84th of Spring, 515 AV
Early Evening
Isikai padded softly next to Aoren, the sound of the dogs footsteps a comfort to his ears. The tap of wood against the stones of the street echoed in the dark. He carried with him the wooden quarterstaff that had been with him for years. The trusty blunt weapon was more of a walking stick as of late than it was an actual weapon. It was later in the evening, the warm Spring air was beginning to take on the heat of Summer in welcome to the changing of seasons. While it was still several days away, it was close enough that it was something Aoren could ponder. Spring had brought with it a tide of change over Aoren and his life. He had grown stronger. He had found his roots in being bonded to a Strider. While there was still much to uncover in regards to his Drykas heritage, it was the biggest step in the right direction.
Most importantly, he had confessed the love that had been growing inside of him for Caelum.
It was Caelum that Aoren was slowly making his way toward. The day at the Sanctuary had been a busy one. As the season had crept on, Aoren’s work had begun to demand more of his time. He was not ungrateful for that fact. He appreciated a hard day’s labor but he was quite ready to spend meaningful time with the man who had become such a focal point of his life. The two had their differences, that was certain. They had obstacles that he had no idea whether or not they would be able to overcome. For the moment however, that didn’t truly matter. Aoren gently pat Isikai on the head as he stepped up to the kitchen door of the Alement’s tavern. Taking hold of the handle, he opened the door ducking down as he stepped inside. Isikai immediately burst in sniffing out at the floor. The dog gave an excited bark darting off to undoubtedly find Lillis and the pup that had become her constant companion.
“Careful, boy!” Aoren chuckled watching the large black dog dart off. He shook his head meeting the gaze of Elise. The keeper of Alements tavern looked as healthy as ever. Aoren closed the door behind him giving her a smile.
“Elise.” She nodded.
“Aoren.” The Drykas Seer looked around. A smile touched the woman’s face. She knew exactly what or more precisely who, Aoren was looking for. He gave her an inquiring look. She jerked her head in the direction of the tavern common room. Aoren gave her an appreciative nod resting his quarterstaff against the wall near the door. He gently pat her shoulder as he passed. The Drykas stepped into the main room of the Alements tavern taking stock of who was present. Festivities were abound in the city of Riverfall as Sava Chivan’s birthday was being celebrated. The tavern it seemed was no less busy. A few of the patrons ceased their animated discussions eyeing Aoren momentarily. He was a regular at the Alements though for entirely different reasons than most. At that moment however, he stood out somewhat against the backdrop of the colors awash in the room.
Clad from head to toe in a dark ebony black with scarlet and charcoal sashes criss-crossing his waist, the polished black boots on his feet and the cleanly shaven face accompanied with a fresh bath, Aoren was most certainly not dressed to be casual that night. There was something on his mind but it was not something for himself. He searched the room for a moment before the sound of his lover’s voice reached his ears. Smiling softly he clasped his hands behind his back making his way toward Caelum.
