[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Edalene on November 21st, 2010, 7:04 am

68th Fall 510AV

In the bowels of the Diamond Clan area, Edalene paced. And paced. She'd been pacing for a while now. Damnit, Eda, it's not that difficult. It shouldn't take this much thought. Just go do it, woman! Or, girl. Whatever. Are you a Drykas lady or what? Yes. I am! With her inner monologue complete, Eda set off from the recesses of her pavillion to beat the path to a not-so-familiar one. As she walked, she thought. It's not that bad. It's just a day. You can get through a day without making a total fool of yourself... right??

Not likely.

Steeling herself, Eda walked right up to the tent flaps of a certain pavillion. Milling around outside was a slightly bulky, rather intimidating warrior with windmarks curling up his arms. She cleared her throat and stood in front of him. "Excuse me, is Kayiri in? I was asked to meet him here this morning..." The Drykas surveyed her disdainfully and swept into the Pavillion. Damn, that was awkward. Please, please, please bring Kayiri out. With that thought, Eda settled herself down on the ground to wait (hopefully) for the arrival of Kayiri - for a day of bonding and shopping!

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Tebridiar on November 21st, 2010, 9:53 am

Tebridiar was trotting around the city. It was great to be in a place where horses were welcomed so freely. It felt good to be admired, even as an animal. Lot's of people smiled as she passed, her mane writhing in the Autumn air. It was getting colder now, Autumn was passing. Soon it would be time to leave this nomadic city. She was leaving with Kayiri, her new friend, who had in effect saved her from her overbearing Master. This had given her a new lease of life, she wasn;t as introverted and withdrawn as she used to be.

It was hard not to notice such a splended looking horse. Glossy russet with blue eyes. and a strange curiosity. Most of the city had seen this horse before, as Tebridiar had been here about a month now. But not many knew that this horse was also a woman.

Trotting into Kayiri's glorious pavillion, she noticed a woman she didn't recognise, pacing.

"Ahh..." Tebridiar thought to herself. "Shopping day."

Supplies were needed for the journey to a new city. Two cities in two seasons? It doesn't get much better. Plus, Tebridiar would be a horse for most of the journey, as it was far. This excited her to no end.

The horse trotted behind a tent, and there she transformed. Tebridiar prayed no one was inside the tent at this time. She ran into the tent naked, peeked around. Luckily everyone was out or asleep. She grabbed her trousers, shirt, waistcoat, shoes and underwear and quickly put them on, running a brush though her red hair at the same time.

"Im glad I get to shop today..." she told herself. "I really need some new clothes, and weapons..."

With that she skipped out of the tent, towards the waiting woman.

"Uh, hello!" She still felt awkward around people sometimes, still that little hint of mistrust there. "I am Tebridiar, Kayiri's... hmmn, Kayiri's friend. I think. I take it you are waiting on him?"

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Kayiri on November 21st, 2010, 11:25 pm

"Kayiri, get your lazy ass up," the command was stern, bellowing forth from the barrel-chested man that stood over him. "Just because you spent a few ten-days hunting doesn't give you any permission to sit there and sleep! It's already three bells past sunrise and you're still bloody sleeping!" A leather-booted foot dug into Kayiri's side, summoning a moan from the half-asleep man.

"What do you want? I'm tired, Irtred!" the warrior groaned from his bedroll, rubbing his eyes with one arm and his side with the other. "I rode for many days and many nights across the Sea, the least you can let me do now is sleep a little later than normal in the safety of our Pavilion!" Green eyes opened and lazily focused on the man that stood over him, bulky arms folded across his chest. Another groan, but this one one of exertion, as Kayiri sat up and looked around. Everything was as he left it. Good.

"Normally, I would, but your little horse friend scampered off this morning. Also. someone's outside waiting for you. Says she was told to meet you this morning? Blond, freckles, sword on her hips, looks like she knows how to use it?" Irtred added the last bit when Kayiri looked at him with a confused face. After a moment or two, Kayiri answered quickly.

"Oh! Edalene!" he kicked his feet over off of the bedroll, rising to his feet quickly. "Do me a favor and go tell her I'll be right back. I have to get dressed," the Drykas said thankfully. He pulled his shirt on over his chest and pulled his pants up around his waist, looking himself over in the mirror once. Ugh. His face was covered in stubble. Wouldn't do, wouldn't do! He grabbed a bowl from beneath the mirror, carrying it over to one of the barrels of water stacked in the Pavilion, where he proceeded to fill it. While he was at it, he wet his hair a bit, so that he could comb it down. Like a true Grasslander, he limited the amount of water he used as much as possible. One could never know when they would make it to a water station. Once finished, he brought the bowl back to the mirror, dipped his razor into it, and went to work on the stubble that dotted his face,

In the mean time, the hefty man did just that. He poked his head outside of one of the Pavilion's tents, and spoke quickly to Edalene and Tebridiar, who had just appeared. "Kayiri'll be joining you two in a moment," with that, he went back to work.

Finished! He left the water for one of the slaves to clean up. His sword and bow found their way to their respective places on his hip and his back, and his coin purse found its way safely under his shirt after the coins inside were counted and recounted. It was hefty today, but he was going to be making hefty purchases.

Finally, he stepped out of the Pavilion, nodding at Edalene and grinning. "My apologies, my brother there made sure to punish me duly for you," he nodded over at Irtred, who simply waved before returning to his work moving sacks of feed. An eye then darted over to Tebridiar, and he switched to Common, hoping Edalene would pick up the change and do the same.

"Ah, Tebridiar! Come on, come on, our plans have room for one more. Besides, Irtred told me you left this morning. I have to keep an eye on you-- Gods know you'll get into trouble if I don't!"

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Edalene on November 22nd, 2010, 10:27 am

Watching the muscled warrior disappear inside the tent was nerve racking. It would be this first time Eda had seen Kayiri since he had run off on his hunting trip. She'd hoped - not prayed, Eda was not particularly religious - every night that Kayiri would be safe. Logically, she knew that Kayiri was a seasoned warrior and she'd be more likely to fatally injure herself tripping over her own feet, but still. Crushes made everyone irrational.

Oh. There it was. The dreaded word. "Crush". Eda tried to avoid thinking it at every opportunity, because every time she acknowledged it... it became all the more real. Really, Eda, you hardly know the guy! Shaking her head at herself, she crossed her arms and sat on the ground. Looking around nervously, she realised how idiotic that would have looked to anyone else who wasn't inside her head. Woops. The other part of her mind began responding. Eda had these arguments with herself on a regular basis. I don't have to know him to think he's cute! Plus, Eda... You're spending a whole day with him. Who knows what will happen... Eda had been asked by Kayiri a couple of days before he left on the Hunt to meet him outside his family pavillion at this time on this day. He hadn't mentioned why, besides making some vague mention to money. She hadn't known how much to bring so she brought half her allowance. She hoped it was enough.

As she was sitting, fidgeting restlessly, a russet haired girl she had never seen before came out of Kayiri's tent. She was quite pretty, but also looked rather young. Eda assumed she was one of the wives or children of another in the Pavillion. Waiting for her to walk right by, it shocked Eda when she didn't. The girl approached her, and Eda stood hesitantly, looking behind her, wondering if the girl had another target. She didn't. What she said shocked her. Speaking in Common, Eda began to question the new girl. "Sorry... you're Kayiri's friend? I apologise, I've never met you. Why are you staying in his tent? How long have you been here?" And why is she so important that she gets to stay with Kayiri, she thought sourly. Before the girl could respond, a rustle from the tent door was heard, and out stepped Kayiri.

A quick glance over as he made his way towards them reassured her. No limp, no scratches. He looked like he was fine. She sighed in relief. No harm done on the Hunt! She smiled brilliantly at him as he made his way over. She straightened her posture and waved away his apology, switching back to Pavi. "No apology needed, Kayiri. I wasn't waiting long. Tell your brother later that I am grateful for his help," and she waved back towards him. Her smiling disappearing slightly as he spoke in Common. Pavi was so much prettier... "Yes, apologies. Good to meet you, Teb-te-Tebridiar. Do I say it correctly?" Turning to Kayiri, she placed her hands on her hips, speaking once again rapidly in Pavi. "Kayiri, who is this? She is coming with us today?"

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Tebridiar on November 22nd, 2010, 8:02 pm

Tebridiar's mood lifted the moment Kayiri stepped out of the tent. Even just getting up, he still looked lovely... No! No, no thinking like that. He is a friend and a friend he must remain. He was the only stability that was offered to her at the moment.

This lady seemed nice enough, but something barely detectable in her tone made Tebridiar a little unsure. She seemed a little bit giddy when Kayiri came out the tent. Strange.

"Sorry... you're Kayiri's friend? I apologise, I've never met you. Why are you staying in his tent? How long have you been here?" She seemed innocent enough. Maybe just a little curious. Before she got a chance to answer, Kayiri mentioned her name and the lady was trying to say it.

"Good to meet you, Teb-te-Tebridiar. Do I say it correctly?" She then began talking in a strange tongue, which Tebridiar couldn't understand. Probably about her, no doubt. Or maybe she was too suspicious.

"Perfectly! Well, you know my name already. Kayiri saved me from my Master. Its a bit complicated, I was a slave and my Master took me here, Kayiri was watching, and he took me home. Ive been living with him for about a month, maybe a bit more. His hospitality is admirable! I take it you and Kayiri are good friends?" The girls smiling face quickly turned a tiny bit sour for a few moments. Tebridiar was no expert on relationships, but it was plain to her she liked Kayiri more than she was letting on. Wait till she finds out that the girl she is talking to is also a horse. Tebridiar was sure being a horse upped the stakes with any Drykas man to a degree.

She reminded herself to banish thoughts like that from her head.

Hmmn. Well, today would be... interesting.

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Kayiri on November 24th, 2010, 6:49 am

"Oi! Irtred! She gives her thanks!" Kayiri barked over at the older man. He raised his hand in a silent wave once more as acknowledgement, which caused Kayiri to nod. "Voila. Message relayed," he grinned at the two ladies and then stepped ahead of them, hopping down from the wood of the Pavilion. A quick adjustment of his pants on his waist and a tug of the tunic on his chest had him satisfied with his otherwise rugged-looking appearance. The quick assault of questions from Edalene caught him off-guard, and he turned to face her, raising an eyebrow at her. What had come over her all of the sudden? It wasn't every day that a woman got this irritated over the presence of another. Or at least, he hoped it wasn't every day.

"Tebridiar. She's a friend of mine. She's staying with my family for a while, and yes, she will be coming with us. It's the only way I can keep her out of trouble," Kayiri then said to Eda, in Pavi. "Now, can you please stick to Common? She doesn't know Pavi," with that last statement in Pavi, he switched back to Common, addressing Tebridiar with a smile and a soft chuckle. "It's not so much my hospitality as it is that of my family. They were the ones watching over her the past few ten-days. If they were treating her poorly, I'd have to have a bit of a talk with them!" a bit of a louder laugh.

"Come on, you two, we can go on foot. It's not that far of a walk, and I really don't want to carry Tebridiar's clothes as she runs around naked," Kayiri said, chuckling slightly at his own joke. Of course, that joke probably went right over Eda's head, considering that she had, most likely, never even heard of a Kelvic-- let alone seen one.

Whether she got it or not, Kayiri set off on foot with the two women, making his way rather quickly to the Ruby Clan Pavilions. Once they were there, he began scanning the Pavilions idly, looking for one in particular, one that would-- hopefully-- stand out from the rest. When he failed to find that particular one, he sighed deeply, and spoke to the two women, revealing their destination to them regretfully.

"If either of you two see a leatherworker-- preferably one specializing in armorcrafting, tell me, as I can't seem to find one right now. The one that I knew the location of must have moved in the past day a two. A shame," Kayiri sighed ever so slightly, looking back at the two women.

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Edalene on November 28th, 2010, 7:36 am

As Kayiri slowly turned to face her, with a raised eyebrow, Eda suddenly regretted her harsh tone. She hadn't even met the girl yet, and she was already suspicious! Besides, it was not like she had any sort of claim on Kayiri anyway. Maybe the relationship between Kayiri and her was completely chaste. Her guilt only increased as Kayiri completely shot her down. Damn it, why don't I ever think before I speak! Well, there go my chances with Kayiri...

Turning to Tebridiar, she switched back to Common, glad she had quite a good grasp on the language. "I apologise for my earlier rudeness, Tebridiar. Your arrival shocked me, and I was not even aware of your existance until a couple of moments ago! I apologise." Bowing her head slightly, she waited for her response. Why must I always stuff up potential friendships? As tebridiar relayed the circumstances of their meeting to her, she glanced towards Kayiri. Kayiri had saved Tebridiar from an abusive Master? And why did she have a Master, anyway? The circumstances of their meeting sounded positively romantic... no! Musn't think like that! Stop focusing on Kayiri, girl!

Eda focused her attention back onto what was going on around her. She stood up, stretching, as Kayiri suggested they get going -- pausing in her action as he made some joke about Tebridiar running around naked. Edalene's hormonal thoughts, as per usual, ran amok. He's seen her naked? What? Well there goes my chance... no! Seriously! Stop it! Making a concious decision to pay no attention whatsoever to those comments - a decision Eda was quite sure she would not stick to - she set off on a trot, glancing behind her to see if Tebridiar had followed. They walked in silence the short distance to the Ruby Clan pavillions, where upon Kayiri suddenly halted. Eda looked around, as Kayiri had asked, but could not find any leather-workers, specialising in armour or not. "Sorry, Kayiri. I wouldn't know where to find one." What's the bet Tebridiar does...

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Tebridiar on November 28th, 2010, 9:13 am

Edalene seemed genuinely sincere. Well, genuinely enough.

"No need to apologise, I understand that you are sorry..." Tebridiar smiled warmly. "Kayiri, I don't know where the leather workers are either. But what I'm really looking to be buy are some warmer clothes, and maybe a few pretty dresses. The clothes Im wearing won't last me the winter." She sighed, looking down at herself. Her waistcoat, her shirt, her little trousers, and some thin shoes. She wanted something that was a bit more pretty.

She planned on getting gloves, a cloak, more trousers, more tops, and possibly a hat. She didn't need pyjamas, she preferred to sleep naked (which is admittedly slightly alarming to some of the family members in Kayiri's home)

The young Kelvic pondered over this for a few moments, then she set off. She motioned for the others to follow her.

She wove in and out of other shoppers, crafters, hunters and warriors, and starting craning her kneck to look for a stall that would sell anything she needed. She soon came to a wrinkled old woman who sold some interesting looking items. Tebridiar spied a woolen cloak and some leather gloves.

"Well, hello. How much are the gloves, and the cloak?" She asked tentatively.
"Gloves, 5 silver mizas, and the cloak, 5 silver mizas." The lady replied.

"Ill take them, thanks..." Tebridiar handed over 1 gold miza, and she took a small pair of leather gloves and a grey cloak.

"I'd recommend you get some too, if you don't have any..." Tebridiar turned to tell her friends. "It might get a bit chilly."

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Kayiri on November 29th, 2010, 5:53 am

"Well, that wasn't exactly what I was looking fo-" he was cut off as Tebridiar dashed off, looking for something. A quiet sigh, a little moan, and a glance towards Edalene followed. "See what I have to deal with? She runs off the moment her mind switches to something else. Shortest attention span ever," Kayiri said, chuckling ever so quietly. His eyes met with Edalene's, and he smiled silently. She was a beautiful young woman, something that seemed to become more and more visible with every passing day, and he was certain she would make a good wife for a man someday. Damn Dymphna, why did she have to mention it and bring out this sort of eye for her? He would have to grumble at her later...

With that, and a small smile, he set off after Tebridiar. When she vanished into the store, Kayiri did something bold. Now that they were alone (or as alone as they could be), he slowed down, letting Edalene pass him. Before she could enter the Pavilion, though, he grabbed her by the hand, dragging her off to the side. He wasn't entirely sure why he did it, but he did it, which forced him to speak quickly and say something witty to cover up the little awkward moment. The gears in his mind churned quickly, trying to produce just that something. A moment after she came to a halt next to him, hand still in his, he spoke softly to her.

He had noticed her uneasiness, and her little movements, some of which could be seen as worried or upset, depending on how strangely one was thinking. Hopefully, this would alleviate that worry, if only by a little. "Sorry, I wanted some time alone with you," he said softly in Pavi, smiling at her. Kayiri's eyes locked with hers for a few brief moments, gauging her reaction. He then carried on, still speaking lowly in Pavi, in case Tebridiar came out and overheard him. "I apologize for needing to bring her along. It wasn't planned, I swear. She just needs a bit of extra attention at times. She's still young, and since she's not from here, I worry she'll do things she shouldn't," Kayiri explained, never letting his gaze wander from her. "I swear, she's just a friend, like a little sister," another smile, this one comforting and reassuring.

"Now, since that is out of the way, I never actually got a chance to ask you properly. How's my favorite warrior-in-the-works doing?" Another smile, this one coupled with a gentle squeeze of her hand. If she hadn't retracted it, and hadn't resisted it, she would find that his thick and calloused fingers had snuck their way in between her slimmer and softer fingers. His head tilted silently to the right as he graded her reaction.

[Tebridiar/Kayiri] Shopping With Old and New Friends

Postby Edalene on December 2nd, 2010, 7:49 am

Watching Tebridiar run off, she smiled awkwardly at Kayiri. Petch. I'm alone with him. ‎Petching petching petch! What in the Gods' name do I do now? Smiling and nodding, ‎admittedly somewhat absently, Edalene attempted to at least pretend to listen to what Kayiri ‎was saying. Really, she was just focussing on the massive freak out she was currently having ‎inside her brain. She heard Kayiri chuckle, and as an automatic response she chuckled too. In ‎an attractive way, right? Right? She hoped it was attractive. Eda accidently caught the eye of ‎Kayiri, and looked away blushing. Petch, why was he so cute? Eda, she told herself sternly, ‎‎you barely know the guy. Take a deep breath, and follow him while he goes and finds ‎Tebridiar, the pretty one…

Eda set off, following Kayiri absent-mindedly. She had no idea what she was even doing here. ‎What were they buying, anyway? She couldn’t imagine Kayiri, seasoned warrior of the Drykas, ‎being all that interested in gloves and cloaks. Making sure she saw the lean body of the other ‎Drykas in front of her, but not really paying attention to anything, it came as some surprise ‎when Kayiri suddenly grabbed her hand – Petch, he’s holding my hand! – and pulled her ‎off to the side of the Pavillion they were outside of. She quickly noticed that Tebridiar was ‎nowhere to be seen. Gods, he’s going to murder me! What? No. Calm down. Too many ‎hormones, Eda… Once again, it hit her that Kayiri was holding her hand. He was holding ‎her hand AND NOT LETTING GO. She hoped her hyperventilation wasn’t too noticeable. ‎Kayiri looked somewhat shocked, as if he weren’t entirely sure why he had done what he did, ‎but he opened his mouth and began to speak. Eda tried to focus as much as she could on what ‎he was saying, but, petching petch, he’s holding my hand!

Eda tried, she really did try, to listen to watch Kayiri was saying. But his melodic voice and his ‎proximity and the fact that he was holding her hand meant that not everything he was ‎saying fully sunk in. She was glad he went back to speaking Pavi – clearly, the superior ‎language – and blushed as she locked eyes with him. She tried to formulate a somewhat ‎coherent response. “A little sister, oh that’s fine, that’s okay, um sorry for being rude, petch I’m ‎rambling again, sorry I do this sometimes.” Eda took a deep breath, trying not to concentrate ‎on Kayiri’s larger hand holding her smaller one. “So, a little sister? That’s okay… I was just ‎shocked. I’m sorry.” She let a long sigh out, mentally congratulating herself for sounding ‎normal… of course, she only achieved normalcy after she’d made herself look like a fool in front ‎of the guy she liked. Durrr.‎

Smiling at Kayiri as he spoke and squeezed her hand, she choked as he weaved his fingers in ‎with hers. His entwined fingers gave her a jolt, surprising her. He was holding her hand as if ‎they were a COUPLE. Petch, petch, petch don’t freak out don’t freak out PETCH HE’S ‎HOLDING MY HAND… PROPERLY! She coughed, trying to remember what it was exactly ‎he had said. Glancing down at their entwined hands, she gave his hand a little squeeze, hoping ‎that she would get a squeeze back. If she did, it meant it weren’t a dream. “Warrior? I’m hardly ‎even a warrior in the making… I like the sword, I just can’t use it well.” Nonchalance! Perfect. ‎New tactic. Let’s see if this got a response.‎
