Watching Tebridiar run off, she smiled awkwardly at Kayiri. Petch. I'm alone with him. Petching petching petch! What in the Gods' name do I do now? Smiling and nodding, admittedly somewhat absently, Edalene attempted to at least pretend to listen to what Kayiri was saying. Really, she was just focussing on the massive freak out she was currently having inside her brain. She heard Kayiri chuckle, and as an automatic response she chuckled too. In an attractive way, right? Right? She hoped it was attractive. Eda accidently caught the eye of Kayiri, and looked away blushing. Petch, why was he so cute? Eda, she told herself sternly, you barely know the guy. Take a deep breath, and follow him while he goes and finds Tebridiar, the pretty one…
Eda set off, following Kayiri absent-mindedly. She had no idea what she was even doing here. What were they buying, anyway? She couldn’t imagine Kayiri, seasoned warrior of the Drykas, being all that interested in gloves and cloaks. Making sure she saw the lean body of the other Drykas in front of her, but not really paying attention to anything, it came as some surprise when Kayiri suddenly grabbed her hand – Petch, he’s holding my hand! – and pulled her off to the side of the Pavillion they were outside of. She quickly noticed that Tebridiar was nowhere to be seen. Gods, he’s going to murder me! What? No. Calm down. Too many hormones, Eda… Once again, it hit her that Kayiri was holding her hand. He was holding her hand AND NOT LETTING GO. She hoped her hyperventilation wasn’t too noticeable. Kayiri looked somewhat shocked, as if he weren’t entirely sure why he had done what he did, but he opened his mouth and began to speak. Eda tried to focus as much as she could on what he was saying, but, petching petch, he’s holding my hand!
Eda tried, she really did try, to listen to watch Kayiri was saying. But his melodic voice and his proximity and the fact that he was holding her hand meant that not everything he was saying fully sunk in. She was glad he went back to speaking Pavi – clearly, the superior language – and blushed as she locked eyes with him. She tried to formulate a somewhat coherent response. “A little sister, oh that’s fine, that’s okay, um sorry for being rude, petch I’m rambling again, sorry I do this sometimes.” Eda took a deep breath, trying not to concentrate on Kayiri’s larger hand holding her smaller one. “So, a little sister? That’s okay… I was just shocked. I’m sorry.” She let a long sigh out, mentally congratulating herself for sounding normal… of course, she only achieved normalcy after she’d made herself look like a fool in front of the guy she liked. Durrr.
Smiling at Kayiri as he spoke and squeezed her hand, she choked as he weaved his fingers in with hers. His entwined fingers gave her a jolt, surprising her. He was holding her hand as if they were a COUPLE. Petch, petch, petch don’t freak out don’t freak out PETCH HE’S HOLDING MY HAND… PROPERLY! She coughed, trying to remember what it was exactly he had said. Glancing down at their entwined hands, she gave his hand a little squeeze, hoping that she would get a squeeze back. If she did, it meant it weren’t a dream. “Warrior? I’m hardly even a warrior in the making… I like the sword, I just can’t use it well.” Nonchalance! Perfect. New tactic. Let’s see if this got a response.
