He had been right. No matter what he had done, he was going to have pain. In this case, it appeared that the tiny creature was slowly removing his thumb. How pleasant. Time to think...again...

Bo categorized his options. Letting go of the Pycon...at this point, even if he tossed him away, he was still far too lively to have suffered much damage, if any. So...useless.

Not letting go of the Pycon....he knew he could force his way through the pain long enough to squeeze the heck out of the creature....but that would probably mean losing his thumb in the process.

Or he could use the only advantage he had -- his opponent was pinned, more or less. Now, having his opponent pinned under his own hand against his own chest was not exactly optimal, but it was a hairline advantage nonetheless.

The sensation in his left arm was coming back...just as pain was throbbing up his right arm. How ironic.... He wiggled his fingers and rotated the axe head slightly, planning his next move carefully. He would use the axe head broadside to pummel the Pycon. This would require having the blades at just the right angle when he lifted them and twisted to hit his own chest...otherwise he would slice himself wide open.

The pain was increasing, and his thumb was getting closer to snapping. Now was the time to act. Whipping up the axe with several of his fingers braced on the other side of the head, he used the flat of it just above the shaft and between the blades to pound the Pycon with one heavy blow. Because of the Pycon's position, he caught his own thumb, index, and middle fingers as well as his upper left ribs. He felt the knuckles of his index and middle fingers crack as well as one of his ribs...and not in a positive way. Fortunately, the nerve havoc the Pycon had been playing with that hand deadened the pain enough for a moment for Bo to lower Mortaeon, curl his fingers around the stunned little warrior, and hurl him towards the walls with all his might.

The instant he let go, he began taking count of his injuries. A heavily bruised clavicle and shoulder, maybe a cracked rib or two, two broken knuckles, and a sprained thumb. He had to yield...but at least he had made a good fight of it while he had the chance. As soon as the Pycon prepared the next attack, he would declare himself the loser and abdicate his position in the battle. This was amusement, not combat, and there was no need for more harm to be done...primarily to himself.

OOC :
Bo, Ball is outside of your hand, not inside of it. Also, you have just two of his limbs in your hand.

Ball hung there, slowly bouncing up and down to pull the man's finger down more and more. In his attempt to dislodge his limbs from the man's hand it was almost a shock for Ball to see the large shadow raise up around him. It didn't dawn on the nexus aching Pycon what it could be until he registered the whisper of air pressing behind up… Buffering is more accurate… What is that? That was when Ball saw the man's other arm flex, tightening his arm muscles as if pulling something closer to his body from a near flat level. The axe! Ball nearly forgot bout it and now the large flat blade was coming right towards him.

On the downside of his bounce Ball released his grip on the man's thumb, his body was already going down so it only made his decision easier and quicker for him. It was a near miss with the flat of the blade crashing into the man's hand and chest. The reverberations buffered Ball hard as the air was forced from his original location. Luckily, so wasn't Ball's limbs that were trapped. They fell at roughly the same speed as Ball, just a few ticks behind him. Reaching out for them though was not easy, gravity was working against the Pycon until he managed to reach out and stretch just a bit more. His hand wrapped around both limbs as if it was a large clay net and pulled the loving limbs back into the fold of his body.

It wasn't easy though and Ball thudded against the ground heavily just as his hand and leg popped out in their usual place. It appeared that the landing assisted and it most certainly did. Groaning Ball sat up, he was just on the inside of the man's feet, not in a place he can easily be seen from the man's current perspective, but Ball was in no condition to strike out against the man quite yet. It was a few ticks or so before he was even able to stand up on his two feet. Favoring his reattached limbs Ball stumbled behind the man, turning hard to the left, swinging out with his right. It was a low blow for sure as the pyken artist's right hand formed a hard mallet shape, the clay bunched in the square head hammering against the tendon that ran down the back of the behemoth's ankle. The tendon would have enough bounce in it to survive the blow and bounce the pycon's hand away. But that also allowed Ball to build up more momentum to return the strike a second time with harder.

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

As if hitting himself wasn't bad enough...he missed the Pycon. Fortunately, though, the pycon appeared to be stunned for at least a moment, more concerned with his lost appendages than with continuing to attack. Bo, took this opportunity to leap backwards blindly, his long legs propelling him a good ways through the air. He landed roughly, stumbling slightly to keep his balance, but as he came to a rest he saw that he had plenty of distance between himself and the little clay devil. The creature was just recovering from replacing his limbs, and as it looked up, Bo lifted Mortaeon and turned it horizontal across his body at arms length.

Unlike some people, surrender was not something that Bo detested. Rather, surrender was a tool just like any other. It was only a fool who persisted in a fight that he could not win with out a great deal of impetus to do so. Since surrender was an option, he would do so, and in so doing retain both his honor and his physical well-being. Chaos was chaos...sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It is the judicious man who knows that a loss with a dignified surrender is vastly preferable to a humiliating and dangerous defeat. In fact, by being the one to declare surrender, he was, in a subtle sense, keeping himself in control of the situation...not that most people saw it that way...but he did. Thus, with his weapon extended in that sign of non-aggression, he smiled and called out to his opponent.

"I yield! Dear gods, but you are a worthy opponent, Master Pycon! May I have the honor of knowing the name of he who has so bested me?"

Ball stood open, flexing his reattached limbs to regain what sense of control and power he had of them back. It didn't take long for Ball to do that as the clay hadn't started to petrify and he has shoved it into place. The feeling of removed limbs was still nagging at him and it made the little Pycon want to punch this man really hard in the ankle for it. It was refrain though that stopped Ball. That and he didn't want to kill the man.

“You can call me Ball.” His voice rumbled in answer. It hadn't taken long for the man to yield against Ball at all, longer than most surely, but he wasn't dumb that's for sure. A squire can be found there. Smart, knows when to stop a spar… Does he know when to end a full fledge combat scenario to the death? Can he end it and survive? Ball eyed the man, that weapon was massive and held in a way that protected the man's torso, it didn't surprise Ball at all that he instinctively tried to protect the main portion of his being. Ball though never aimed for that location unless given the opportunity. It was clear though to the Pyken Master that his opponent was pretty out of breathe, Ball was feeling a bit achy around his limbs, but he felt fine, having used most of his enemy's momentum and swings against him it was a good feeling to come out not constantly aching.

Ball rubbed at his left wrist, the clay sealed nicely there but it was that odd twinge that echoed from there that annoyed him, Ball didn't bother to ask his name, most likely they would never meet again.

“Come to the Recruitment Office sometime and look into joining up in the Order. You have quite a bit of determination in you. The Order could use a man like you.” Ball nodded and started to walk away, there was nothing more that needed to be said. It wasn't long before Ball gathered up his mount, planted himself in a place to ride upon it, and left towards the Dorms, a short nap was necessary.

OOCI am going to turn this in now. We really have little more to do.
