Ferrin
515, Fall 32

It just seems to be a normal day, Ferrin decides to hunt near the Kabrin Road. Hoping that he will find some sort of game in the wilderness. He was told that some game could be migrating across the road, to find suitable habitats, maybe Ferrin could be able to intercept the animals before reaching the road?

The Kabrin Road itself, spreads through miles and miles across the North and South. The young hunter turned his direction East, his dark colored cloak shifting with the waves of wind passing through. Forcing cold air across Ferrins face. The leaves changed color, to shades of orange, brown, and red. But none has left there home within trees as of yet.

Ferrin heard bushes rustling far off to the East, where hopefully some game could be spotted. Ferrin readies an arrow from his quiver. Swiftly placing it on the string of his longbow. He inhaled a breath of caution and exhaled feeling relieved. 'Remember what father taught you,; Ferrin thought.

He stealthily crouched his way towards the line of bushes. A few yards reached, and he stopped as waiting for something to jump out of the bush. Then all of a sudden as what Ferrin had hoped for a Badger came out of bushes. It attempted to attack Ferrin, but Ferrin seemed to be farther away as the Badger had thought. Crack, an arrow from the young hunters longbow had struck through the body of the helpless animal. Ferrin felt glad that he had finally caught some decent game.

After Ferrin strapped the carved out pelt from the Badger to his belt, Ferrin noticed a campfire off in a distance. Which was odd, because the campfire seemed to be in a site where most campers wouldn't inhabit. But Ferrin was curious. So instead of attracting what was in the campsite, Ferrin hid his game within the depths of the Bush. He noted to himself to remember to come back for the game. Blood from the Badger was left dried onto Ferrins hands, but he simply cleaned it by pouring water from his water skin.

He has enough arrows to last in case something terrible turns out too be. When he looks back at the Kabrin Road, Ferrin noticed a few Knights who seem to be patrolling the Road itself. Maybe they have noticed the campfire as well. But Ferrin ended up being curious for his own self.

A few chimes later, Ferrin ended up thirty or so yards away from the campsite. A few fallen logs surround a campfire, just as Ferrin suspected. Dwelling on one of the logs, sat two armed bandits cooking their meal that they have caught and preserved. "Man this is great, robbing that old mans wagon rewarded us with excellent goods and tools!" One of the bandits announced.

"Yes, its all fine and dandy, but I really wanted to finish that old man." The second explained in disgust. Over a bit too the left of the fire were two camp tents, one of them was closed. "When is boss going to come out of the tent, do you think?" The first bandit asked. "Beats me, but shyke, he is missing out on a good meal." The second bandit exclaimed.

As if on cue, the tent had opened up and what seems to be is the boss of the bandits. "Aye got some leftover, I'm starvin' over here." The boss bandit huffed with distaste. "Aye, boss, there is enough to fill an Orphanage. Come and sit."

The boss chuckled a bit, but he hasn't noticed Ferrin yet. Speaking of, Ferrin decides to hide behind a nearby bush so he isn't noticed within the open spaces between the maze of trees. The second tent seemed to be closed as well, but Ferrin assumed at least one or two more bandits were within it. He shivered as if someone was watching him from behind, but he dared not to look back, keeping watch on these bandits needed to be important.

Hopefully the knights had noticed this campfire, or else Ferrin might have to take on 3-4 bandits by himself, he could probably come up with a diversion to have them be separated after the diversion has occurred. And if the knights come, they could probably help, after all they robbed an old mans belongings.

Revenge needs to be served and, these bandits need to be taught a lesson. With baleful intention. Ferrin knocked another arrow into his bow and waited for the other bandit(s) to come out of the second tent so he can start his diversion.

The air tonight was a nice cool feeling in Garland's lungs, the night was dangerous, but it was still beautiful, full of mysteries and wonder.

It was a shame that his partner did not have the same opinion as him.

"Tell me again why we couldn't bring the horses, Gar." Sylvia Lumistar, a fellow squire and friend to Garland. She hated the woods, especially at night. He had known her for quite a while and it seemed that she was getting more comfortable with the woods.

"We're patrolling the woods, we're trying to be sneaky." Garland said, a bit of irritation dripping in his voice. "Remember what the old merchant said, he was attacked a little bit up the road by a band of brigands. They are probably camped somewhere close by. They would either attack us or run if they heard us on horses."

Sylvia's face visibly grew darker, but in this light, Garland didn't notice. "Bandits? R-right... I'll be quiet" Sylvia stepped closer behind Garland, it took a lot of her willpower not to grab his hand. It was one thing to be in the woods at night, but trying to fight bandits in said setting? It brought back plenty of bad memories for her.

Garland looked back, seeing his friend visibly shaken, the light from his lantern illuminating her face. They were on the road currently, after a little while they would go into the woods and search there.

"Hey, it'll be fine, I'll be there to protect you." He said with a smile. This seemed to have cheered her up.

"Hmmpth! You're the one that's going to need protecting, remember the archer incident? I should have been there remember?" She huffed and crossed her arms at him, she may look annoyed, but she was grateful for Garland calming her down.

"I was fine, don't worry, it was just an arrow in my arm, nothing big." He said and simply shrugged, though he still remembers the pain and the annoying weeks of inaction. Luckily, the wound didn't leave a scar. "Shhh... Who's that?" Garland pointed to a figure with a bow, it seems that he noticed the two squires.

"Not a bandit, that's for sure, he would have run away or shot at us by now.

The man walked off, following a light in the forest that the two squires did not notice. They would have walked passed it if it wasn't for the man.

"Stay quiet." Garland said and cautiously followed the man, from the way he dressed, he must have been a hunter.

Garland unsheathed his sword and followed closely behind the stranger. Sylvia pulled out her dagger and followed right behind Garland.

After a little while, it seemed that they were heading to a camp, was it the man's camp, Garland wasn't sure, but he kept his guard up, if the man was just a hunter camping outside the walls, then it would best to escort him to Syliras, the nights outside the walls were very dangerous.

It was obvious the the man with the squires was not with the men in the camp. It seems that they found what they were looking for. The man seemed eager to help with them, he had already nocked an arrow in his bow.

"Sylvia, how should we approach this? Take them in for the knights to deal with or kill them?" Garland asked. The air around them shifted, it wasn't the cool, calming night air anymore, but instead it was a skin biting cold of the night.

Sylvia shook her head. "We should head back and get some reinforcements." She said with a bit of hesitation.

"That's the fear talking." Garland rubbed Sylvia's head gently with his gloved hand. "We do have backup." Garland directed his gaze to the man with them.

"You can't trust him! He could shoot you in the back as soon as you enter the camp." She half-yelled, half-whispered to Garland. Sylvia just seemed like she was trying to find an excuse to leave.

"Listen, there are three of us, and from what I can tell, three of them, we have the element of surprise, we should use it." Garland whispered and Sylvia looked down, a bit of shame on her face. "We don't have time for this, we will need to kill them, we can't haul them back with just the three of us."

Garland looked over to the silent man. "You good with a bow? Aim for their leader, if you can knock him out of the picture early, it'll leave the rest of them in panic and then the two of us will go in and clean up. Does that sound good to you?"

Ferrin

Ferrin felt a tingle of cold wind brush across his face he shivered and glanced behind him. He noticed the same Knights as earlier. Strolling cautiously towards him. Two, Ferrin counted, one with a sword so it seem seems and another with a dagger. Why a dagger? Ferrin was not so sure why the other Knight carried a knife around.

The male Knight held a sword. The Knight who seemed to be more used to the woods had asked Ferrin if he can use a bow. Ferrin lowered his tone to whispering, "I'm alright with a bow, just never used it against other humans, or beings of the sort." He shifted his position to feel a sense of comfort, although if he fails this attempt at shooting the leader of the bandits, this mistake would be a very terrible mistake.

The element of surprise won't be much of a surprise if the bandits found out that they were there. He took a small breath and exhaled, his hands started to shake under this decision. He shifted back facing towards the group of bandits and their gathering. "Shyke, we hit the load didn't we boss?!" "That old man couldn't stand a chance with the three of us, he scattered of as quickly as he could to Syliras."

"Quiet you fool, do you want to be heard, as I said before, Knights are starting to patrol this region, and if were not careful we would be caught. We departure at dawn if we don't screw things up, now hand be another chicken leg." The bandit did what he was asked and mumbled something like "sorry boss," but that is what Ferrin assumes well it would be nice if he apologized.

Ferrin whispered to the Knight that asked him the question before, "There's still another tent closed, from what I see, but I'm pretty sure that I can get a good aim at him. But we would have to act fast. If we really want to kill these men."

Ferrin heard an owl hooting in the background, the moon is shining dully through the maze of trees. Ferrin tempted to fire at the man waiting for a response from the Knight. "I'll try my best to take out the leader, but we have to work together to finish off the rest-" Ferrin whispered, though he was cut off by the leader bandit, "Aye you petching lazy fools, get out of that tent and come get some meat before this batch is taken care of."

The other two who were sitting on the logs were chuckling as if this is some family get together. "Or else you'll be hunting for the next two weeks." From the glow of the campfire, the boss smirked. Other features were complicated to spot within the shadows.

"Well, we don't have very much time, at least not enough for the other bandits to come out of their tent, I'm assuming one/two are within that tent that is closed.'

Time waits for no one.

Garland took a deep breath. He didn't notice the closed tent until the man pointed it out. They had no other choice but to kill them, if there were more two squires and a hunter can't take them to Syliras without them regrouping and even trying to revolt.

With a sigh he looked over to his friend. "Think you can burn that tent down while there are bandits still in there?" He asked and turned to the bandits eating by the fire. If they had some black powder... No, those things are expensive, and it would be a waste to use it on only a few bandits.

"Right, I can try to set the tent on fire." Sylvia muttered, she wasn't sure Garland had heard, but she was confident that if she were to blotch up her spell, Garland could handle the bandits, right?

Garland looked at the hunter with a small reassuring smile. "Don't worry about missing, an arrow near their leader would stun them for a few seconds." Garland inched closer to the edge of the clearing, carefully waiting for the hunter to let loose his arrow.

When the arrow was fired, Garland rushed in, yelling a battlecry and running into the threet at the campfire. He swung his sword low, catching one of the bandits off guard amd cutting a bit of his leg.

The bandit cried out in pain and stumbled back, landing on his butt before Garland plunged a blade in his neck. The bandit tried to cry out, but the sword stuck in his throat made it impossible.

At the same time Sylvia cupped her hands together, muttering words no one could hear, soon a small misty like ball formed in her hands. She blew on the ball of Res and it went over to the closed tent, she could see that they started trying to get out of the closed tent.

The fire from the campfire followed the misty ball as it hit the tent, spreading the fire on the tent. Slowly eating away at the fabric. She gave a small smile as the tent caught on fire, she was glad it worked, but still there was battle to fight.

She focused her Res again, the misty forming in her hands, she had to keep in mind that she must not overgive. Soon after the mist formed Sylvia closed her palm, making the ball as solid as a rock.

She cocked her arm back, aiming to throw it at the other bandit that was with the dead one before. She threw the solid ball of Res with amazing speed, and then transmuting the Res into air, forcing the man back as a strong concentration of air hit him squarely on his chest that sent him back to the ground.

Garland saw that the tent was sliced open sending out three more bandits into the camp. Garland turned to face the newcomers. It seemed that his plan did not work, he stood between them and Sylvia. She wasn't much of a fighter, so he would have to take the blunt of their swords.

Ferrin

Ferrin released his arrow, it swerved past the head of the bandit, before the two lesser bandits were able to react, the first Knight who seemed to be really reassuring swiftly attacked them and finished them off. But with the boss he came sprinting towards Ferrin after Ferrin revealed himself out of the bush.

Ferrin dropped his bow and quickly unsheathed his short broadsword. The bandit screaming battlecrie. The bandit eventually reached Ferrin and he attempted to thrust his Longsword directly at Ferrin. But Ferrins agility made it impossible for him to strike, and Ferrin managed to slide his body to the right. Clasping his hilt, with a lot if strength.

Ferrin thrust his own sword and with his speed managed to strike through the bandits skin. The young hunter, pulled out his blade and as he did, the bandit screamed. Blood was slowly spilling out of his penetrated side and dripping onto the earthly grass spoiling the grass with the blood of the sinner.

"You'll pay for this you petching fool!" The bandit bellowed and staggered a bit as he attempted to take a swipe at Ferrins waist. But the mistake was revealed and Ferrin swiftly stepped back and swung his sword as recoil. But failed add the bandit laughed while he blocked the strike. "You fool,"

He shoved Ferrin onto the ground with Ferrin landing on his rear with his back on the ground. He then lost grip if the hilt and the blade went sprawling backwards. 'Oh great, can things get any worse?' As if on cue the burning tent revealed three more bandits running out of the tent, scrambling with their weapons. The bandit limped towards Ferrin his sword posed to strike at Ferrins head.

With the bandits injury be won't be able to react as fast. Quickly, Ferrin took both of his feet, lifted them from the ground and pushed the bandit. Dazing him he started to regain balance and Ferrin quickly got up and ran to retrieve his blade.

After the three bandits ran out of the tent, they started surrounding the female Knight. Since she doesn't seem to have a very proficient weapon. In this case it is a dagger, and you can't do a lot of damage with a dagger against three other armed men. Ferrin had to act quick.

Ferrin rushed back to fight against the boss. Instinctively, Ferrin thrusts the tip of the red coated blade into the chest of the sinner. The bandit fell without a response. And Ferrin ran to help defend the female Knight. "Hey, I'll help you ma'am don't you worry, we can take these guys!"

The three of them chuckled in unison. Creeping Ferrin out a bit but he was determined to not let this Knight die. The first bandit announced a rude comment towards Ferrin "What are you going to do huh you petching furball?" The others laughed.

Ferrin isn't a Kelvick so that isn't very much as an offense to him. But he still wanted to kill these Knights. "Well I'm ready to dance with death if you are?" Then silence stepped in and they were dumbfounded as the comment was released. Rethinking their strategy.

Ferrin turned to the female Knight, "I don't mind the help, but if you think it is necessary, you should run to your friend over there, your friend probably doesn't want to see you killed. We don't have very much time."

In situations like these it is either Hunt or be Hunted.

Garland stared at the remaining bandit, it was a shame that the hunter missed the shot, but either way the plan only had a minor set back.

Then he heard the hunter fall back with a grunt and he instinctively turned to them. This was the chance the bandit was looking for.

The bandit struck Garland in the back, sending him to the ground. Garland hit the ground hard, but even before he turned to look back he rolled to the side, a habit he developed from training, being struck down while he was down.

A few inches away from his body was the bandit's sword, hitting the ground where he was lying. He muttered a silent thank you to his Patron Knight for drilling that habit in his mind.

Garland raised up his leg and thrust it forward in a kick to the brigand's stomach, sending his reeling back in pain.

Alright his plan was having a few minor bumps, but it wasn't something he couldn't fix with a bit of extra hardwork, right?

Then three more rogues spilled out the tent. "You've got to be kidding me..." He muttered and pushed himself up, the bandit he was fighting attacked Garland with his sword, aiming to chop his head off.

Garland blocked it easily with his blade, and countered with a backhand across the face. The ugly bandit reeled back, a few teeth knocked out from and blood spilled out from his nose and mouth.

What Garland didn't expect was that he recovered so quickly and retaliated with a quick thrust through the chest, Garland barely dodged the blow, only skimming the surface of his armor.

Sylvia was surrounded, her usual timid attitude was replaced with a dark emotionless gaze. Deep down, what was happening right now reminded her so much of that day, yet now she wasn't afraid, she was stronger now, right?

She can do this, she can protect people now, right? She didn't hear the hunter's voice over her own mind. The res she conjured up around her crackled like electricity, she felt something tap her arm.

It was the hunter that found the bandits. She calmed down quite a bit, and looked around, she had made plenty of res around her, she shouldn't have done that, and her body and mind screamed to make more.

Though she knew that the res she made was more than enough for dealing with these lowlifes.

She cupped a bit of res in her hand and looked over to one of the rogues from the tent, he was an ugly one, crooked teeth, no hair and a blank right eye with a scar.

She threw the res hard, striking the man right in the head, it didn't do much, but soon it covered his whole head in her magic. With a simple thought, the res turned to fire.

The other two were distracted by their friend on fire, and let their guard down because of shock and caution.

Ferrin

Ferrin realized now, that the young female Knight was judged to soon by him. The res, Ferrin read about it from a small collection of books at home. But there is only little that he knows about magic and the fundamentals.

As the young Knight scorched I've of the ugly bandits head, the other two were dazed and confused. Still standing in the sand position, just staring at their crisp comrade. One of them had an expression of animosity stretched across his face. The other, dumbfounded.

"You fool, you've killed our friend. Prepare to die!" One of them shouted. They both took an opponent, of course the muscle man took on Ferrin. And the other had a Longsword and was ready to take on the Knight. A Longsword versus a dagger. Probably not very much of a duel, but reminancy can be very powerful.

The once peaceful night, corroded by yelling and sword clinking sounds. The muscle, surprisingly had a weapon of choice in his hands. A mace. Strong, heavy and blunt. With the bandits strength he is able to just kill a man with his fists. Ferrin lures the big man away from the Knight. "Come and get some big boy." "Boy?!" "I'll prove who is a boy you squirt."

This muscle man wanted to beat Ferrin into a pulp, Ferrin eliminated the boss. But come to think of it, this one would be more challenging. Although, Ferrin has speed and agility. One hit from his mace can knock him out.

Ferrin wanted to study the big ugly guys movements and battle strategies, if the big guy had any. "Come get me big guy!" Ferrin motioned for the bandit to follow. He roared in disgust and anger. When the bandit got close enough he swung the heavy blunt looking weapon aiming at Ferrins waist.

He jumped backwards. Barely getting touched by the weapon. Close. Ferrin isn't very aerobic so he can't roll and attack at the same time. So he needs to fight around the big beefy man. Ferrin held his sword with tight grasp. He thrusts the blade into the bandit and he screamed in pain. The bandit dropped his mace and grabbed Ferrin by his waist and began crushing him.

Wincing and moaning with pain, the bandit lifted the hunter up from the ground. Luckily though he didn't hold onto Ferrins arms and Ferrin decided to punch the bandits face with such force that Ferrin heard the bandits nose crack.

The bandit dropped Ferrin. And when Ferrin fell on the ground, he grabbed the blade from the bandits waist and took it out. The bandit screamed again. Ferrin took his blade and stood up slightly dazed. He thrusted the blade deep into the bandit, and the big guy fell onto the grassy earth that will soon be smothered with blood.

Ferrin was pleased, but the fight isn't over yet. Ferrin tried to run to the other Knight with the dagger, but his muscles rejected the movements and so he attempted to speed walk his way. Coming to help. It looks like it though, that the Knight can take care of it.

Garland glared at the bandit, he rushed forward and attack. He quickly swung his sword to the side, aiming for the man's head.

The man blocked the attack easily, but Garland only gave a smirk, putting the man off guard with his smile. Garland's leg came up and kicked him right in the family jewels, sending in screaming a pitch higher than before.

With him reeling in pain, Garland swung his sword hard again, embedding his blade in his neck, the dying bandit fell on his knees and Garland placed his boot on the bandit's face and pulled out his blade.

Sylvia noticed that the hunter lured away the big one with the mace, the light made Sylvia's face looked quite cute, but her expression was quite terrifying.

She dodged an attack that was aimed at her chest, her res covered her dagger and turned the res into a flame and drew it close to the man's face. The blade grazed him and he felt blood drip down from his wound.

She stumbled a bit and fell down on the ground. She looked up to the man and was about to attack her. She panicked and threw her res at him, what she didn't expect was a lightning bolt shot through him and stopped him right before his sword struck.

She stood up and saw the man smoking from the head, his eyes were white with shock. "I-I'm done."

"We're done with this, we have to report it then... Umm... Thank you for the help. What's your name by the way?" Garland said and sheathed his sword. "My name is Garland, she's Sylvia. What are you doing here anyway?"

Ferrin

As the night crept father into darkness. Cold spread throughout the forest. Washing over the remaining fires. Including the campfire. Ferrin met up with the two Knights in gleaning armor. The male Knight introduced themselves.

Himself, as Garland, and his friend Sylvia. "Ferrin, Ferrin Al'Mandrikan. From Kenash. Thanks for the help. Before we leave I have to grab my bow and quiver." Ferrin rushed over to his hunting gear.

After strapping his hunting gear to his shoulders. Ferrin hurried back to Garland and Sylvia. Hiding the pain from the large and ugly bandit. "Ok I'm ready to get out of here. Do we want to search these bandits first?"

The night grew colder, winds chilly if you were bare. Your body could freeze. Well not frozen solid of course, basically just feel really cold. Ferrin wanted to get out of these woods, but knowing bandits. They can provide Syliras with secrets?

Pain pushed at his side again but he holds it back. Ignoring the the injuries. "I'm just going to sit on of the logs. Rest for a tick or so is that alright?"

"With a heart of steel, I raise my blade in combat. The only thoughts I have in my mind is whether I'd return home to my family. I am a soldier, and will fight for love and peace. That is the way of being a Syliran Knight"-Ferrin.

Garland felt bruised, but compared to training, he didn't feel as bad, on the other hand Garland went over and looked at Sylvia. "You're limping, you okay?"

Sylvia nodded weakly. "Just tired, and strained my ankle when I fell I think. I can walk back." She said and took a small step, wincing when she put pressure on her leg.

"I'll help, give me your shoulder." Garland said and put Sylvia's arm around his shoulder. "Anyway, to answer your question about searching the bandits, you can search for a few things and possibly keep it hidden, though most of the things they have will most likely be ill-gotten in nature. I'm sure the knights would give you a small reward for helping us."

Garland looked over to the six dead bandits and was quite surprised that they managed to do that, even if his plan was almost a complete and utter failure. "I would love to just lie down and maybe chat, but I think we'd best get moving back to the city, less we want the beast of the night to come and eat us up, and I don't feel like fighting anymore, oddly enough."

Sylvia agreed with her friend. "We should head back, my patron would yell at me if I didn't come back on time, I swear he treats me like a child." She scoffed and almost fell over with Garland.

"Hey, be careful!" Garland cried out, barely keeping his balance himself. "Well, we can stay here for a few chimes to rest and look over to what the bandits have, or we can go now, you can choose what we should do right now."
