Rainbow Falls
Rainbow Falls
Sunlight played over the mists, each cascade sprayed with echoes of one color or another. Thomas had expected the water to be a saturated kaleidoscope. Instead, he found the falls possessed a more subtle beauty. Still impressive, but the colors were far more delicate than he'd first imagined. That, along with the unseasonably warm weather they were suffering (apparently), made for a very scenic view.
Already people were taking advantage of the failed winter. Couples sprawled over plaid picnic blankets, delighting in the autumn sun. Parents watched as their children laughed, daring each other closer to the tepid, clear waters. Thomas was surprised to see a few people fishing.
Did the fish know winter was coming late? He'd seen one or two swimming in the larger pools. There were, supposedly, more. The notices plastered around the city warned of eventual disaster. Droughts, fires, insects. Animals hunting in city locales. Still, Thomas couldn't help but be suspect. It seemed strange that the natural gods placed so much emphasis on the seasons. That they placed so much responsibility and trust on one individual.
Thomas settled on a bench accompanied with a table, some distance away from the main area. Estrellir might appreciate the relative quiet.
The mage pulled a folded paper out of his pocket, wrinkled and speckled with dirt. It was one of the many notices that had seemingly arrived overnight, promising harm to Morwen and her followers.
He hoped to what Estrellir felt on the news, but more importantly, see what the Konti could divine about the paper.
