Cornered

He then raised his clenched blade, causing a unified and unsettled jump from his companions as he left a jagged and deep gash running from the centre of Hound's nose to the very bone of his jaw. Blood pulsed and poured from the man's cheek, in a steaming stream from cheek to neck, soaking outward into his mundane shirt. With an outraged scream he invoked the next name. "Viratas! I implore you, let every family wronged by this cruel man suffer not the beat of his heart longer than we must. Let ever drop of his hot blood spill on our doorsteps, and soak into our beaches as he would our children. Let those that have had their family chain's shattered by his hands know this transgression, and boil their blood to action with certainty and conviction. Bloody, and final."

A Time to Wait

"By nature, by love, by creed, by the will of gods the chains of blood are made.

The life of the body is in the blood, and it is the blood that binds the soul and flesh.

For by blood comes atonement and mercy.

It is blood that keeps a creature from the agony of solitude.

Isolation is lost in the offering and acceptance of blood's sacred chain.

Honor the chains you have begun and the kin who nourished you in your youth.

There is no connection without surety and no strength without dedication.

One who dishonors his ties makes his bed on the water.

I give this to you, my blood, Viratas.

I give to you my vitae so that you may be strengthened.

I give to you my lifesblood so that I might know the value of the chains that ever bind.

I give to you the blood of those yet to come, those in the now, and those that came before.

I give to you this gift that you once gave to me, that I might one day know my father.

As is the weight of my chains."

The Great Outdoors

”Dearest Viratas, Bearer of Chains, Father of Blood and Eldest of Ancestors, we call upon you now to bless our journey into the wilderness. We go in search of ties to our ancestors, a never ending quest to bring you honor. I hope in this act that we may make you proud to call us your children, as I strive to do each and every day. Be with us, now, as we go out into the world. Be within us, let your power run through our veins as we search for the oldest of our chains tied in the trees we once called home.” Quickly and with silent grace, Vetari produced a razor from his cloak, slicing along the tender underside of his left forearm. Clenching his jaw at the pain, he flexed his arm, causing blood to drip into the sacred pool. ”May this blood bring greater life.

Day 5, Season of Spring, 514

As the moon set, I knew that I should sleep. But I felt a religious moment coming."Oh Mighty Viratas, may you give my blood the strength I need to make it through tomorrow." And with that I went into my tent, and slowly began to sleep.
