Sh'Ky Naes

Summer 50, 514

Sh'Ky Naes hadn't taken a day off in ages, and he wasn't about to start working again till midmorning tomorrow. Taking a final swig of ale at the bar, (his second drink thus far,) he slammed the coin down and smiled at the bartender to the lovely establishment that is the Pig's Foot. "That, sir, was undisputedly the worst piss I've had in a long time! Expect me back soon!" With a friendly grunt, (as friendly as one could get in Sunberth, at least,) the bartender waved him off. Walking out the door, he headed into the streets leading past the Tent City and out of the 'Berth.

Humming quietly to himself, he was content, until he tripped over a pothole that was filled with water, landing in the dust, and getting his right boot wet. Spluttering, he said,
"Damn this petching shyke! Sonofabitch!" While he couldn't hold a conversation in Fratava, his vocabulary was still quite impressive.

Tara was not having the best day, not at all by far. First she was chased up a tree by a small pack of wolves. Sure, she could have token them all on but what was the point of wasting time, effort, and possibly gaining an injury. Once she got into the city she ran into two thugs, but instead of a knife in the back there were pleads for help. Well, more like a demand for it or threats.

Many Sunberthians could not afford medical treatment and when they did they would rather parish then become another victim of Doctor Petricious's experiments. Even the thought of working along side of him gave her shivers. After refusing to help them because of past hassles with them and even a scarp. His wound was not even that bad, a slash right along the jaw line from a knife of some sort. The blood was slowing at least he was smart enough to apply pressure on the wound.

Tara was good at holding grudges. She didn't turn down everyone that requested her aid but if they were doing or did something that made Sunberth an even more crime filled city. Making a small trip into town was a project. Light delicate brown curls poured softly out of sides of her hood. Tara normally didn't go to tavern's normally, other than to get strong liquors, for medical purposes of course.

There was a loud shout in another language Tara was unable to understand. Right then before she knew it, she was tripping over a man's boot. Falling forward she threw her hands out in front of her face and caught herself. Yet the fall gave the palms of her hands scrapes and little thin cuts barely cutting the skin. Annoyed, she turned over and glared at the man. An animalistic growl emerged from her throat,
"What the hell, are you stupid or something? People are trying to walk here!" She was being rather harsh, even she took notice of it.

"What the hell, are you stupid or something? People are trying to walk here!" Grumbling, he shook his boot and kicked the woman's leg from on top of it. Pushing up, he stood on his feet. "Mis,s I'm sorry, but I was clearly lying on th' ground righ' there. So if ye can' petching see, then you need some optics, or something." Dusting himself off, he frowned down at the woman, not offering her any help up. Well this was petching fan-tastic. First he trips and falls, then some lady blames him for it! Some day off this was.

Seriously, he only gave himself these twice a season, because that's what Rastia did. Twice a petching season. 'Ky was seriously pissed off. This day had better turn around, fast, or someone in the nearby vicinity would receive a boot to the face. Sh'Ky didn't give a damn that she was a woman, this was a special time to him.

What was to come next was expected but not wanted. Tara sometimes think that if she can say something rude or distasteful it wont be returned. Moving her leg she cursed under her breath. A little part in Tara was telling her to shift right here tare him apart. Taking in a deep breath she realized how ridiculous it was to engage in any fighting right now.

Taking her hood off, she revealed a gentle face, which didn't really match with how curly she spoke. One thing that did show any sign of intimidation was the slightly didn't branding on her face. Accusing green eyes glared at the stranger,
“Let me guess, you just decided,” Tara mimed his voice but much more annoyingly,"I think I'll lay right down here in the middle of the street, no worries."

Even though Tara had boot-like foot wraps, they did have little pads which gave her some support. This move was rather childish, Tara rolled her eyes and got up, making sure step on the man's boot. Which probably didn't even do much damage, but it left a gray scuff mark. In the end Tara would end up apologizing, she has quite the habit of doing things and regretting them later almost always.

“Let me guess, you just decided,” the woman, mimicking his voice like a child, said, "I think I'll lay right down here in the middle of the street, no worries." The woman took off her hood to look him in the eye, and looking into his ice-blue eyes, stepped deliberately on the toe of his boot, leaving a scuff mark. Raising his eyebrow, Sh'Ky irritably shook his head. "You really are acting like a child, you know. Now, apologize. I tripped. Deal with it, lady, shyke happens."

Sh'Ky realized that this might provoke the woman, so he casually put his hands on his hips, as if he disapproved. In reality, he was getting his hands closer to his weapon. He didn't want a conflict, and he'd try to end it quickly, but he had to defend himself. If anything happened, that is. However, the most likely outcome of this situation would be some scathing words and then a final parting shot, with a glare back at each other.

However, some people could surprise you. Maybe this could turn out for the best after all.

Tara lifted up her finger and opened her mouth to add something hot headed to say but then she glanced to her right. Slowly closing her mouth she recognized a familiar face. He was one of the men who brought an injured thug to her when she came into the city. Taking her finger back she almost completely abandoned her anger with the stranger. Tara quickly turned her head to check if there were any more faces that stuck out. Of course every Sunberthian stuck out and was dangerous.

There was one thing she did notice. On the side of the thug's throat was a thin tattoo that was most likely their gang symbol. That's when she saw the matching ink on two men. They seemed fairly built but there were stronger men. Tara hesitantly turned to the stranger who she was just having a argument with and tried to help him. Placing her hand on his chest she pushed lightly,
“Okay, okay look. I'm sure you have better things to do, right?” This doing was out of the kindness of her heart. While he did look as he could hold his ground she would fight her own battles rather than drag someone into them.

Tara herself would try and run from this either way. Backing up and getting ready to take off she was interrupted by one of the thugs, who begun to surround them. He pushed her forward and it seemed they had already formed a circle-like tactic. As Tara had a dispute with this man they waited for the perfect timing.

The woman looked like she had a retort on the tip of her tongue, when she drifted off at the sight of a familiar face. Or so Sh'Ky assumed, for the look of recognition on her face was brief and apprehensive. Seems that someone found her, when she didn't want to be found. “Okay, okay look. I'm sure you have better things to do, right?” The woman was obviously trying to get rid of Sh'Ky, but he stuck around a little longer to see if anything happened. He really didn't care what happened to the woman, but this was interesting.

As they formed a loose... circle? Could you even call it that, with only three people? Around the lady, Sh'Ky frowned. Now this was oddly... fortuitous for the thugs. They waited for the perfect chance to strike, while he argued with the woman. Gritting his teeth, he thought,
Tch! They used me as a distraction! Nobody uses me! Loosening his sword in his scabbard, he stood, feet shoulder-width apart, weight on the balls of his feet. Putting his hands on his hips, he waited to see how the woman would handle this, and if he would get the chance to pay these thugs back.

"We've had enough of the lip girl, just help us out or you'll have a hole in your chest.” There was an almost animal-like growl erupting from her throat. It was enough to set him aback him for a tick or two. The first man grabbed her arm. His grip was tight but Tara quickly pulled out of her boot a small eating knife. While this was nothing, it would at least give her a chance to intimidate them.

Snapping quickly Tara threatened the scum with her weapon. Instead of letting her go he jerked her arm.
"Just walk away, it wont be a long conversation."Spitting onto his shoe, the small group's leader was obviously not happy about her saliva. While the rest of his group ate it up. Furious, his grip grew a little harder and harder on her forearm. A man of decent size and strength did pack quite the punch as he There was a sly grin on his face, and that was all it took for Tara to really lash out.

It was happening all very quickly, almost like a blur. Her body was replaced with that of a tiger's. Sure, someone getting jumped in Sunberth was a natural occurrence, and over time a part of life. But when there is a two hundred pound tiger involved, people either choose to flock or flee. Tara's jaws clamped themselves onto her attacker's hip. He let out a blood curdling howl.

The more he tried to get from her, the harder her mouth pressed down. With enough pressure you'd be able to hear the bones under his skin crackle. This was both a gift and a curse. Tara took him down with ease. He pleaded for release and to his luck she let go. The taste of blood filled her mouth.

The two other weak members fled but there was one who stood his ground. He had a small dagger in hand, which if used right could inflect a decent amount of pain on Tara so she focused on making her point clear to her pursuer that this was just a warning. Shifting back into her human for with no effort, she straddled the man who was on the string of life and death. Taking a handful of his dirty shirt, she brought his face close to hers.

The blood trickled down her chin slowly,
"You won't be doing this anytime soon, right?" This was more of a rhetorical question. They both knew the answer was Yes.

Sh'Ky thought little of the woman up until that moment. A thin, unassuming blonde woman? Almost no one he knew in Sunberth would think she was dangerous. Until in a flash of swirling lights, and bam, a tiger was there, lean and lithe, dressed in the woman's clothes, hanging onto the man's jaw, crushing it within her fangs. A horrible, yet fascinating crackle came from the man's face. Wrenching around in agony, the thug that was threatening her was suddenly lying in the dusty street.

Sh'Ky had heard of Kelvics, and had even been around them on occasion. Still, this was highly unexpected, even shocking, for 'Ky. As he watched the situation deteriorate for the thugs, the one with the knife stayed, even after the two others ran away. Apparently, he was confident in his abilities, even if the lady was a two-hundred pound cat. Shifting back into her human form, she straddled the man and began threatening him. Eying her carefully, the knife-wielder edged forward, preparing to take her on from behind. Unsheathing his sword and holding it in one hand, pointed it at the thug, shaking his head as if to reprimand a naughty child. The man, his friend disabled, saw that his chances of winning this fight were slimmer and slimmer. So, like any rational cowardly survivalist, he turned and ran.

Sheathing his gleaming steel blade again, Sh'Ky held out his hand, as if to help the woman up. "Nice job, dealing with those thugs. I'm sorry, we didn't get off on the right foot." Now ignoring the man with the broken face, Sh'Ky's attention was on the woman. He felt it best to be polite, as she could rip his own face off. Besides, this was his day off. He could find it within himself to forgive her. Glancing downwards, looking the woman over, he noticed that her trousers were slightly ripped in places. Apparently, tigers weren't meant to wear pants.

Getting out her last curse at the man the Kelvic was able to turn her head around to see the man she had just had a quarrel with was now defending her. He would be in her thoughts for quite sometime, as anyone is after saving one's life.

In the heat of it all Tara had forgotten to strip down to her skin. Of course, it was a matter of her animal instinct coming into play. Her breath was taken from her as she looked down at her ripped clothing. Quickly she crossed her arms, it was a little notice able to see her undergarments and most of her long legs were now exposed. Which wasn't much of an issue but there was no doubt she'd have to go wardrobe shopping before Winter kicked in.

Tara could have lashed out at the man but, she had absolutely no reason to. Instead she examined his reaching hand. “It happens, I was acting very childish.” Taking in a deep breath she wiped her mouth clean of the warm blood around the corners of her lips. Human blood was never a desirable taste. Gathering spit inside her mouth, it wasn't an attractive site but it was to get what was left of his bodily out of her mouth.

Then she lifted her hand up, the one that did not have any residue on it. "Tara... You must be..?" Not many people preferred to give out there name but Tara, she had no alias to go by anyway. She was much more formal than the average Sunberthian who would've just fled from the scene or continued to argue. He didn't seem like the everyday Sunberthian either.

oocSorry for this one being so short, they will get more detailed I assure you.
