Maria listened to him talk as she ate, about where he came from, the whole personality thing and perfection coming at a price. He also mentioned Riverfall being the place he came from, it was a place she'd heard about before, but never seen. The only thing Maria had ever known were the confines of Sunberth and a few of the miles surrounding it. Now with her stomach full and throat no longer dry, her mood wasn't quite as dark as before. The entire story seemed strange to her, but then so did a lot of things in Sunberth. “You're weird, although it'd probably strike me as a little odd if you weren't, at least around here.”

As the two of them were talking a small bar fight broke out across the room, eventually leading to a mug being hurled that flew over the table between them. Maria stopped briefly to look at it, then disregarded the matter as the combatants spilled outside into the streets. “I was born here,” she said, now feeling a little more talkative. “Grew up on the streets, never knew my parents. Ran with a gang of kids when I was younger. I'm sure you've seen the newer generation of kids on the streets. It always ends the same way, they eventually die or move on. Got older, tried to find a job, wasn't easy at first. About the only job people wanted to offer me was being a slut... yeah... like that's going to happen.”

For a little bit she grumbled a few observations and personal opinions about most people didn't use the gods given sense of a rodent on an exercise wheel and she had no patience for stupid. There were so many people, even in Suberth, that were weak, stupid, and easily parted from both life and money. Throughout most of the idle commentary Maria looked at people around the room with disgust and there appeared to be quite a bit of pent up anger just below the surface. From the display earlier it also proved that she wore a lot of her emotions on her sleeve. “Life's a b*tch, then you die, the end.” Maria said.

He sat and listened to her speak about her past and present life, giving the occasional nod to let her know that he was indeed paying attention. "Life's a bitch then you die. Clever." He liked the word play of the saying. Something about it just made him like it. Rolled off the tongue real slick too. A loud noise from behind him as another fight had broken out. That made two. Boy the things people did when they got drunk past the point. He returned his attention to Maria. She was short, sarcastic like, snappy, and for the most part a killer. He liked her.

"Get me another drink you wrench!" The barbaric voice of a man too drunk for his own safety bellowed over the tavern followed by a loud smack. His ears twitched to the sound of the back of a hand connecting with a cheek. This was his kind of music. His head turned around quickly to catch a look at the man's face. Dirty with a scruffy beard and orange locks slicked back. Even in a different location, a target could still be found. He gave a drunken laugh with another male who one could assume as his friend as they both took it upon themselves to give the waitress a kick as they exited the building.

The waitress had walked over after picking herself up from the floor. "Anything else that I could get you?" A smile halfway across her face cutting into the red hand print that continued to grow in color by the ticks. They were pinged. His victims for the night. He looked to the waitress giving her a look of compassion as he paid for their drinks and meals, sliding an extra gold miza to the pile. "Care to join me in taking care some "business?" He emphasized giving a look before standing up to exit. He didn't want to leave Maria, but it was an itch that needed to be scratched.

For the most part Maria ignored the sounds of the various idiots as they went getting drunk and making passing at other patrons or fighting amongst themselves. The semi-controlled rowdiness of the crowd was nothing new and largely background noise to Maria. Naturally she always kept an ear open for danger, but thus far it was just another night at the Pig's Foot. The man in front of her was an odd fellow, but not one that annoyed her to no end. Unlike a lot of the other people in Sunberth who were content to survive, Maria planned to do something with her life. She would be a somebody one day, both fear and respected, or die trying. A simple life was just too boring for her.

Her attention was drawn to the sound of a fist hitting a face as a woman yelped lightly. When she looked around the barmaid that Maria had taken a liking to was laying on the floor holding her face. As a red haired man and his friend left the two kicked her, apparently for good measure, as they left. That alone nearly brought Maria out of her seat until the woman made her way over to their table. “Anything else that I could get for you?” The red mark on her face was growing brighter by the moment and was Maria's anger.

“Oh for crying out loud, are you alright?” Maria said.

“I'm fine honey, nothing I'm not used to,” the waitress said. Maria leaned up giving her a small kiss to the side of the face that had been wounded, then gave her a gold miza along with the payment for the food and drinks. As the waitress walked away Maria looked toward the door letting out an audible growl. She was about to go after them when Lo'Campo said something.

“Care to join me in taking care of some business?” Lo'Campo said.

“You must be a mind reader,” Maria said.

He wore a smirk on his face pleased that Maria had agreed to join him on a hunt. Now it was time to see if she had the nerve to match the attitude. with a grunt he pinned his hair back up. No need for it to get in the way, and blood proved most difficult to wash out of it. A quick fix of his attire, he stepped out into the night awaiting Maria to follow step as they stalked their prey. he began to pursue. Using the black color of his robes to stick to the shadows as he followed.

The two men walked ahead in a drunken stupor and though they were indeed drunk, they seemed to navigate the street impressively. This inquired to him they may be more equipped to defend themselves than they seemed. He had grown to study his targets before he stuck. It kept his mind sharp as well as keeping him from going in blindly. The man with red hair was large having a rather large amount of girth in his abdomen area. He walked with a large ax at his side that swung back and forth as he walked with his companion.

The second man was taller and about average size walking with two swords accompanying him upon his back. By the appearance of the two they seemed to be mercenaries or something of the sort. They were too clean, confident to be the usual thugs that called the city home. Though they walked with a stench of trouble that filled the air like the rest of the trouble causing scum. A motion of his hand to signal Maria to walk on the red head's flank. if things were to escalate unexpectedly then it would be good for them not to be stuck in the same corner together. He continued to trail the two, traveling through he small crowds of people that scattered the street. They would just have to wait for the right time to pounce. They didn't know these men or who they were connected with. Didn't want the wrong eyes catching them in the act.

Maria stood up and walked out with Lo'Campo, already thinking of what she was going to do to one of the men who'd struck the barmaid. The two didn't look local meaning they were probably just passing through. It was already dark by the time they left so this would make the job easier for the both of them. She quickly fell into step beside Lo'Campo and kept a distance from the new targets to avoid arousing suspicion. The foot traffic was already starting to die down so following too closely could no doubt cause problems. Once they got to one of the seedier parts of town Maria made a little hand motion for Lo'Campo to stay on them, then broke off and moved in a different direction.

If there was one thing the young woman knew, it was the layout of the city. Maria knew how to get ahead, around, or behind someone with little difficulty. Once she was out of sight the young woman took off at a small dash and began to cut through a few side streets and alleyways. The other residents and shop keepers paid the young woman no mind as she kept the speed of someone who was in a hurry, but not hurrying too quickly. After a short time Maria managed to get ahead of the two half drunk men, then stepped out of an alley a short distance ahead of them, after hiding her shorts swords in the folds of the black dress. Instead of openly attacking she took a slightly different approach.

“Hey there handsome,” Maria said. This caused the two men to stop and look over at her. To entice them she tried to strike a seductive pose, not something she was very practiced at, and followed it with a coy smile. The two men looked at her for a moment, then the larger of the two, with the axe, grinned broadly.

“Hey there little lady,” the man said.

“Looking for some company?” Maria said.

“Depends on how much that company'll cost,” the man said.

“Two gold miza, three for the both of you,” Maria said. The two men looked at each other for a moment, seemingly not too keen on the price.

“That's a might steep for a bit of fun,” the man said.

“Yeah, too much,” the other man said.

“Oh come come boys, it's not all that much when you get all this. Besides, I'm wearing five earrings, don't you want to find out where the other three are?” Maria said. With that she batted her eyes and slid the dress down off one of her shoulders. “Oh the things I would do to the two of you.”

The two men looked at each other for a moment, then to Maria, and grinned broadly before walking into the alley after her.

A fire burned in him as she watched her play the part of a prostitute. He knew that this was all a trick. A scheme, tactic to get the men to let their guards down, but the stares of the men scanning her body. Her soft skin, her light hair and bright eyes. The bastards could barely control the drool seeping from their mouths as they followed her into the alley. His muscles tensed as his temper began to flare when she slipped a strap of her top from her shoulder, nearly exposing her breast. He clenched his teeth, straining to not blow their cover.

He gave a look to Maria. A flash of jealousy and insecurity upon his face as he trailed them into the darkness of the alley. "How dare they look at her! She is ours to look at, to touch. Kill them now. Strike them now Lo'campo!"

He fought the voice of his darker personality tuning it out though it proved difficult not to listen to the voice of reason. They walked more than a couple feet than he, the sounds of the men giggling at what they thought they were about to receive. A hand motioned upward before placing itself upon Maria's backside with a loud smack. It was settled then. The hand would be the first thing that he broke upon the man's body. They continued to walk. Where in the petch was she taking them?. Where ever it was, they needed to get there quickly or there would be the smell of human flesh about.

Playing the part of a prostitute was something that Maria despised doing, it made her feel degraded and now more than anything she wanted to kill these two men and be done with it. The plan was to lead them close to the edge of town where there wouldn't be very many people about. Once there she would deal with these two and hopefully keep them distracted long enough for Lo'Campo to sneak in from behind. That plan however was never fully realized. The larger man reached out and slapped Maria on the butt, and with her already volatile temper, that was the last straw. Spinning in a complete 180 she brought an arm up backhanding the larger of the two men in the face as he was on the side the smack came from.

They both stopped dead in their tracks and seemed stunned by this, thinking they were both in for a good time. With a growl Maria reached down practically ripping her short swords free of the sheath and dropped into a fighting that looked almost like a boxer holding swords. The two men took a moment to gather themselves and quickly drew their weapons as well. The reason that Maria didn't strike immediately was so they would draw their weapons as she preferred a challenge to a slaughter.

“I shoulda known a little tart like you bandit rather than a slut,” the smaller man said.

“How about we turn her into the second instead of the first, before we kill her,” the larger man said.

“I'll rip them off and feed them to you before that ever happens,” Maria said. The alley was just large enough to move about in and Maria ducked under an ax swing then began deflecting sword blows from the second man. Her offense was fast and vicious, but unlike the gangers from earlier this man appeared to have some skill with his weapons. The sound of metal on metal rang out as their swords clashed high and low, and the ax wielding man tried to reposition himself to strike.

Hey kept quiet as he followed the trio down into the alleyway. He was surprised that a person with a temper like Maria's kept herself calm after being slapped upon her back side. That was it for Lo'campo, he drew his lakan ready to kill only mere seconds after Maria spun around dealing a back hand to the larger of the two men. Swords were drawn an ax swung out threatening her head to which she ducked. He had to admit she was a skilled swords-woman. Deadly and beautiful.

He snapped from his lustful thoughts, the sound of metal clashing against metal ringing in his ears. This was his kind of music. A flick of the wrist positioning his lakan for an attack as he moved silently behind his target. The two men were focused on bedding Maria that they didn't notice the rather large shadow beginning to loom over them. An arm extended wrapping it's massive mass around the larger man's neck. His grip tightened with his lakan tearing its way through armor and flesh burying its tip into the man's side. He didn't know if the man was tougher than he seemed, or if he were so drunk that he didn't feel the blade slide into him but one thing the Akalak did know was that it caught his attention when an elbow came back dealing a heavy blow to his ribs forcing him to let go of the ax wielder.

Regaining himself a quick lift of his dagger to defend a strike from the heavy weapon only to be disarmed. The ax came around again now having nothing but blue flesh to connect with. Feet flat, shoulder width apart. The ax came slow, heavy, sharp. Ducking low Lo'campo went into a backwards somersault gaining distance between himself and the ax. He didn't know where his lakan had flung to and didn't have time to find it with the large man coming at him again anger in his eyes. His arm went up and back taking hold of the hilt belonging to the great-sword. His sword drawn feeling lighter than before as he gripped it ready to attack and defend. The ax was swung through the air once more. Feet dug in to the ground ready to block the attack. The two weapons connected sending a shock through his hands fighting against him for control of the sword. Another strike as steel connected with steel knocking the sword away once more before he brought it back to its center. He would hope to bring death quickly to this man, his chest beating hard for the safety of Maria.

As the sword strikes continued and Maria fought the smaller of the two, she noticed Lo'Campo engage the other man out of her peripheral vision, but maintained focus on the target. The two were almost evenly matched in terms of skill making it hard to gain any ground. The man also seemed to have the stamina to maintain the fight for some time. In the process of trying to think of a way to defeat him an idea popped into Maria's mind, it was a technique she'd seen another swordsman use as a child. She didn't know if it would actually work or not, but it was worth a try none the less.

As the two continued to clash swords she waited patiently, watching for an opening, then when the man overextended himself on a swing she struck. Instead of delivering some devastating strike that cleaved him apart, Maria made a deep cut into his inner thigh. The man grunted in pain, looked down, then back up to her. “You'll pay for that you little witch,” the man said.

With a smirk she retook another fighting stance and waited for the man to attack. Angry over the wound he attacked faster and harder than before, not seeing the amount of blood draining out onto the ground below his feet. After about two minutes his stamina seemed to suddenly drain away and breathing became labored. The man slowed and took several deep breaths, seemingly confused by this sudden loss of strength. “What... what's going on? Did you poison me?” the man said.

“No, I'd imagine it's all the blood you've lost,” Maria said, pointing a sword toward the ground. The man looked down to see there was as much blood on the ground as there likely was left in his body.

“What'd you... do to... me?” the man said.

“Just a little experiment, guess there really is an artery in the leg after all,” Maria said. The man let out a low groan and collapsed onto the ground. At this point it was taking everything he had just to breath and it would only be a minute or two before death came calling. With a smile Maria decided to let him die slowly and painfully, then leaned against the wall to watch Lo'Campo. She would occasionally look back to make sure the smaller man was still dying, then return her gaze to the man in white. If Maria's help was needed she had no doubt he'd let her know. All things considered she'd had a fun night of things and flashed a small, but genuinely friendly smile, at Lo'Campo.

The game continued as before. His sword being knocked away for him to bring back just so it could be knocked away again. It had become very tiresome and annoying in such a manner that made him want to make this man suffer. He could tell that his victim was becoming angry at the fact that he hadn't killed the Akalak yet, his strikes becoming heavier and harder with each attack.

The sound of the two weapons connecting rang throughout the air as if a blacksmith were striking hot iron. As much as he wanted to slaughter this man slowly and painfully, he had to contain himself for the sake of Maria. He did not doubt her ability to fight no, but these were skilled blades-men, ruthless killers, his kind of people. And he did not want any harm coming to her of any kind. He'd slit the throats of everyone in this city if any hair were to be damaged upon her head.

There it was again that feeling. What was it? It was like a fire burning in his chest, his heart more specifically. Was it magic? He knew little of the subject, but did know that it made people feel things that they haven't before. He didn't know what it was, he only knew that he felt it when she was on his mind. It also angered him when things were done to her disrespectfully especially when drunken red haired men find it suitable for them to smack her upon her rump as if she were some cheap Sunberthian whore. The ax came around again the edge of the weapon gleaming in the moonlight to show off it's sharpness. He was angry now as things started to blacken. He knew this feeling, the feeling of being dragged away, pulled from the inside out. They were switching. He didn't fight it. He would let him out this time for they shared the same feelings for her. A glance from the corner of his eye caught a glimpse of her giving a smile. She was alive and well. Good.

The ax though a slow weapon deemed to close for comfort when he took control. A quick step back gained him another moment of life. He looked to Maria as his heart beat in his ears. "I am going to tear you limb from limb" Oumoc promised the man that threatened to kill him. The man paused for a moment startled as the Akalak's personality changed. He seemed darker, relentless, his stance changed as well as the expression upon his face going from murderous to down right psychotic. Taking advantage of the moment Oumoc advanced, lifting the sword and bringing it down against the ax. His attacks were unskilled as he continued in a barrage of uneven hacks and slashes pressuring the buzzed man back into the wall.

Another strike as he let go of the blade letting it bounce from the ax handle to where ever gravity pleased to take it before he lay his own hands upon the ax as well. The two men struggled a bit for control of the weapon but Oumoc was stronger, taller, and more pissed off. A hard yank gained him ownership of the weapon followed by a quick movement of his foot rendering the man to the ground upon his back. A large foot rested on his chest pushing down forcing the air from his body to leave. The sound of ribs cracking from the amount of pressure put upon them echoed as blood began to sputter from the man's mouth.

"You find it suitable to place your hand where it shouldn't be?

He lifted the ax bringing it down hard through the man's shoulder cutting it off before lifting it again with a "Slosh" He lifted the ax once more this time taking it through the opposite shoulder. The man lay without arms in a pile of blood crying out in pain. He hated these types of people. They go out into the world killing raping and doing sinful deed, but when faced with death they cry like babies. It was disrespectful, disgraceful even of one's self. He lifted the ax a third time before sending it through the man's skull were it was lodged. He used his strength pulling it free was a mix of red white and grey followed. Satisfied he held the ax upon his shoulder before another sound caught his ear.

A turn of his head revealed a small figure hiding behind a set of barrels. It was a dirty thing, small, with big green eyes. It cowered in fear of what it may have just witnessed. Oumoc looked at it as it tried to pretend that it wasn't noticed. His expression unchanged he approached the child taking him by his ragged clothes "It's ok child. I know that you are afraid. Scared of what you just witnessed but don't worry. I'll take the fear away."

A quick tossed threw the child upon the ground next to the man with his face split open. The green eyes widened at the sight. Oumoc placed his foot upon the child to hold him in place as he squirmed.

"Come now child. It will be painless. I will have mercy upon you, but I ask please carry yourself with more honor than these two bastards." He lifted the ax ready to strike.
