Ven the Model
Summer 12th 514 AV, 19th Bell
Location: The Save Haven Hostel
How drab this place could seem when nighttime seemed to arrive, granted that Syna had gone down and Leth was no doubt the one to illuminate the world. Even so that still didn't do wonders for Toan seeing as how nighttime was his favorite part of the day, granted it used to be until he started to live here in Nyka. Of course his stay wasn't meant to be permanent but there was the consideration of what awaited him here, all he needed to do was find a respectable means of building a wonderful reputation and then the exciting part could finally happen. Pity that the night is filled with nastiness we don't want lurking about. He irked as he looked out the window before closing the curtain, he released a sigh then as he started to pace around the room while Ven started to stir.
There was but a stretch and loud yawn that escaped from the fox as he laid asleep in the makeshift bed Toan provided him, granted the few extra pillows were requested as a "luxurious comfort" on his part. He had yet to reveal the fact he had a new pet to the woman here, granted she already didn't seem overly fond of him to begin with. Toan took a seat at the small desktop table then, his sketchbook wide open with the latest practices he'd been working on. While he'd been getting down the forms of shapes and working on mastering the shading, his real efforts have been spent on the capturing of actual life down in the forms of real pieces of art. Granted Vanari was the only one he'd successfully tried that on, the drawing certainly didn't turn out quite as good as he imagined it would. Still all the same it resulted with him wooing her and in turn getting something out of it afterwards, so he couldn't really complain about the fact it served purpose in charming her in the end.
Alas the other forms of the art he sought weren't anywhere near as beautiful, quite the contrary they were rushed and failures because of how incomplete they proved to be. People in Nyka failed to realize that they generally needed to sit still really, and tended to prove a bit too fidgety to try and print into a piece of art. He needed something that would move him, inspire him to better create life. Something that wouldn't move around so much, and allow him to capture the essence he craved so he could better his work. There was a flash as Ven stood on two legs in his human form, his curiosity grabbed the better of him as he went over to peer at the artists rushed workings. "You spend every waking chime doing something with that book you know, just what exactly is it you're trying to accomplish anyway?"
"Perfection." He murmured as he contemplated the word. It was an ideal that he sought to have, a concept that escaped him every time he reached for it. Why that was so seemed to be beyond him, but it was by far the very thing that would allow him to carry out his real ambition. Recognition. "I wish to capture visual forms of life and reality, make them appear great so that those who appreciate art may recognize this ideal."
"I thought you had other plans... something you said to be a bit more exciting that this anyways." The Kelvic remarked as he moved over to the bed, with arms folded back he allowed himself to fall over on the mattress with a sigh, his spiritless sigh a sign that he was all but impressed with the situation.
"In good time dear boy, in good time." He mused as he glanced over at the Kelvic, a gentle smirk on his face as he still contemplated on finding what in this city could serve as his source for inspiration. Generally he enjoyed drawing women but that was because that tended to lead him elsewhere, if he ended up playing his cards right of course. So what exactly would allow him to draw inspiration just for its own source?
"You know," Toan looked to Ven once more as the boy seemed to turn over on his belly, "I don't really get you. You say all these things and yet nothing happens, however you say all in good time like it could happen anyways." He played with the fire from the candle then, his head craned on a hand while the fingers on his other hand fiddled with the smaller flame. "So if you're planning for something ahead, how's it going to happen when you sit around and fill that book of yours with drawings?" Toan felt his insides cringe just a bit, until he remembered that the boy was Kelvic, thus he probably didn't understand the importance of art just yet.
"It'll help me in the future if I can boast about it and have the necessary skill to back it up, after all it doesn't pay for one to be all talk and no proof to follow." He pointed out even though he could admittedly say otherwise, rumor and gossip could so easily play a heavy part in his reputation if he used it carefully. After all that was how names got around and he aimed to see his own do the same, just as he thought of this though the solution to his previous dilemma somehow appeared before his very eyes. While he would never have thought of it before, seeing Ven right now in his very own birthday suit as he played with the candle, that contained an essence of life Toan wanted to catch. And why not?! The boy was his pet and it would surely help him learn to appreciate the value of art, especially when ladies could ogle and adore the face of the Kelvic when they viewed such art.
That and... thinking of the possible income this could bring him, not that wealth mattered but it certainly would help advance his cause. Yes.. Ven was the perfect thing that would bring Toan's ambitions to fruition, he was the key that would help the artist find the source of inspiration.
