Unforeseen Adventure

Moxie smiled at his insistence and agreed, that it was probably indeed not going to come out in the wash. Though she was still not going to accept it, how could she? She barely knew the man, it felt like she would be taking advantage of his kindness if she were to. Though a little browsing would not hurt, she may of over looked something from earlier, besides she could not say no to his company as it was starting to grow on her. She was not very social and found it difficult to make friends since she had been in the grand city, so with that in mind she relented to him.

She could not help the loud sigh of relief that came from her mouth when he said they would not be riding the horse again. Moxie was fond of animals, the horse was kind, but riding on the horse was something entirely different. She had never been horse back riding, it made her feel a little less adequate in a place where it was common. Moxie felt as though she should go seek out lessons on riding a horse after this day though. That way she would not be so humiliated at her not so marvelous skills.

As they walked the road in silence, she felt comfortable. It was not an awkward silence, just calm and gave her time to think of the events thus far of the day. She had not expected to be on such an adventure when she came to the Outpost. Moxie figured it was a tranquil setting and would find herself bored, though excited to see somewhere new. When she woke up, who would of thought, that today would of led to trying something new, as well as being frightened to her core. She did not regret it though, because she did get to meet Theo and his company was much appreciated. Moxie found herself at a loss of words at times with him though, not sure of how to respond and it made her feel a little embarrassed. He did not seem to notice though and continued being his cheerful self, which liked about him.

As they walked the Konti could not help but notice Theo glancing over at her ever so often. It made he want to brush her face, perhaps there was something on it, that he kept staring at. She wasn't sure but the gaze made her feel a little self-conscious about her appearance. Moxie knew she was something a little uncommon, with her porcelain white skin, the iridescent scales, purple eyes, and stark white hair she did tend to stand out. With that knowledge she brushed off the feeling as him just glancing at her awkward features.

At the sound of Theo's voice she glanced over, listening to him speak. She was a little shocked that he liked her presence at that creepy house. She did not feel like she was much of any help, but it did make her feel the warmth of happiness grow inside that she was not much of a burden to him, even if it was just as an 'adult presence.' "I glad..I not a burden back there." Moxie replied to his statement with a smile.

She inhaled a soft breath, feeling the warmth of the sun on her back again, she had forgotten how hot it was giving the events, and wiped her brow with her delicate hands, peering over at Theo as he asked a question of her. It was a normal question, nothing too personal, though it did not exactly have a simple answer. She looked away in thought for a moment, then glanced back, "I came from Mura..Konti Isle..Seeking something different. Adventure..Knowledge..Something drew me..here." She replied a crease forming on her brow as she was not sure what exactly brought her here, though she knew that she wanted to experience new things. "I enjoy fortune..animals too..uhm I had not chance to explore..much things." Moxie did not know exactly what her passions were, she knew she wanted to work with animals eventually, but as of right now she told people their fortune for money. She had the mark of Avalis and could see people's past, though she rarely if ever used it. No one really cared to hear about their past, most people would rather forget about it. Moxie did not like prying into people's life either, so she usually kept the mark to herself. "I still explore the world..see what it offer. Life is complicated..at times." Moxie smiled up at Theo, staring into his eyes. "What you doing here? What you passion about? You have wife, family, in here?" Moxie tried to keep the questions as not so personal as possible, but as it were she was a curious thing and seemed to ask the wrong questions at times. She was indeed curious of Theo though, he was so nice and mellow, as well as so easy to be around. He was a very curious man indeed.

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

Postby Theo Popcampio on July 21st, 2015, 2:49 am

"I'm sure that whatever you're seeking Syliras can offer it. There's fortune and animals a plenty out here beyond the gates. The wildlife is, however, wild, see it as you fit. You should take care before adventuring, my lady, the wilderness is wrought with bandits and crows, among other things, it is a dangerous feet for any." Articulating Moxie with the ins and outs was habitual for Theo when he encountered a newcomer. He worried for her eagerness, she was naive to the harshnesses of life. A horse ride was a far lesser call than any true adventure.

"I myself have just arrived here, although I am no stranger to this land. I'm no knight yet, I'm squiring as of now, that means I'm training to be one. I do have some family, but I only see my brother, Walden, and I love him with all my heart." Theo spoke to the girl with an interest he could only carry with a stranger; it was good to have such a relaxing conversation with a stranger, it made the whole world seem a bit brighter to him.

"I'd very much like to be a knight, you know? And even more. You see, Moxie, and I only say this because I like you, the knighthood to me is just an avenue to higher power. I am loyal as a dog, do not mistake that. I view the knighthood as a way of bettering myself, stature, you name it, and I offer my service to them in exchange for that. And I'm damn good at it too, I have more in this than anyone fighting for honor."

Theo stopped at the sight of an eagle swooping overhead, in his claws he carried an olive branch. "Truly, I want this world and its people to be as my soul has always been: Free." The eagle had dipped out of sight behind a farmhouse. Maybe it was the wind, but Theo could swear he heard the raptor let out a proud roar as he flew into the distance. "If you should know one thing, it's that you should not waste time waiting to be somebody anywhere, especially here."

And before the two of them knew it they were upon the merchant stalls. It didn't take long to find Marcius, a salesman in cloth and furs.

"Marcius, my dear friend. It's Theo, Walden's brother. Hopefully your memory of me's intact."

"Theo! Of course, my dear friend." Marcius came forward to shake Theo's hand. Behind him stood racks, each holding a different article. Marcius had clothes for you the day you were born, and on the same day could sell your father the outfit he'd die in. Walden had owed him some money for a bit now, but Marcius was always down to make more, even pending a debt. "What brings you here?"

"My companion here is in need of some new attire."

Without another word Marcius swooped over and began looking at the Konti. As soon as he saw Moxie's skirt, he politely escorted her over to a rack. "You can look as long as long as you like, perhaps you'd like this," Marcius said, trickling over the replacements he wished to sell her.

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

Postby Moxie on July 21st, 2015, 3:10 am

Theo assured Moxie that she would find what ever it was she was looking for in Syliras, and her smile broadened. Perhaps he was right although she was unsure as of yet, given her personality she never really stuck to things and this was the first time she had spent so long at something, living here in Syliras. His tone turned as he warned of the wilderness and she frowned, she had no idea of what he meant by a crow. She was confused if that meant that the animal was dangerous or if that meant something else. "Crows..?" Moxie asked a bit confused to what that meant.

Theo explained to the small Konti woman that he was a squire, training to become a knight. He did seem brave so that did make sense to her, he fondly mentioned his brother, and it made her warm up to him. Family was a very important aspect to life, and she was here with out her family and it made her feel lonely. At least he had a brother here to offer him some comfort, familiarity, in this place that was so large and one could become so easily forgotten amidst it. "Family important to have these days.." She spoke softly, looking away so the pain could not be seen on her face. She missed her own family intensely, one day she would see them again, she was sure of it.

The man continued speaking about being a knight, explaining his reasons for doing so. He spoke with passion and determination, which she respected it was nice to have someone speak with such. He had big goals and she felt like he could accomplish those easily if he kept that passion and determination he spoke with. He mentioned that if she should know one thing, it was not to waste time waiting, her face fell from a smile to stoic and she nodded. He was right she had to stop waiting for what ever it was and do something about it, though she was unsure of how to go about it.

They were upon the merchant stalls in a short amount of time, and she watched as the man, Marcius, and Theo exchanged greetings. She was about to greet him herself but was whisked off to a rack before she could do so, she looked over at Theo nervously as the man was obviously in a fit to sell something. He showed her some clothing and a blush lit her cheeks, she was not sure what to say, she had not planned on really buying anything but did not want to be rude. She glanced over at Theo unsure as to what to do, then back at the merchant, "Uhm.. perhaps.. I.. I am not sure." Moxie said feeling a little uncomfortable at the attention the Moxie was giving her, she brushed her stark white hair behind her ear and looked away from him, glancing at the other garments. She pretended to be looking so not to offend him or Theo, Moxie really felt like it would be abusing his kindness if she indeed buy something, so she motioned for Theo, "Uh.. Theo... " When he approached she finished her sentence, "I not want to take advantage.. of kindness.. I .. I uhmm..." Her face flushed as she struggled for the right words to say, she was so flustered and did not know what to do or say. She chewed on her lower lip nervously, keeping her head down not looking at Theo.

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

Postby Theo Popcampio on July 22nd, 2015, 3:06 am

"Well it is, of course, no issue. Marcius charges a fair price, ain't that right?" Marcius nodded, seeing how the girl wasn't yet abridged to his techniques, putting it lightly. Moxie looked overwhelmed and flustered. It was confusing, even shy women had known when to accept a token in Theo's experience. On one level, he pitied her anxiety about the commonplace interactions of his world. On the other, Theo saw in her a typical lack of aptitude to adapt, a cowardliness common to the sheltered and ill learned.

"That being said, it won't be an issue any longer." Theo turned his attention to his merchant friend. "Marcius, my friend here doesn't desire anything per-say, would it be trouble if she simply got acquainted with your wares?" And the merchant stepped away, letting the womanly things to Moxie's attention alone.

"I do have a personal request, however, my friend." Theo said as the merchant was goinf to start his street preaching. Marcius' garb was common, if he had anything greater he had given it up for pleasure long ago. His ripped tunic, loose, belt-fit pants, and poorly tamed beard poorly reflected the coin he had. He was like any other man, prone to emotion and simple minded, and he was a friend like any other.

"What is it that you wish, Theo? Perhaps I could make edits of your poetry? Or join you in one of those masterful songs?" Marcius pondered in an attempt to embarrass Theo. Little did he know that Moxie didn't know him well enough to even know what he was mentioning. "Or perhaps I could help the girl clean her dress? Will that do?"

"The tone is not appreciated. Come, Marcius." And the two of them together walked to an altogether different section of his stall. He sold scents as well as clothing, two cuts of the same trade. "I'd like to buy some perfume, actually. Could you help find me something fit for a beautiful young woman?"

"Theo, I do not mean to make inquiries into your private life, but don't you think this too much? She won't even replace that forsaken skirt."

"No need to fret. This is for someone else."

"Ahh, I see. No need to worry, I have something fit for any lady, if you can fit the price." Marcius looked at Theo, "For you, twenty mizas."

Theo looked at Marcius' disingenuous grin, he smelt a phony. Walden was friends with Marcius, and Walden was also a swindler who kept similar company. "Ten," Theo bluffed."

"Oh no, no haggling."

"Yes, haggle. Meet me somewhere, that's ridiculous."

"I can sell it to you for less, granted you make one last push for thar skirt. Fifteen?"

"Fine, package that discreetly. I'm afraid she might faint at the sight of the bottle. Here's my bag, do well to not ruin anything in there, shaky hands." Marcius laughed as Theo walked away, everyone knew years of alcohol had given him the shakes. With that done, Moxie would not be happy to hear Theo try to appeal to her one last.

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

Postby Moxie on July 22nd, 2015, 3:20 am

Moxie delicate psyche just could not handle the panic that kept coming, she had to calm or self else she would be sick and weak due to the emotions that kept raging inside her. She hated being so weak, she had to try harder to be stronger, interacting in social situations was a weak point for her. She was not bold, nor blunt, nor could she just blatantly call someone out. Instead she was quiet, kind, soft, and well.. feminine would be the best word. She was happy that Theo took Marcius off and away, so she could browse in privacy, it really was awful to have someone leering over your shoulder.

As she scanned the garments she over heard Marcius saying something about poetry and songs, she could not see Theo engaging in either of those, although the man said he did. She made a note to ask him when this was all said and done. As they left to a different part of the stall, she found what she was looking for. It wasn't nothing extravagant, actually it was quite basic, just like she liked it though. She knew this skirt to be 4sm, just like the skirt she was wearing now. With that she lifted it up, to find Theo. She would offer to tell him his fortune some time in the future as payment for his generosity, that way it was a win-win situation.

She found Theo walking in her direction, and she lifted up the skirt before he could say anything about her refusal, "I think this will do. I will pay back with a fortune, when ever you wish it." Moxie simply replied in a firm tone, not taking no as an answer to that. She pushed the skirt in his hands and walked away in the direction that they had come from, so he could not argue.

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

Marcius wasn't exactly keen on the deal, seeing as how easily the skirt was obtained by Theo, but his absent mind hadn't paid any attention to what actually happened. Theo was a little stunned himself, he knew Moxie was shy, but the matter-of-fact was he didn't appreciate how she went about the whole thing. He expected a thank you, not some fortune. Theo didn't need his fate laid out for him, he knew where he was going. It was an insult to his autonomy.

"4 silver, take it, that's all. No more games Marcius." The perfume was already in Theo's bag he'd seen. "Square?"

"Yeah, sure, Theo." The merchant was sobered by Theo's same qualtiy. Theo hardly had known how to contain himself in that moment. He would of spit a mean word at anyone coming his way. Marcius didn't look like he wanted any trouble, he was truly a nice man trying to make the most of his money, not that haggling had anything to do with Theo's temper.

It was hard to soak in a temper for Theo, and to be truthful, he didn't know why he took such an insult now. Moxie was hardly familiar with the language, let alone it's customs. Lester was talking in Theo's head now, how mingling with common citizenry is only good to a point. Theo had crossed that point by now, feeling so insulted as he did. He wondered what Lester would say and think.

"I'm sorry, Marcius." There was nothing more to be said. Theo had to catch up to Moxie, walking off in the distance. He still had the chance to be nice. "Got your skirt; how about that fortune?" Theo did his best to feign his interest, hopefully she'd like that. "Tell me, what's to become of me?"

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

She had made it to where her and Theo first began towards the merchant stalls before he did. She inhaled deeply, then exhaled in a long breath. The Konti were known to have a gentle psyche and she had to get out of that social mess that was causing her such a panic inside her, before it harmed her in a way that would damage her. Moxie had just got her breathing under control and her pounding heart when Theo game with her skirt she looked down at it then back up at him with a face full of sorrow, "I so sorry, I felt under pressure. Thank you. You are so kind. Fortune can come later. Unless you want now?" She let out a small breath as she finished the words, touching the skirt fondly. He was indeed kind to do such a thing for her, with out even knowing her.

She looked into his eyes, she truly was sorry for the way she had acted. It was not like her to do so. The last few days had been a bit of a challenge for her emotionally. Moxie was not sure how to handle things as it was with her present problems, then to feel so trapped was something she was not used to. "Forgive me? She asked this in a small voice that came out soft, hoping he would know how badly she felt for it. Theo seemed to be a man who was so sociable, he probably would not understand what she just felt. The Konti held his gaze though, peering into his eyes deeply as she asked for his forgiveness.

If Theo did not give her the forgiveness of her actions, she would understand as it was quite rude. This man did not know her very well yet, nor how she typically acted. He did not see how she was a peaceful soul with a kind heart and a soft soul. She wondered if he thought her to be a rude and disrespectful child. His views would be right however if he did assume such, especially by the way she had just acted.

When she got the chance to reply, Moxie burst onto Theo with a deep winded apology. He almost didn't believe her, and he was kind of embarrassed for her that she felt the need to say such things. He was smiling, happy to see her experiencing such emotion and honesty, but he feared a little for her sanity as well. I hope she doesn't truly think this is anything to truly worry of. Perhaps this is just who she is, she is of a different land, a different people. I am traveled but have paid no visit to the Konti's island,I should take better care of my own ignorance.

Theo let out a light laugh, "Moxie, there is no need to fret. There is no concern on my end, nothing to forgive you for." Theo looked at her with the new skirt in her hands, "That's a fine use of four silver, and fair pay for what help you gave me. Say nothing more of it, I insist." And Theo thought he was right in that, although he couldn't reason why in such a short time. Generosity is a gray-area virtue. But, still, she doesn't seem to have a good notion of what Miza's worth, maybe this bit of our jargon will be good

The sun was beginning to start its slow descent towards the horizon. There plenty of daylight still to be had, but Theo didn't want to risk any kind of bad rep with his superiors, his report of the matters would be a needed testament to the ghosts presence. It'll look good on me to show up with some haste. I bet they expect me to wander off with this weak mule and sub-par gear like half the others do. Me? I know how to get what I really need out of this deal.

"Now, Moxie, it has been good fraternizing, but my duties remain; right now my duty is to get my ass back in that god-forsaken castle. They expect me to take some time, struggle with the steed some, they did send me on quite the errand, but I must not push my luck." Theo looked at her violet eyes. I should be more blunt, perhaps that won't stick. "If you want a ride back from me, I'm leaving now." Theo let out a sigh, the knightliness was so much at times.

Unforeseen Adventure [Theo]

Postby Moxie on August 2nd, 2015, 4:43 am

Theo reassured her that there was no need to fret, although to her there was. She was a peaceful soul and felt badly for being so rude. Moxie sighed and nodded her head, as he mentioned how it was four silver and he insisted she have it. "Thank you Theo." She said faintly, giving him a smile. He was a kind person and she figured he would make a great knight as well. The knights of Syliras were all so kind, well unless you break the laws then they were not very kind but fierce upholders of the law, it even out though.

She dismissed her thoughts on Knights as he explained how he needed to get back, because of his duties. She supposed he was right, though she was happy to have met him she did not really want it to end so soon. He offered her a ride and she gave him a bright smile that touched her violet eyes, "Yes please.. my feet hurt... from walking." She explained, happy he offered her the ride because she would never ask such from the man, he had already done enough kind acts towards her.

The mounted the steed and headed off to the castle, once they arrived Theo would help her down and she would be own her way thanking him once a again for all he did and for the lovely day that he provided for her. He would then go back to what ever duties he needed, as she walked to her apartment for some much needed rest and a foot massage. Perhaps pouting to her bond mate would get her that foot massage, if he was not busy that is, she was about to find out though.

oocSorry it was short, was lacking in the creative department. Thanks for the thread with Theo, thought it would be a good stopping point here. Though if you would like to do another thread PM me and let me know. BTW that template is awesome ;).

Comments: Nice thread. Moxie is certainly shy but Theo was very gracious and generous with her. It would have been interesting to find out more about the haunted house and the ghost that resided there, but it seemed as though it was beyond Theo's abilities.

Note: Please try to stick to existing store locations such as "Toppe's Traipsing" for clothing. It sounded like you found the stall at the Mithryn Market, however, the market only sells basic items and not luxury items such as perfume.
