Torr took the crossbow from his back pulling back the string and grabbing a bolt from his quiver, giving a small nod when Markus said the fire rate of a crossbow was a lot lower then the shortbow.
"True,But for me that isn't that important anyway." He picked out the target next to Markuz. "You a squire? I wish you luck for your promotion then." He said in the same blunt tone." Torr took aim on the target and let his bolt fly. The bolt flew throught the air hitting the target ,barely.
"Damnit." Torr cursed underneath his breath as he reloaded his crossbow.
" I got here to find a job, there where some... problems in my home village."
He took aim again this time taking some more time for it.

[Training] The art of bows. (Torr)

Postby Markus Andres on October 17th, 2010, 3:12 am

The second arrow didn't hit any truer than the first. In fact, it was worse. Barely staying on target. He pulled out another arrow and put it on the string. Pulled back the string and he felt the bow resist him. Markus aimed in and let the third arrow fly. He had a good feeling about it, and damn straight. It hit only a couple of inches away from the middle of the target. He just needed a couple of shots to calculate how to shoot.

"Thank you." Markus replied when Torr wished him luck.

Markus drew a third arrow and listened as Torr said he was looking for a job. He wondered if the knights by the main gate had directed him at the unemployment office. He wondered whether he should mention it or not. The fourth arrow, because of him being distracted by his thoughts, flew over the target and landed behind the target. Which annoyed Markus.

"Have you heard of the unemployment office? They almost always got a job ready for you if you need one. It might not be a glamorous job, but it gets food on the table..." Markus said as he stringed another arrow and let it go. He was still distracted, but this arrow managed to stay on target.

Torr let loose the bolt, but the extra time he took while aiming didn't payed of it seemed, The bolt punctured itself in the target, still far away from the middle but a lot better then the first one.

He listnened to Markus as he began to tell him about the unemployment office, giving him a small nod."Yes I did, I already visited them and they gave me the job of hunter." Torr said while pulling back the string for his crossbow.
"So do you want to tel me why you where so nervous around me the first time I saw you?" Torr just trew out the question as an afterthought as he was loading his crossbow. Putting it back towards his shoulder afterwards to take aim.

Smack. Right in the middle of the target. Markus stood mesmerized for a couple of seconds. It was pretty rare that Markus managed to land such a perfect shot. Man, he felt the pride swell inside of him. If he could just continue with that kind of shots and he would become a master of the bow in no time. Then maybe he would be good enough to go out on his quest. He really doubted that he would be forced into using his bow that much, considering he preferred to use his shield and sword. But, it was a requirement that knights were experienced with some sort of long-range weapon.

"Huh? Nervous?" Markus asked as he gave it a seconds thought. "Err, it was nothing..." He lied. Not wanting to talk about his mask, since it was there for a reason and that could be personal. He didn't want to pry, especially not when the guy was armed with a crossbow. Markus pulled another arrow out of the quiver, stringed it, pulled back the string. Exhaled slowly before he let go of the arrow. It hit the target, of course, no where near the middle, the former shot had been a lucky shot.

Torr fired and the bolt flew over the target, He cursed loudly, bolts weren't cheap and now he probably lost one.
"Err,it was nothing..." Torr shrugged when he heard Markus say that.
It wasn't his bussines anyway about what unnerved him.
He reloaded and took aim again, this was actualy quite embarasing, He told Markus that the crossbow was a lot more accurate then the bow and here he didn't even hit the bullseye once, Unlike him. Still, thinking like that didn't help him a bit when he was hunting so he just calmed down and fired hitting the target in the second circle.

[Training] The art of bows. (Torr)

Markus was actually having a pretty good day at the archery, unlike recently, he was actually hitting the target with the majority of his arrows. Including a duo close to the center or in the center of the target. But the knights would probably not be satisfied with his ability with the short bow until he could split an arrow down the middle from halfway across the city. Or else he would just have to be good enough to hit a moving target from some 50 yards away. But Markus, preferred close quarter combat to using the bow. Which was why he had spent far less time training with his crossbow, than he had with his blade and shield.

Markus pulled out another arrow from his quiver and took careful aim. Pulled back the string and took careful aim. Raised the bow a little and let the arrow fly. Watch it make a soft arc before slamming into the top of the target. But it was in the horizontal center. He just needed to aim a little lower and then he would have the perfect angle to fire the arrow. Assuming he could reproduce the exact same pull on the string.

"So, are you a good hunter?"

"Fairly good if I say so myself. I don't do a lot of things besides hunting so I guess I would be good at it." He walked towards the targeting post and grabbed one of his bolts and tried to pull it out of the wooden stand. he frowned underneath his mask when the bolt refused to even budge a little bit. "Common you damn thing get out." Torr muttered underneath his breath putting his weight behind it. Suddenly the bolt shot out of the target and Torr fell on his ass. Torr heard some people laugh at his misfurtune and couldn't help but feel a bit embarrased by it. It certanly would have looked quite foolish. he stood back up and put away the bolt. then he began to pull out the the others, Luckely they where in the straw part of it, so removing them wasn't a problem.

"I am going to look for my other bolt for a while, Do I need to grab your arrow to?" Torr yelled towards Markus

Markus let one last arrow go, that hit the edge of the target. Perhaps he couldn't reproduce his former shot. But it had stayed on target and if it had been a human, that arrow would have hit him in the thigh. Not a lethal place to hit, but it certainly would slow down any man, and perhaps even knock him out of the fight. He turned to Torr and gave him a smile.

"Sure, that would be nice. Thank you." Markus said when he offered to go down and pick up Markus' arrows. Markus put down his bow and looked around the range. Wondering how many people came here to hone their archery and crossbow skills.

Torr didn't see the smile because he already, walked of towards the direction where the bolt and arrow probably flew keeping his eyes on the lookout for them. He saw a bolt lying a few feet away from him, the tip pressed deep in the ground so that the shaft was almost invisible. He bend down and gripped the shaft, feeling a strange draft above him and a dull thud of an arrow in front of him. He veered upwards and looked behind him.

"Wich of you bloody idiots has that bad of an aim!"

Markus was about to say something when he saw the arrow in the air, but he simply didn't have the time to say anything. It was an arrow in flight after all. Markus hadn't noticed where the arrow had come from, he just knew that someone had broken the rules pretty badly. Or just had a very poor aim. An incredibly poor aim. Markus would rush out to Torr and stand by his side while the man yelled at someone. Who wisely chose not to stand out. For Torr seemed pretty intimidating. Not because of his size, for Markus dwarfed him there, but because of that strange mask.

"Relax Torr, it was just an accident. Let it slide."

Markus patted the masked boy or man on the shoulder.

"What do you say we return to shooting, if you're up for it."
