Palla chuckled when Adney asked the sand to stay still. "I-I know, right? If the sand stayed still, though, sand castles wouldn't be as fun to make."
"I hope you don't leave." Palla said, trying to sound lighthearted. She really didn't want Adney to leave, for an inexplicable reason. "R-Riverfall is a beautiful city, and seeing your reaction to the park, I think you'd enjoy to stay."
"I mean no offense to Morwen, but your gift seems like it would be much more practical than mine, at least to most people. Y-You'll never have to go without water." Palla spoke after a moment of thought. "Of course, I'd rather have my gnosis any day, but that's because I love the arts. I-I appreciate when people even attempt to make art, because you'll never know if you don't try. Maybe you'll love the art in question."
"Laviku?" Palla said, sounding out the word in her mouth. She smiled. "I-It seems like we have more in common than you'd think. I come from what is essentially a winter wonderland, and the main goddess I worship is the goddess of winter. Y-You come from the sea, and you worship the god of the sea."
"What's it like? T-The sea, I mean. I've only traveled by land, and even then, only once. I-It was when I went from Avanthal to Riverfall. I loved Avanthal, but I doubt I'll ever go back. I feel free here." Palla sighed. "Y-You grew up on a boat? Could I see it?" Then "W-Who are your podmates? Maybe I've met them." Palla asked, not knowing how sensitive a subject this was for Adney, considering he smiled as he said it. Palla knew nothing of the wreck, of the devastation that had befallen Adney's pod. She didn't know that Adney was a survivor of a terrible shipwreck. Palla was oblivious to these facts.
If Adney seemed sad when he replied, Palla's eyes would turn a deep blue-teal. "I-I'm sorry." She would say quietly. She would hate to see Adney in pain, as she did anybody. Palla, while having a physically high pain tolerance, did not handle mental pain, be it hers or someone else's.
When Adney seemed to recover, or if he did not seem sad at all, Palla would ask "W-Would you like to learn? T-To carve, I mean. I-I'm not the greatest teacher, but I could try and teach you carving and Vani. If you'd like to keep making sand castles, I understand, but since we have nothing to make them with, it's kind of hard. " Palla looked at the sun, just starting to set. It would be a while still since darkness would fall over the city.
OOCAnother crappy post.
