87th Summer 515 AV
Morning
Morning
The summer heat for the most part had dissipated into nothing, draining away into the cool of late summer. Her eyes took to simply resting as narrow slits as she collected her thoughts. It had been a mostly slow season, she mused as she looked upon her papers, starting with a few issues in which to contend and deal with of a more personal nature. Once they had been dealt with accordingly however she was left to her own devices, dealing with the odd rumour here and there, watching and gathering the information on particular occurrences - with enough free time in between to give her the freedom to practice her sailing with the local fishermen. But now, with the end of the season drawing near did she find herself reduced to temporary thumb twiddling. At least, until the door was knocked. Lazily, Fallon let her gaze roll over to it, the dry tone escaping from her lips shortly afterwards, "Come in, the door is unlocked."
It was a courier who entered, sheepish looking as he firstly pushed the door open with his foot, turned so his back was against it and then through with the clear and obvious load within his arms. A large chest that caused her to simply raise a brow and look upon it quizzically. A chest? A delivery of some sort perhaps? The woman sat up in her chair then, fingers pausing on the desk as she gently and gingerly pushed herself up into rising. With a nervous look the courier quickly brought the chest forward and towards the centre of the room, mouth closed with a nervous chew upon his lip as he brought a rather larger, folded envelope forward. He released a stutter, "Delivery to f-fo-for Miss Skylar."
He held the letter out for her to take, and upon doing so quickly made a retreat back to the door. Was there something wrong? Had she managed to do something to cause such a reaction? Or perhaps there was something else pressing against his consciousness? The letter felt heavier than normal, and upon peering inside she could see a second envelope and an brass coloured key - to the chest she presumed. Her orbs gave a blink, a quick scan of the first note that was folded inside before she nodded to the courier, "All seems is in order. You may leave."
He seemed to sigh in relief to that he had been released, taking a quick retreat out the door and closing it swiftly behind him. It was merely a few ticks that she stared at the space where he once was, placing the key firmly upon the desk. It was the letter inside that she opened next, looking at the thick ink and carefully reading it, the date and signature that accompanied it. Unexpected was the words that came to her mind, that Caelum of Riverfall would actually respond to her. Admittedly it was some time ago now that she had sent out her own missive, but as she read through it did she feel the lips pull up into a grin.
