Looking for Magic-Users willing to Teach in Syliras

I'm new and my character just came to Syliras. She's interested in learning magic as soon as possible from anyone willing to share their knowledge. So if you're willing to be a mentor-like character to an overly ambitious Vantha with no magical know-how whatsoever, contact me.
I'm also willing to thread other things as if you're interested.

I'm a mage, and I'm to be rping in Syliras for late fall. As to whether or not Clyde would be willing to instruct anyone in magic, well that would be left up to IC threading. He's had a few pc apprentices of magic before, though he doesn't have any currently. Honestly though, considering Syliras' stance on magic use, it seems an odd place to go to learn. So, perhaps a few questions to help me understand her better, and to perhaps better understand what you actually want and why. 1- How did Avae get to Syliras/why is she there? 2- How does she plan to go about finding a person to teach her magic? (wandering about in the woods, hoping to chance upon someone throwing fireballs?) 3- What does she have to offer? What incentive is there for anyone to initiate her into magic? (thats a big one, seeing as going about doing magic-y stuff is liable to getting one killed or turned into the knighthood as a mage, i.e. please refer to former mention of getting one killed. Doesn't have to be money, so feel free to be inventive in her method of barter. Plus, money is boring once you've got enough to eat.) 4- Why should someone initiate her into magic? (this is different than the former question. Assuming she can offer something, and be able to pay for initiation, why her? What about her would say "worthy of being a mage?") 5- What magic is she wanting to learn?(this is a bit OOC, since well IC she likely wouldn't even understand the question, and would likely be unaware of the wide variety of magics Miza has to offer) 6- What does she know of magic?(considering that most people don't know much of anything about magic, and even mages usually only know about their respective area of study, I'd imagine it wouldn't be much beyond "Magic does stuff, and has power, and etc, and so I want it for power or to help people, or insert other reason here.") 7- If she got magic, what would she do with it? 8- What is she willing to lose for magic? Life? Limb? Hair? Beauty? Her soul? Her dignity? Her honor? I think answering these might help me in understanding your desire.

1) She came from Taldera in the late summer season with a traveling caravan. As for why she came, she heard that Syliras was the threshold of established civilization with many cultures and many possibilities from a member of that same caravan. She's always been curious with a craving for learning for everything, and in Avanthal, her birthplace, there's only so much. Not many choose to settle in a frozen tundra, even if there is lovely ice art, as one can imagine. After some serious contemplation, Avae decided that Syliras embodied her ambition and desire for change. To kick start her personal journey of adventure and fulfillment, she believes she must be in Syliras and that magic should be a part of it.

2) She has decided she'll ask around because surely the locals will know something. Avae will only ask the people she suspects of magic use and who look like they might, so she won't be asking completely random people. She'll keep her eyes and ears wide open, listening to rumors and conversations. Possibly not the best course of action, but the only one she knows to take.

3) Avae doesn't have much money, but she could throw that in, if that's what he wanted. She'd be prepared to offer her services, as a sort of personal assistant or errand girl. Doing whatever odd jobs the mage would tell her to do. Her skills are novice, but she'd obviously be willing to put them to use in service of the mage . Her skills right now are: Seduction, wilderness survival, persuasion, and a racial bonus of storytelling, but she could learn others. In the end, it'd be up to the mentor character to set the terms, and she'd most likely agree to most things.

4) Avae is keen and fairly intelligent. She has that manipulative nature most mages seem to have. She also possesses a rare amount of ambition, and she refuses to let anything stand in the way of that ambition. Avae sees the whole of things, the big picture, and understands the way things connect on a large, abstract scale. She is determined and resilient, not easily swayed. If she sets out to do something, she's going to find a way to do it. She is more than willing to make a commitment.

5) You're right. She wouldn't understand the question. All Avae knows is that magic exists, it's powerful, intriguing, and she wants to use it. Personally for me though, Auristics are what I wanted her to learn.

6) She's heard stories of magic her whole life. Granted, they were mostly dramatic and inaccurate fairytales, but they still intrigued and inspired her. Avae knows magic exists, and that it's often tied to life forces, elemental connections, and can be very, very dangerous. Other than those things, she doesn't know much else. The only specifics of magic she's heard of are divine magic and healing.

7) She would make her mark on the world, in her own way. Nothing is more frightening to Avae than the possibility of dying insignificant and without having changed something, anything. She wouldn't do anything too illegal, nor would she use it to kill people. She would use it to help her read/persuade/manipulate others to gain an advantage in perilous situations. She would use it to make things easier on herself. She would use it to help her accomplish feats and goals. If the opportunity arises, she would also use it to help people, even though she is not altruistic by nature.

8.) Honestly, she hadn't given it much thought, even though she should have. Avae is a "let's cross that bridge when and if we come it" type of person, but if it came right down to it, she'd probably be able to throw everything away but her life and full soul.

Hey there saw this and figured I'd offer you another course of action. If we did a thread where your character did something to impress Daresh, we could work something out, he would be willing to vouch for you to get training under a mage knight. With the promise you would join the order as a squire the moment you were ready, you could break this if you want but you would earn Daresh's mistrust. Not that he would work against you, unless you did something truly heinous. Would even be willing to train you in weapon skills if you would like. If you are interested pm me and we can work something out, or some kind of generic thread.

After I complete my knighting quest I'll be looking for a squire to patron. If your patient enough to to wait until it's completed.

Edit: Or maybe if you want to some how prove that your noble, selfless and disciplined, it's a risk for nivel to teach so it would have to be pretty epic. Magic is hard to obtain in Syliras if you aren't part of the knight hood.

the easier option would be to just add magic to your starter package, you could probably put it in place of persuasion. People would be far more inclined to teach someone who already knows magic than start someone down that path.
