ninth position, still entranced in the process of weaving as he felt his Djed levels had hardly been exerted yet.

There was no rush, yet no need to stop now. He was doing so well compared to before, better than he anticipated this time. Mostly because he’d kept a steady pace, with but only another fraction of a tick improved in speed. His hands were near the eight and four positions of the circle and he breathed in and out steadily as he kept his weaving in motion, the shimmering liquid of his Djed flowed steadily onto the jagged surface of the rock and rested within the indentures of the face, and then molded together with the magic fabricated into the form of the shield woven in place. He’d started to feel a headache develop as he just now passed the fourth and eight positions, then neared the seventh and fifth with a concentration that seemed to slowly falter as it gradually grew obvious within his mind.

When the headaches came that was usually his first indication on the usage of Djed he demonstrated, which then would follow with hunger and/or thirst with a sense of weariness or exhaustion. Those signs weren’t present yet but he knew they wouldn’t be long, and he hated the idea of another piece of work unfinished. Thus he decided that once he would reach the sixth position of the mentally constructed clock in his mind that would be a good place to stop and examine his work for the day. Within a chime or two he finally stopped at that mark, focus released as the pulsation of Djed seemed to cut off immediately after he’d successfully covered the whole outer reaches of his previous shield. It was certainly better, but only with a slight improvement in this case. His shield was still a bit thin but the time devoted to it helped improved that issue, whereas before they were thin as parchment they now looked to have gain a few centimeters in thickness.

On the plus side he still felt he’d some small reserves of Djed left within him, but nowhere near enough to put in another effort. Maybe dat’s an indication dat Oi’m gittin’ better. He assumed with a small accomplished smile on his sweaty face, he didn’t realize that he’d worked up a sweat until after he’d taken a step back from his work. He could only hope that this was leading him somewhere, all this training had to somehow help him improve his Shielding abilities, and maybe even unlock some sort of hidden potential within them that he could later on use. Guess Oi better ‘ead back f’r now, an’ come back in a day ‘r two an’ resume practice. He thoughtfully considered the amount of time he might need between practices, and then found himself in need of food and even a little drink too. The more he trained and improved his reserves of stamina and Djed, the better he would be in such short time. For now though his main focus was to return to the streets of Zeltiva while keeping the act of practice secret, for he did after all hate the idea that those around him would notice. Keeping the fact that he knew magic secret wasn’t hard at all, considering he’d done it for over a year now, but it was sure enough a challenge to try and make sure he practiced in secret.
