Honestly that was where Gybe's train of thought was going. When the body decomposes it returns to the soil, eventually grows weeds and moves up the food chain to be back in humans again. He just didn't want to speak about decomposing bodies when the man was trying to eat. However since he was game for it Gybe let him continue on to his hearts content. On the subject of Ghosts he shrugged and had his theories, but doubted Clyde would wish to hear them anyways. Knowing that though may understand what was going on with some of the events surrounding the aperture.

Understanding the difference between fire and light he nodded and snickered. "Well...probably where every other bastard of a beast makes its home around here, the Aperture." He thought a moment, considering his comment about the flame. "Then there was something that the guard who watched the tablets said. He said 'The Nykalians were famed for their resilience. A trait its successor has inherited.' So to me it seems that this fight is ongoing. We may not have the last tablet that would result in the destruction of the beast or something, but instead we see that it fled, seeking new prey."

He considered this while the man ate and Gybe puffed on his cigarette. "When I first learned of the event, three monks of Laat captured the tablets and a scroll. The scroll I found to be one that was missing in the Monster Encounters section" he paused, as if debating whether to reveal anything else, but then continued. "Whatever they took, it was under the 'Relic' section of monsters. And it seems that they defeated four monks of Xannos trying to get away with them. What confuses me is that three monks carrying items were able to defeat four monks with none. While its possible I would imagine that we are dealing with some elders versus new monks. Then I considered...Where would they take them? I am not sure whether my deductions are correct, but I'd assume the Headquarters...the bank... would be the best spot for them to take them. IT just begs the question why though. Why take them? And if that isn't enough, why are the monks at the hall of robes acting like nothing happened? It's all very strange. I think they've come across this beast somewhere. Though I doubt it, perhaps these monks were under the influence of it who took these tablets, though I'm not solid on that theory."

"As for the next place...I have some options. I am maybe planning on talking to a guy I met in the Xannos group. He might have some information on it. I've hear some other things about people ripping peoples' heads off and feats of extraordinary strength-like feats. All rumors mind you, but they may play a bigger part in this than it seems."
He didn't like the sound of that and it made him slightly nervous.

As expected, the man had said the Aperture. It was a well known place for monsters around Nyka, and it certainly made sense that a monster that lived in darkness would call that place its home...

The mention of a scroll though, and a "monster encounter section" was something Clyde hadn't heard of. Monster encounter section denoted a filing system, and that there would be other sections also... What were these other sections on?

And if it made mention of monsters, where these monsters only ones common to Nyka? Or other monsters? He'd met a few things he wouldn't mind knowing more of, or of pinning a name to.

The term "Relic" monster also seemed to have some specific meaning, but Clyde was unsure what specifically it meant.

“This is all located in this Hall of Robes? What exactly is that place? It sounds more like a library, or a museum... Perhaps it would be worth another visit? Or perhaps I could see these stones myself, perhaps see if I'd notice anything by examining or reading them that you weren't told.”

“Also do you know if the monster encounters listed are limited to ones found in the Aperture, or does it list any other monsters? Perhaps it would know of this one monster I saw. It had no mouth, a overpowering aura, and could move in ways that... Didn't make sense. Plus it could shape its body seemingly at will. Along with some other unique traits... Perhaps it would be named there?”

Clyde paused for a moment, thinking back to the mouthless monster he'd faced with nothing but his own wit and a dog. He'd beaten it back, forced it to flee, but it had been a close fight. He'd gotten a few bits of its body, but he'd not learned its name or anything else since then.

“Also that term Relic Monster seems to denote something specific, I think it would be of use to find out what specifically a Relic Monster is.”

“Though if this thing does flee from flame, well... I won't have a problem with making some, if the need arises. I can do more than just control and put out flames.”
Clydes Stuff

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Once Clyde was closer to being done eating, Gybe got up and grabbed some mozzarella from a container on the wall. He took a knife out and cut three nice thick slices. Then taking a tomato he cut into, spilling its juicy seeds out onto the cutting board. He sliced at the tomato so there were four round disks that roughly matched the size of his mozzarella slices. He then went to gather up Clydes plate to give them to him. If he accepted it he would throw a tiny bit of salt over the snack to give it a bit of extra flavor and then would plop back down, just seemingly wanting to enjoy his cigarette for the moment.

He listened to what Clyde had to say and nodded about the Hall of Robes. “You can go back and look at stuff if you want. The only thing else I noticed was that the scrolls nearby where something called a Rozacopotl and a Quamr. I don’t know if those mean anything to you, but they were in amongst the same section. I figured it might be useful to know. Anyways, the hall of robes is where they make the robes for the monks around town. Think of it sort of like a cultural center, where one can go learn about the monks."

As Clyde would be able to see, there was nothing much to this man. He had a simple life. A fishing net hung on the wall and behind it to the trained eye was a dagger. It looked somewhat ornate but not overly so. Yet Gybe for all intents and purposes was a simple fisherman. He just seemed to pay attention very well.

“I wish I could tell you more about what a Relic is, but I didn’t want to involve the Monks there. It’s a good way to get beat up. Besides, they were acting as though nothing happened, which means either they are stupid and didn’t notice, or they are in on it. Sticking your nose forcefully where it doesn't belong in this town will get your head caved in. I know they didn’t take the scroll and things to the aperture. It was dead quiet there. No disturbance. So they must have taken it to the bank. I could have spent a good hour figuring what was in that section though, but the second I headed there, I could hear one of the monks coming to check me out, so I played dumb and acted as if I was wandering. Things may have settled though by tomorrow and you might be able to get a better look in there.” He shrugged.

The man seemed confident of his abilities of flame. Regardless it didn’t matter if it was light or not that it feared. Any flame spout the man could make would probably dwarf a torch any day. “How long are you going to be in town?” Gybe said as he reached behind him to a shelf where he kept some wine and a couple glasses. Pouring some for himself and if Clyde wanted, some for him. He figured he'd want something to wash down the salty, buttery dinner and slightly salty, snack down with.

As Clyde spoke, thought, and responded in turn, he also mindlessly ate away at the food placed before him. He wasn't paying full attention to this process, he didn't even notice that the man had gotten up several times during the meal and brought out more food. Instead Clyde was deep within his own mind, considering options, thoughts, possibilities, magic, and other vague topics.

Clyde quickly and efficiently ate his way through the newest plate of food offered.

It was an interesting thing, what they were discussing, and one that needed to be investigated further. He was less concerned about what the creature was doing to Nyka, and more interested in what uses it might hold. If it did indeed hold or practice some long lost magic, that alone could be of use. The thought of learning some magic or skill lost to time or that no one else could do was quite tantalizing.

Either way, surely anything that could do as this monster was believed to would be a powerful thing, and thus useful in his other work. Perhaps even worthy of being a reagent in Magecrafting, or allowing some odd or unique ability upon a creation.

He had never heard of the other monsters in the section, but then again he'd met many things without learning its name. Perhaps one of those were his monster? Either way, it would be useful to know what the meaning of those names for types of monsters were. It could be a critical lead in their investigation.

“I should be in town at least till the end of season. I can't say for sure after that. It depends on other business. But this is surely interesting...”

“Tomorrow, yes, that might work. Perhaps you could show me this place then? If we need an excuse, we can always tell them we are searching for information on that strange monster I ran into, and you are assisting. It'd be true enough, if not the whole story. And its certainly a different enough creature to not draw notice as us hunting for this other one.”

“And perhaps while we are there, we could find out what a Relic Monster is. That alone could explain better to me what we are looking for and dealing with.”

As it was things were getting late, and Clyde wasn't completely sure which way his room was at the Safehaven Hostel.

He had his bedroll with his pack, sitting atop it in plain view. He'd taken it with him since he wasn't sure if he'd be going outside of the city where he might be forced to camp outside, and so he had his things for camping including a tent folded within his pack. He'd been forced to sleep outdoors on the ground a few times, and so had made the habit of bringing such things when he went out. Better to be over-prepared he reasoned.

“Its getting a bit late. I'm not sure if I know how to get back either... I've managed to get lost quite a few times since coming to this city. I doubt the lack of light will help my ability to find my way either.”

Clyde wouldn't really be in danger, not as compared to a normal person, if he went out at night. But he also didn't want to draw the attention of the monks by getting lost and wandering about at night.

A rumble issued forth from his stomach as he sat there. He ignored it, though didn’t doubt it could be heard by Clyde. For some reason it was always louder to him than to others. It was probably because it was inside of him. He wasn’t so sure that Clyde could hear it though because the man was wolfing down food. He considered the man must have been pretty hungry.

In Nyka it was commonplace to trade food, and so as the man hurried and ate, Gybe realized he would be onto the next course a bit too soon. He nodded to the man’s words as he stood up again. Moving to search through his things as Clyde spoke about how long he was going to be in town. While in some places treating a guest to a meal might be a small snack, you don’t do that in Nyka. Here, your guest could die the next minute, so treat them like your own. That part kind of rubbed off on the Svefra as he had always grown up well with the various bounty from the sea at hand. He was used to catching and eating food readily available that to others may not have been.

He was using a lot of “we” in his speech, indicating to Gybe that he felt the man should come along. “Sounds fine. I need to fish in the early morning, but I should be back before you are thinking about getting up.” he smirked. “Well at least before most people are up.” He wasn’t sure of Clyde's habits so he made a concession to them.

He would let the man eat and seemed to slip out of his house for a second to his neighbor's house to trade some dried fish for some things. He carried a tray with him and upon returning not even a chime later, he had some rum baba for the man and some coffee. While Clyde ate a lot of food, it was still considered a light meal. Each portion was small. The fish was a bluegill reef fish, small in size, the bread was not very big, and the cheese and veggie wouldn’t likely fill the man. The pasta however was in larger portion, but noodles rarely would fill a man up. However coffee could make one feel bloated and full like a balloon, and with dessert it was a nice treat. Most meals had small portions of these things, so he put down before him this strange looking cake, the Rum Baba, before him.

The Rum baba was a cylindrical yeast cake, soaked in a solution of rum, sugar, and dried raisins. It had a gooey syrup taste to it and had a flakey outer crust that also was a bit doughy on the interior. The coffee was hot and was straight black, espresso, though was called coffee by them. Just incase he didn’t know to drink the other drink before the wine, he moved the wine glass away from the man a little and put the coffee before him. The wine was the last thing you drank, sort of to promote the digestion of all the previous things you’ve had before it.

As the man finished his meal, he mentioned how it was getting late. Gybe listened to how he had gotten lost a few times. “Well take my bed for the night. It is getting close to nightfall anyways. In the morning we can proceed with the plans and see what we are dealing with perhaps a little bit better.” While Gybe just looked like a jerk with his big thick beard, he actually was coming off as a decent guy. Truth of the matter is, that he liked foreigners better than Nykans.

Regardless of how nice he was seeming, the offer of giving up his bed seemed to hardly phase the man. During the past five years he has not very often slept in the bed except on nights he was completely exhausted. If Clyde seemed to accept, he would first swiftly move to the pillow and retrieve the necklace of his daughter from it and put it into his pocket.
