87th Summer 515 AV
Morning

The summer heat for the most part had dissipated into nothing, draining away into the cool of late summer. Her eyes took to simply resting as narrow slits as she collected her thoughts. It had been a mostly slow season, she mused as she looked upon her papers, starting with a few issues in which to contend and deal with of a more personal nature. Once they had been dealt with accordingly however she was left to her own devices, dealing with the odd rumour here and there, watching and gathering the information on particular occurrences - with enough free time in between to give her the freedom to practice her sailing with the local fishermen. But now, with the end of the season drawing near did she find herself reduced to temporary thumb twiddling. At least, until the door was knocked. Lazily, Fallon let her gaze roll over to it, the dry tone escaping from her lips shortly afterwards, "Come in, the door is unlocked."

It was a courier who entered, sheepish looking as he firstly pushed the door open with his foot, turned so his back was against it and then through with the clear and obvious load within his arms. A large chest that caused her to simply raise a brow and look upon it quizzically. A chest? A delivery of some sort perhaps? The woman sat up in her chair then, fingers pausing on the desk as she gently and gingerly pushed herself up into rising. With a nervous look the courier quickly brought the chest forward and towards the centre of the room, mouth closed with a nervous chew upon his lip as he brought a rather larger, folded envelope forward. He released a stutter, "Delivery to f-fo-for Miss Skylar."

He held the letter out for her to take, and upon doing so quickly made a retreat back to the door. Was there something wrong? Had she managed to do something to cause such a reaction? Or perhaps there was something else pressing against his consciousness? The letter felt heavier than normal, and upon peering inside she could see a second envelope and an brass coloured key - to the chest she presumed. Her orbs gave a blink, a quick scan of the first note that was folded inside before she nodded to the courier, "All seems is in order. You may leave."

He seemed to sigh in relief to that he had been released, taking a quick retreat out the door and closing it swiftly behind him. It was merely a few ticks that she stared at the space where he once was, placing the key firmly upon the desk. It was the letter inside that she opened next, looking at the thick ink and carefully reading it, the date and signature that accompanied it. Unexpected was the words that came to her mind, that Caelum of Riverfall would actually respond to her. Admittedly it was some time ago now that she had sent out her own missive, but as she read through it did she feel the lips pull up into a grin.

How exciting, at last there was a project she could surely sink her teeth into and something that she had not spied too much on yet. But of course, she would have to take smaller steps in seeing to them done - she knew nothing of the Denvali Quarter, its people nor how long it had been there other than it existed. Then, of course there was the people in particular that she had to formulate a response on. Her lips continued to purse, the names repeating in her mind as she continued to read them - Captain Astrid and Priest Justus, she would not inquire directly but should they come up in idle conversation she would be sure to question. Pulling out her note book she turned to a fresh page, quietly jotting down points that she would have to cover.

Aim for writing reports two or three times a season depending on time and availability.
The Denvali Refugees:
  • When did they arrive in Zeltiva? - Post Djed Storm (512)
  • Welfare/status in the city
  • History while in Zeltiva
  • People of importance
  • Key events for the Denvali
  • Factions within.
  • Status of Captain Astrid and Priest Justus. Who are they? Are they alive? Etc - check for amber coloured stone.

Zeltiva Slavers and Merchants:
  • Slaver circles
  • Merchants who partake in such trade
  • Slave Hunting groups who lodge in Zeltiva
  • Slave transport routes - Zeltiva is probably a stop at most, possibly sent to Sunberth?
  • Slave Sympathizers - Ex-Scars.
  • Officials who may let Slavery exist beneath

Find a faster courier, collect 'trinkets' were possible of useful people.

Her frantic writing stopped for a moment, her mind buzzing as she collected her thoughts once more. Upon finding nothing she let herself nod to the last snippets of information and quietly slid the letter into the desk draw. Letting the ink dry Fallon moved on to other things. Taking up the key she decided firstly that she would need to do a plan of action, what were her options? What were the best things she could do?

Rumour check for one, along with some street sifting and intelligence gathering. Her mind ticked quickly to those she could use to assist in such a task, and those who would share the same amount of loyalties in regards to slavery. Her throat released a hum, eyes coming down into narrows as she considered the names within her mind before at last nodding. She would try to do as much as she could on her own merit for now, if things were beginning to prove difficult she could always call them in. For now though the aim was to keep this as quiet as possible - that she could do.

Bending down to the chest she slid the key into the lock, turning it and letting the click. Thumb pressed against the lid, a quick crack as she peered inside at the contents, and then promptly shut it again. Mizas. More of them. Her mind seemed to shudder at the very thought of additional gold being thrown at her on a regular basis, though on a counter thought it also proved to be useful to her. It gave her one less thing to worry about and proved that this Caelum was at least capable of throwing coin at her. Her lips gave a pull up into a smirk, the lid being once more closed and firmly locked. No use moving it now nor by herself, she would need help for that. Dipping the key securely into her pocket she set her mind to only one thing now - work and making as good as possible on a deal. Her hands moved to her equipment, note book and coat claimed, her now trade mark kukri being strapped to her person. With only one last glance back to the office did she go forth towards her first target for answering common knowledge on the people who brought themselves in from afar - the Denvali Quarter itself. And so, locking the office door behind her Fallon set herself on her way.
